The facts are countries like Latvia, Luxembourg etc are still developing their womens football leagues and many of the players aren’t full time , a bit like England back in the 80’s up until 2018 it’s been a progressive improvement and those countries still have a way to go. But in this game the England team was using it as a training experience to compete for the whole 90mins continuously looking to score, so when it comes to playing the likes of USWNT / Germany etc we can compete continuously. Latvia was never expecting to score or win the match so their job in the match was to work on their defensive skills / techniques and minimise the number of goals scored. I wouldn’t have said it was an embarrassing loss for them but it was certainly a steep learning curve and shows them what they need to work on. In time they will improve. If the next time they play England and only let in 10 then they have improved! You have to look at things in perspective and relative to the individual team’s situations.
