Zuma rock has nothing to do with the south African ex president Jacob Zuma. Zuma rock is located in Zuba, Nigeria. The Zuba people call guinea fowl Zuba and that place was known for high concentration of Zuma (guinea fowl) so the rick there was described as Zuba rock.
What did you guys seek to achieve in climbing the rock and what did you actually achieve. And also how are all 10 of you doing years later after the climb.
Hi Janis ! I'm moving to Abuja soon and came across this video... How did you climb the rock ? Did you have to set bolts or anchors ? Seems too flat for trad climbing... I'm a rock climber myself and am wondering if it'd be worth bringing climbing gear to Nigeria... Cheers !
The place where the rock is located is called zuba, in the olden days, the indigenous tribe of that particular place used to catch guinea fowl there so they named the place zuma in their language to describe a place of catching guinea fowl. Later, rock was added to the zuma so it can be called: ZUMA ROCK

Recently a young Ghanian CZcamsr visited the area and I believe he has posted the FIRST official public "drone shots" of Zuma Rock on line. Obviously the Nigerian military ( and Nigerian Air Force[NAF]) and certain Nigerian construction companies may have there own shots but this( czcams.com/video/oCnfu4u3zCg/video.html) maybe the first public youtube drone shots of Zuma Rock..
