#thecramps #poisonivy #gretsch - Hudba
Poison Ivy doesn't get enough respect for the great guitar player she is. Can't get enough of that down and dirty Cramps sound.
Agreed!
Well,
Too much to say so Iâll keep it short,
Poison Ivy Rorschach ( Kristy Marlana Wallace) was why I started guitar,
no other reason.
In an interview she said she started learning Link Wray tunes.
So I bought an electric guitar and my first song I learned was Rumble by Link Wray and the second song was Fever by The Cramps.
I seen The Cramps twice, freaking wild times.
Stay Sick!
my first full song was rumble too. i played it on acoustic since it was all i had. didnt live early enough to see the cramps though
You lucky thing!
We followed similar paths ... first song was Rumble, second was I am cramped.
Dude, hell yeah! I was always surprised how few guitar lesson videos are on youtube centered around Poison Ivy's guitar playing. Keep em coming!
Thanks Andrew! Yeah I thought so too. Sheâs seriously underrated
Poison Ivy superb musician. Love this thank you.
Yes !!! More Cramps !!!!!!!!
You got it!
This is long overdue. Absolutely Brilliant. Cheers
Cheers Barry! More where this came from
Great lesson! "I'm Customized" is another great Cramps song that can use some lovin. Thanks for posting these and tabs.!
Nice play through
Been a fan of the cramps since my mom introduce me was a kid, alot of bands come and go in life but I will always have a soft spot for the cramps I have all their studio albums, still need some comps n demos
Awesome to wake up to this killer lesson. Thanks for this one. I am definitely up for more Cramps lessons. Also up for a solo lesson if you get to it, but your solo section tips were AWESOME as well. This was great. Everyone please become Patreon members and support the perpetuation of great music and this style of guitar playing!
Thank you Corie!
So stupendously awesome. Thanks! Keep it comin'!
Thanks to demonstrate, i love the Cramps, see them twice, excellente band, love all guitar poison ivy done
Thanks Alain! Cheers đ»
Happy you did this video. She was and still is my idol.
Poison Ivy did indeed play a 6120 later on, but prior to 1981 all her parts were recorded with a 1969 Ampeg Dan Armstrong Plexi, in transparent Lucite finish. It was stolen, along with all of their other equipment, by Bryan Gregory when he left the band.
you were in my recommends, absolutely amazing. love it.
Thank you so much Mrs Peel! đđ»
Awesome stuff Nico!!!! Canât have enough Cramps!
Cheers brother! You probably know all these đ
Thanks for sharing. Love The Cramps.
Glad I found your channel-Subscribed! Going to explore all your work - more Cramps riffs please!
More!! Green Door!! Cheers and thanx a lot from Italy
Thanks Paolo!
Love playing Cramps riffs. I even got my son into them!
Great lesson for an old Cramps fan like me. Saw em loads and love nailing their riffs (even though most are borrowed from the 50s) Great stuff! ...subscribed!
Iâd say everythingâs borrowed right? But she puts her own style to it!
Just subbed, I really appreciate the love for the stuff that doesn't typically get covered on the internet. Stay sick đ„đ„đ„
Thank you Monthus!đ»
Thank you!
Love the Cramps!
"Just keep it simple" then goes off on a tear that I'm completely incapable of. LOL. Like the video, mate.

Thank you this is great.
Youâre welcome!
LUV the Filtertron pickups.
I too love the Cramps
Great band
Nice guitar lesson. Congratulation!
The Cramps forever.
When you have time and want, show us Poison Ivy's guitar solo "Let's Get Fucked Up"
Thanks for mentioning the late "Blond Bomber" Ronnie Dawson in a video focused mostly on The Cramps. He doesn't get near enough notices for his contributions to rock n roll. đ
Nothing as copacetic as a good musician sharing hard earned musical knowledge.
Your Chanel is great. I've been playing a while and always wanted to be able to play this style of music...
I've liked and subscribed.
(So jealous of your moustache too)
Welcome to the gang! Cheers đ»

Cheers brother!
Very thanx from St.Peterburg Russia.
Thank you
More Cramps!
Thankyou Nico! đ»đ»đž I will be having a go at these on the weekend. My favourite Cramp's song is The Creature from the Black Leather Lagoon...have a listen and see if you reckon it would be worth a lesson. If not no biggy, plenty more of them to do.đđ
I nearly did that one! Iâll look at it next time I do some cramps - which will be soon !
Great video. Love The Cramps. The greatest Rock n Roll (as in not Rock) band ever.
Thanks Dave !
"I Can't Hardley Stand It" would be a great song to cover.

Fun.

Love the Cramps and the Sonics. Maybe look at "Nothin' but a Gore Hound" one day from Smell of Female, great live album.
Thanks Seano! đ»
I think you're the only guy that got Ivy's tone right, and the lesson was very good also.
Thanks so much
Hi great vid , i really need the solo in mad daddy i can quite work it out . or a good solo which would fit , cheers
Please do Flame Job tunes and more Date With Elvis especially How Far Can Too Far Go which has a rockabilly country western riff
Love the vid. My band had to drop Naked Girl falling down the stairs for lux lives as I could not nail the solo. Would love you to do that one.
Hi Robin! Hope youâre well pal? Thatâs a good call, I can give it a go!
playings cool, guitars cool, neon bats cool!đœâ đ
I aim to please! đ đŠ
love what you do! could you possibly do something on the gun club? maybe my dreams but any gun club is great :)
How about the bikini girls with machine guns club?
Great video! any pedal effects on the guitar?
Excellent work sir, everyone loves the Cramps, if they don't then they're just straight up wrong. Hipsvillle 29 B.C. would be a good song to do. But anything by the Cramps would be a good one to do.
Great riff! Thanks for the suggestion
Thin! And god bless the Fuzztones, too!
thanks for the lesson !!
>> The Munsters theme song
Great lesson, Doing more Cramps song would be great. Ultra Twist would be great I almost bought a 6120 but heard they had some feed back....is the feed problem that bad or is just the situation your in maybe? Thank you.
If you are playing really really really loud - like metal loud with huge stacks and your stood close to the speakers, you might have a lot of feedback but I like to think I play fairly loud and itâs never been a problem, and when itâs feeding back, itâs good feedback.
There are lots of different choices for bracing in the hollow bodies such as tone posts or trestles, these are less likely to feed back than a fully hollow body with no bracing. Thereâs also the option of the centre block models. Cheers! đ»
Hey Mate, I Dig all your Lessons ! Can You do one on, Sheena in a Goth Gang, By Cramps, Thanks Againđ
Thank you! And thanks for the request, Iâll take a look
Can you achieve the Cramps sound just with a Gretsch or are particular amps/pedals required? I'm eyeing of a Streamliner Centre Block Jnr P90 purely to tinker around with Cramps / Rockabilly sounds. Would appreciate any advice! Thanks and love your channel :)
Thanks Kate! Thatâs a good question, and you could get a bunch of different answers from different people. Personally I think you could get a Cramps-y sound with a bunch of different guitars. Some might argue that a lot of the sound comes from Poison Ivys fully hollow 6120, and the pickups on there. I think she had filtertrons. The P90s will have a different sound, but Iâm sure you would still be able to get some good twang out of them. Also with it being a centre block, this would give it a different vibe as well. But still closer than you would get with a fully solid guitar. Itâs worth noting that loads of old rockabilly guitarists would have used guitars other than hollow Gretschs!
For amps I think Ivy used fender, with a lot of reverb. The spring reverb on the amps is quite a big sound. But you can get pedals to emulate this. A little bit of slapback would be good, she also used tremolo on some of the recordings and what sounds like fuzz.
Those streamliners look great though I would love to try one myself! Let us know how you get on and what you do!
Love the cramps hugely but even though I love gretsches and have 60s anniversary and astrojet I prefer Ivy's early stuff with the Lewis guitar
Poison Ivy Rorschach ( Kristy Marlana Wallace) The best Forever!!!!
Nick of England
Is there any chance you could do a tutorial on the entire Whats inside a girl and tab it out
Very much appreciating DEATHRAYCAT channel
thanks
PS if ever in Leeds I will drop by a buy you a pint
Thanks Nick! Iâll take a look, and yes Iâll take a pint cheers! đ»
How about Cornfed Dames?
The Way I Walk
Cool stuff! BTW. Ivy plays the main riff of wia girl in the fifth position (and so do I đ).
I'm still figuring out how to combine playing the riffs in the verses with me singing... (I used to play my own version of that with chords, but the riffs sound better)
Whoops! I have started seeking out live footage since this video so I can play the way she did. Thanks for the information Peter đ hopefully we can play some cramps tunes together soon đ»

Some slap back delay and some reverb on the amp ! Thanks Stuart!
Great channel, just discovered it. Any interest in taking a stab at The Hearse by Al Casey?
Thatâs a great tune! Will look into doing it some time cheers! đ»
Didnât know those riffs could be played without wearing fishnet stockings ( or do you have them on under your pants?). And this is the first time I actually looked at the fingers when a Cramps song being played on guitar!
I definitely think it would help!
What Gretsch guitar model is that?
Itâs the G6120RHH Reverend Horton Heat Model
The Cramps invented beach goth âŠâŠnot The Growlers. But the Growlers are amazing
Do Hot Pearl Snatch :)
