I really don’t like the Hermes vibe of too good for everyone, she shouldn’t feel worried about pronouncing it wrong, or opening the box wrong... it’s a stunning and beautifully crafted handbag but that’s all!
I wouldn't necessarily say it's too good for everyone. It's that they still have a limited number of craftspeople making them so supply is super low on the trinity. And they have little financial or quality control incentive to do anything differently.

The way you told the story of finding the bag was really sweet. It's obvious you're thrilled with it and that you appreciate being lucky enough to have it. It's a lovely bag and fits really well with your style.
Hermès uses an extensive range of leathers in their products, such as crocodile, lizard, pigskin, ostrich, skipper and lambskin. Box calf leather - often seen in vintage Kelly bags, Epsom leather - an embossed leather highly resistant to scratching and the Fjord leather - an adult calf leather are some of the popular types of leather used in Hermès leather goods. What a shame for someone who is such an animal lover.

Congratulations on your first Hermes. I imagine there is no feeling like it, I grew up showing Horses, the moment when you walk into a well-kept tack room is such a beautiful thing, the smell is heavenly, it also evokes a sense of great history. As a teenager, I dreamed of owning a Hermes saddle. Your unboxing made me feel like I was right there with you. Ignore some of the comments below, they don't understand the process, history of Hermes or are perhaps jealous. Enjoy your bag, it's stunning, you deserve it.
I have never like the hermes bags I just don't know what the fuss is about. Its very ordinary I would prefer Dior or Chanel ins
I understand your thought process although Lydia has lots of those brands, this is the next step up for collectors.
The "fuss" is that Hermes is one of the OG classics. For investment reasons and the history. Hermes is next level. And that bag is beautiful.

As an owner of more then 20 Kelly/Birkin bags you should get an insert from 7RP ASAP because the bag isn’t in fantastic shape at the front and the side on the left.
It’s already sagging and it’s so important to keep the structure of the bag.
I only have one problem and it’s not with you but with all the influencers buying Birkin and Kelly’s at the moment.
They all get them from consignment stores or personal shoppers and make it look so easy.
As an Hermès client and lover for many years you never forget the first time you get a bag offered in store, it’s such an experience and I will cherish that bag forever and through the years I have established a fantastic relationship with all of my SA’s so I can have any Hermès bag I want.
Getting a Birkin or a Kelly in store is an accomplishment and that’s getting lost nowadays.
Since July 2020, Hermès is putting on their receipts when you buy a Birkin or a Kelly that it can’t be sold second hand and there’s a reason for it.
First I found it strange when I read it on my receipt but now I totally get it.
Hermès is trying to protect their exclusiveness and their heritage.

It’s not an accomplishment to get a bag in Hermes. An accomplishment is earning a degree or playing an instrument or being given an award....
Nothing seems exclusive or exciting anymore once all the influencers jump on the band wagon.
@@emu9520 Yes I wholeheartedly agree but that bag can also be a nice reward for well-educated women who have achieved success in their lives. I'm sure some graduate women would love to get that as a graduation gift!! It's a symbol of hard work and success just like a nice new car!

I have a law degree and a degree in finance, I set goals for myself and whenever I reach that goal my reward is a Kelly or Birkin.
I don’t have a problem with someone buying an Hermès from a consignment store but I do have a problem with influencers buying these beautiful pieces like they are fast fashion without even realizing what it means do buy a Birkin or a Kelly.
Everytime I buy one it’s still very special to me.
I find Hermes bags to be quite boring... I guess all the hype they get its is because how hard is to get them and that makes people to desire them more.
It’s funny I definitely remember feeling the same way but as I get older I have more of an appreciation for them

congrats lydia, bag is stunning! i recently got my black kelly and it's so worth the wait - make sure you use the raincoat they give you so that the bag doesn't ruin in the rain and just keep it in the bag at all times (learnt that the hard way with a couple of my birkins) x

Hermes bags are made that way. An authentic bag should fold easily. It's not overly structured.
@@ivy3385 depends on the leather. Not every leather folds this easily. Perhaps swift leather, but Barenia, Togo, Clemence are quite sturdy, and don’t fold , specially when the bag is new. She bought the bag second hand, that might explain why it looks this way. It was probably not well stored either
@@mcd3560 actually she mentioned somewhere in the comments the bag was never used. So second hand yes, but the previous owner never used it. I own 2 hermes bags, they fold down due to the leather they are made of.

@@ivy3385 i too own hermes bags and one in barenia, and the leather doesn’t fold when the bag is “new” (her bag is not new, it is not fresh from store so it is not new. Which is fine for me, I also own second hand handbags). Leathers like swift or evercolor for example do fold after a few months, not barenia, not togo, not epsom (which never folds really). You are saying that “all authentic Hermès bags fold easily “, that is incorrect. Also, you can find plenty of unboxing videos on CZcams, and you will notice that the bags don’t look like Lydia’s. This bag is nowhere “new”, and it wasn’t properly stored, hence the folding

I've never heard of a consignment store, I actually had to Google the term 😅 interested to know the process if the bag is new but not from a Hermes store. Maybe one day I'll get my hands on my own hermes bag 🤗
It’s not new as you didn’t buy it from Hermes. The correct term is (if it’s not been used) Never Worn pre loved. New means you’re the first owner which you’re clearly not .
