  • Tim Chaisson is a singer, songwriter in the Canadian folk band, "The East Pointers". Tim and his band mates, Jake Charron and Koady Chaisson, won a Juno Award for their debut album, "Secret Victory" in 2015
I'm honoured to share my conversation with Tim Chaisson in this episode of the podcast. We talk about the challenges of being vulnerable and authentic as an artist while steering clear of drugs and alcohol, the history of two of my favourite East Pointers songs and the power of music to shift your internal state. I'm already looking forward to having Tim back on the podcast. Next time hopefully with Jake and Koady so they can share some live music with everyone.
For our younger listeners there is some use of very mild language. Nothing crazy just want to be as transparent as possible!

I followed them on Spotify. What a feel good band. They kind of remind me of Rascal Flats here in the US but with a Irish jiggy twang. I just wanna bust out in an Irish jig in the middle of my kitchen while cooking, but my husband might commit me.. plus a POLAGO (Polish /Italian ) probably won't be to good at the IRISH jig.. 😂😆 😂.. it really lifts me up. I sent the album to a friend that is going through some life changes and she's a bit down. I also recommended her to subscribe to your podcast. You have such a smooth calming voice, it's easy listening for a chaotic mind. Both are. Thanks for what you do and introducing this band to me. 👍👍

Wow, what an eye opener. I never heard of this musical group but what a meaningful song Wintergreen is. Upon hearing it on this podcast I found myself thinking of my daughter who left our home here in Trinidad and has gone to Oshawa, Canada to study at university. She has experienced high and lows since but has handled those issues thoughtfully. Upon hearing this song, I just had to send it to her as a source of inspiration and guidance as she chases her own goals in life. Thanks to both of you for putting together this podcast. I look forward to the others in time.

Yes, I have Caisson and other Canadian artists on my playlist after hearing their work on Heartland. The music was a huge part of the show. The interview was informative and I was surprised to hear Chaisson say it was more challenging to play before a small audience...more vulnerability.

Soulful artists these two young men are. Two takeaways from their conversation: a mention of that place of vulnerability, an awareness that liberates one to be authentic and creative and that gut level connections that work and last...
From the sound of their voices, you sense warmth and the beauty of their souls. Godspeed to you both!🙏👏

Very interesting podcast. Great to hear about how Tim feels when composing and also performing. I can certainly relate to that. It's much harder to play for a small group - or even one person as its more intimate and you can feel vulnerable. I sing and play guitar too so loved this podcast. Also Brilliant songs you chose to play. Music is good for the soul. Blessings

Perhaps you are right it is more to do with Folk music because as someone who comes from the UK I thought we were open to "new" things ,so I was sorry to hear the band had that experience. I hope it hasn't put you off of coming to these shores again. We share the same thoughts of the magical painting, I too think of the ocean as my magical place, it evokes feelings of peace and I can smell the smell reminding me of my childhood when everything was so much simpler!

Very interesting conversation for a listener whose only music experience is listening to music of many genres. I have traveled to Ireland and Canada and loved stage music. One of my favorite memories is a wedding I attended in my Texas city where because the bride and groom were of two cultures, Hispanic and Irish , there were two musical groups at the reception - one a Hispanic group and the other an Irish group. Oh what a night that was!!
