- Here's step by step instructions on how to build a Barrel Train out of 55 gallon drums using custom square tube frames and harbor freight tire/wheels. I build two styles of seating, one is a "single" car and the other is a "double" or tandem setup. In reality two younger kids (3-5 yr old) could fit side by side in a single car. I plan to make 6 total train cars to pull behind my ATV.

Great thanks
Thank you for your excellent video presentation and most professional work! After watching I immediately did a search for a metal barrel and found a nice clean one (food grade/Almond oil) and same day (Today 11/15/23) I got the barrel and I picked up the wheels at HF. and got axels coming from eBay. You are a great inspiration for dad's/mom's/granddad's and grandma's that do stuff! Thank you for putting this great and easy to understand video together!
Wow, you're fast! Great job finding the materials so quickly. Note i have found the harbor freight bearings to wear out fast so i've pressed them out and put in these sealed units for longevity. amzn.to/3R0ua72
@@NaterTater Nice! I'll order a few of these Marathon# 60602 Flanged Precision Ball Bearing to have handy when the HF ones fail! I'm making this for a 2 year old across the street and pulling with a Ryobi RM300e and I'm sure more little ones will come running! I'm 77 and loving CZcams just wish it was around when I was younger! Thanks so much for link Nater! Cheers, Tony
Great build
Thanks
Nater tater, thanks for the information...I am planning to make one tren , maybe I will spend about 5 ,000 dolllar, I want to make it in 5 or 8 bagons...I know how to make upholstery painting and some else...welding I will hire some one to help me...and it's going to be beautiful, but I needed a video lake yours, is good information. You are smart man...thanks for that skils..
What a great dad
Thanks Trace!
NATER TATER, question...wich model of lawn mover you use for that trein?
Yamaha Wolverine 450
Perfect!!! thanks for idea
So cute and thanks for sharing the how to ☺️👍
So cool! Easy step by step. Thank you.
You're welcome!
In my area, those blue plastic 55gal barrels can be had for $10. If you're careful, you can find them that had food stored in them. That might avoid the sharp edges of metal barrels and avoid rust. Might have to develop a unique way to mount them, however as they can't be welded, of course.
Great build video Nate!!!
Thanks! Nice channel you have too! 😎
Wow. This is awesome
Thanks!
Excellent video!!!!!
Thanks!
👍
This looks super safe for children
indeed
Do you have the link for where you purchased the seat belt?
Hello, what gauge is your 1" square tubing?
Lindo trabajo
gracias!
How are your train cars holding up. I just built 4 cars using your plan. Very good by the way. My concern is where the barrel is welded to the frame. Does it hold up in rough terrain?
No problems so far. I get them out 3-4 times a year for kids parties.
This is a great video!!! In what part of the video, or how do you connect the barrels??
Do you mean the barrels to the frame with wheels? Or one barrel cart to the next barrel cart?
@@NaterTater One barrel cart to the next barrel cart
@@jayjag_57 i used a clevis style hitch where the front of a cart has the two plates and the rear of a cart has a single plate that goes between the front and there is a hitch pin that goes thru all 3 plates to lock them together.
Good Job were can I purchase the steering wheels and Eyes from thanks Steve Collins
I got the steering wheels from home depot and eyes from Joann.
Ok thanks
How did you connect the barrels to the frame?
Directly welded it
Maravilloso?
gracias
what weight limit on those barrel train?
Tire/bearings are the limiting factor probably. I'd say realistically 200lbs per cart but hard to fit a 200lbs person in them.
Looks Great but:
'careful
I think this is how Disneyland started
So i shouldnt have added the zip lines, off road dirt track and paddle boats already?
wOw
ha ha ha
forget Disneyland Dad, I want my birthday party at Nater's house
too damm cool!
What’s the make/model of the welder?
Hobart Ironman 240
Where did you buy the steering wheel?
Bought them here: amzn.to/3HXwYuZ
How much will you charge me to build 6 of them like the ones you built?
I dont build them for sale.
Is this for sell? I run a dog daycare and this would be perfect!
Not for sale sorry.
Can you make it autonomous
autonomous would take some work...self driving is more doable though. Much easier to just have my 4yr old drive though!
Approximately what was the cost per cart?
$50
What wheels you used?
Links are in the video description. Harbor freight wheels/tires.
Hi. May i know cc of your atv? I want to build one with 3 barrel. So i would like to know the min cc suitable to pull the barrels.
Mine is a 450cc class but i think you could get away with a 250cc. Even a 10hp lawnmower could pull it with short gearing (ie slow).
@@NaterTater alright noted. Thanks. I thought 125 cc would be enough 😥
@@wanmuhammadsofwan7689 probably depends what 125cc it is and the gearing. Maybe if it has a low 1st gear (not a CVT) it could pull it on flat ground.
@@NaterTater noted. Thanks alot
Hi , Can I pay you to make me one like the one in the video?
No, sorry.
Where did you buy the eyes?
Joann Fabrics
@@NaterTater thanks kindly!! Beautiful job on the train Nate
Maybe I missed it but where did you buy the steering wheel at
I got them from home depot. They are basically playground wheels.
@@NaterTater Thks so much
Do you sell these? Or would you?
Sorry, I dont.
