  • WHY FIT OFF-SET FRAME CONES? A lot of Lambretta performance cylinder kits have their inlet manifold position extremely close to the underside of the main frame tube. If they come into contact then the result is untold, unwanted vibration and possibly breakage of the manifold. Off-set cones are nothing new and their use allows the engine to effectively sit lower and move the inlet manifold away from the frame. A problem with normal off-set cones is that they can move out of sync with each other - and the end result is that your engine ends up lop-sided in the frame and the scooter is un-rideable. This can happen due to the scooter being used on the open road, or sometimes simply as you tighten up your normal type main engine bolt. As the two nuts are tightened, the cones grip the bolt and if that spins, the cone(s) can be spun around it it’s/their seat. To eliminate all this, the ‘X89k’ kit from Casa Performance not only has a (fully, precision machined) main engine bolt with a fixed head on one side, so that there is no chance of it spinning your cones but the same bolt also has a flat side machined along it’s length. The cones too are machined with a flat side and subsequently everything is kept perfectly in line, both during fitment and when in use. The magic of this set-up is that before you fully tighten up the bolt, you can spin it (and the cones) around into the desired position. You can physically see your engine moving position, giving you the chance to choose the perfect position for maximum frame-inlet manifold clearance - as you can see in this video! These can be fitted to any Lambretta, from a Series 1 LI125 through to a Scuderia SSR265, whether standard or tuned. More info here: www.casaperfor...
