None of them mention an assembly system where they all get representation to vote on laws. This is the best solution for everyone to get some of what they want. A good ruler would implement and compromise on some of their ideas.
I'd go for Emilia + Crush alliance. They are on good terms right now and their goals aren't mutually exclusive (Emilia cares about social aspect of the country, while Crush cares about military strength, self-sufficiency and independence of the country) so it's not too far fetched in case of Emilia being chosen. The direction in which Emilia wants to go is the right one, but i doubt she would be capable of doing anything alone with her camp, since she is basically going against the whole ruling class. With backing from Crush, authority and respect that she posses in the ruling class, aswell as her divine protection, i think they could pull it off. When it comes to Crush I'm not sure about the deal with the dragon, but if Crush actually cares about the country aside form the dragon, and wants to make it stronger, I don't see why she wouldn't accept Emilia's request for help.
this sounds like the best, plus meritocracy (promotion/rewards based on skills and effort, ie crusch) is the basis for the best form of equality (equality of opportunity), the allaince would create a stable and fair society, while Emilia by herself could become socialist/communist which can only end badly, and Crush by herself could work (but the dragon thing might not be the best idea)

Def Emilia. I'm interested by how Subaru would effect things, even though he is a bit of a dolt, he has a better understanding of what system of governments work. though he would need to learn a lot more about politics and how to run a country, but if he did it would be cool to see him become somewhat of an adviser. Truth be told I could see all 5 of them would start a revolution, so there really isn't any safe option. Crush would have a smaller revolt than the others, but because she wants to cut ties with the dragon I would think that a large portion of people would either fear the Dragons Wrath or just be straight up more conservatives in there thinking.
I thought a little about how Emilia could subdue the racist minds of the people. The reason people are so bigoted is really because of the evil presence of the Witch Of Envy, so what if Emilia just became the opposite of that. It would be hard but if Emilia become one of the greatest leaders in Lugnica history then she could act as a counter balance to the Witch of Envy. Priscilla is completely selfish and it would be a bad idea to give a country to someone who already has everything. Anastasia seems like a good idea at first but I believe that in the end she will only care about money and forget about ordinary people. Crusch has lost all of her memory and she may never come back 100% so putting something that needs to be very responsible doesn't seem like a good option Felt looks like he is going to destroy the monarchy but I believe it is impossible to be elected as the wealthiest and most important people will do everything to prevent it. Not to mention that she just wants to destroy everything she doesn't even say what would be the next step Emilia is the best option for all the inhabitants of the country of course I agree that it will be terrible and difficult for everyone initially but in the end the future looks good if she is the queen. I don't know what the selfish reason is to become queen but I have faith that she will do whatever it takes for people to have a good life But in the end we all know that the Butterfly King is the best of all.

Spoilers I guess Priscilla isn't all bad, you see in arc 5 when Heinkel threatens to kick Felt and Rinehart out of the Astrea lands, that Priscilla clearly says that the people won't follow him just cause he's the lord, especially after Felt came in and made everything better. So she clearly understands that she can't be a total asshat and will adress the problems that are brought up.
Emilia is way to indecisive to rule a kingdom. If we're talking about a new regime made from the ground up Emilia's best asset would be Subaru's knowledge about democraties.

Her social intelligence is not only sorely lacking, but is also 100 years out of date, & there are times where she struggles to make up her mind, but in spite of that, she's won the trust of a former assassin & a Witchbeast queen, & formed an alliance with a former Sin Archbishop. She's also saved Regulus's wives & formed an alliance with Volakia. She's also formed potential friendships with a number of Princess Candidates. She's far more capable than her lack of social skills would have you believe.

Definitely Crusch (assuming she eventually gets her memory back). Her vision is solid and paves the way to a lot of future changes. I'm also confident that she's the most capable in implementing their vision, regardless of what they are.

Overall, none of the candidates are focused on libertarianism and free market, aside from Felt, which doesn't really count since she's a child who doesn't know nothing, pretty much. So I'd go for Crusch, she's the one who suits the most for leadership, aside from her great experience in politics, management and her blessing, that allows her to know whether anyone is lying or not. In a political spectrum, Crusch seems to be more towards a conservative monarchism. She doesn't seem interested to change the status quo and is only focusing on her modus operandi. Using the existence of current Establishment to her and nation's benefit is her goal, more and over. Emilia lacks experience only. She'd be a good leader, very likely to lower taxes and use public incomes to help the needing people. With low taxes, the poor people would get more money to their own, the entrepreneur would benefit as well lowering their product cost production and selling for lower prices. More job surveys would happen and the Kingdom's economy would prosper. The sames goes for Crusch in a lower percussion. Emilia's sociopolitic point of view is a mixed centered hybrid. Unbelievably social democratic and libertarian. She probably never heard of Anarchocapitalism, so she wouldn't be in such a mess. EMT
Looking at the politics of a pre-industrial feudalistic society through the lens of free-market libertarianism just seems misguided to me. A pre-industrial society functions in a vastly different way than a post-industrial one. When most people live off subsistence farming then all of this free market stuff becomes kinda meaningless.

Basically, the Modern World as we know has expanded and grown due to the socioeconomic revolution of an old, archaic and unethical system. It is worth mentioning that the State as an institution isn't that far away from a feudalistic society. The State is a monopolistic, non-producer and non-contractor, only surviving through coercion and expropriation of non-contracting third parties. The State doesn't produce anything, but redistributes other people's goods. Who really makes economy grow is the market itself. The market nothing more that the common people, the individual owners, the micro, small and big enterpreuner, the economy is made by people by their own. There isn't something more expensive on Earth that something the State gives you "for free".
In a feudal society, most of the economy is dominated by subsistance farming. People produce just enough food to survive and have little surplus. Capitalism is based around surplus production. You produce not to survive, but to sell and adquire capital. People in feudal societies can't do that because there is no surplus to sell! Admittedly, I know very little of the economics of the Re:Zero world. It is possible that their farming techniques would be enough to produce a significant enough food surplus to kickstart a capitalist economy, but even so, how would you propose that happens? It's a feudalistic society, remember? The vast majority of people don't own land but rather work in the land of their lord under a contract. If feudalism were abolished and capitalism implemented without any sort of land reform then life for the average peasant would barely change. Istead of working under a feudal contract that allows them to work the land and feed themselves in return to providing services to their lord, now they work the land of their boss while receiving just enough money for them to survive. The words change, everything else stays the same. For a capitalistic society to prosper, the lower classes needs to have enough capital to purchase products and invest in their own small enterprises. In a feudal society, that's just not the case.
@@spzl the government does produce, it produces soldiers, police and firemen. it produces infrastructure and often schools/universities and thus knowledge. ie its a service provider, one that provides services to all and thus all must pay (taxes)

Let me say each potential rulers ideals in 2 ways. The first will be the nicest way I can put it and the second is the worst way I can say it. Crush is an experienced ruler who already knows how government works so she knows who and what to appease. Anastasia is a businesswoman who knows how to make a buck and manipulate others to Luganica's benefit. Priscilla is high-ranking and willing to lend an ear to the troubles of the people. Emilia wishes to give as many people a happy ending. Felt wishes to give the poor a chance to catch up to the rich. Crush wants to get the rich richer and the poor poorer. Anastasia wants to sell her people for a few extra bucks. Priscilla is too high-ranking and is willing to sacrifice the country for her esteemed self. Emilia wants to create a country where everyone has an equal chance to be fucked. Felt wants to make everyone a lawless criminal. Crush seems like the best bet just due to the inequality of Luganica. Overall, Crusch seems like the best bet but I think Volcanica was just horny when he chose who to make potential rulers.

I would definitely say Emilia or Crusch. Emilia wants equality for all the people in Lagunica, but she also lacks the mental stability to be the ruler. I fell like Crusch knows what she would be doing as the ruler, because she knows what its like to be in positions of power. Her motivation also sets her apart from other. But on the other hands, she basically wants survival of the fittest in terms of the people. Priscilla legit wants just a dictatorship, Anastasia just wants fucking money, and felt could give less of a shit. Overall I would most likely go for Emilia
survival of the fittest, ie she wants meritcracy. which is the best form of system, it encourages equal treatment (as to find the best you need to look at everyone), and you also end up with free market capitalism (as the best survive, thus only competent businesses survive, no over arching monopolies as those collapse without government help, and anyone can start as buisness for similar reasons to equality) it also results in public education, as to find the best you need to reach everybody. ie equality of opportunity. no safety nets also encourages well thought out plans and hard effort. nations that adopt policies like this end up as free and fair and even the poor become wealthy by the standards of other systems.
My vote's been sold for years now, and from my pfp you can tell who it will go to - Felt. As much as I like Emilia (and every other candidate), I believe Felt would still make the best candidate. I don't wanna go into spoilers, but it's safe to say she understands the poor and unfortunate people. Were Reinhard to influence her (which in itself would be quite hard, even for Reinhardt, as Felt is pretty stubborn), she could become a great ruler who accepts the government. Hell, even without Reinhard's influence she would make for a pretty good ruler. I don't believe she would endorse crime, as she was forced by life to become a thief, despite not wanting to. In Arc 1 she says she has no other choice, other than selling her body. My vote goes to her and I hope she wins, although Tappei seems to be biased towards Emilia. Well, I'm biased towards Felt too, so I'm not exactly one to speak... Also, I believe Emilia's goals could be achieved another way. Be it ending racism or fixing that certain something about her past could theoretically be achieved without becoming a ruler. As much as I like and support her, she's my number two. Honestly I can see felt revising her views some but I agree with abolishing the nobility. And if she is actually part of the royal family she should get in. Emilia's goal is good but I just don't see her being effective, she is too naive and could easily be manipulated. But I agree, abolishing the monarchy would be best. Monarchies can have good rulers but then they can also have someone terrible.
not abolishing the monarchy limiting their power, constitutional monarchies are statistically the best and most stable societies. ideally you want a constitutional monarchy with democratic elements (ie an elected prime minister), exactly how limited the monarch is and how powerful the elected leader is is debatable (as both can result in terrible leaders [see Hitler and Robert mogaby for an examples of democratically elected terrible leaders, or Jacob Zoomer for a different kind of terrible leader] and really good leaders, amongst other strengths and weaknesses, finding the balance is the best answer) edit: the most important thing is to have a constitution that the leader is beholden to (which most monarchies had to some extent, in europe anyway), ie limited power of government.

I think that would be too unstable, with 3 people all wanting different things. However, if we could put Crusch in charge of military stuff, Anastasia in charge of Economic stuff, and Emelia in charge of making sure that the government works for the good of the people, they'd be unstoppable.

This may be an unpopular vote, but I'll say it just for argument's sake. I'd vote for Anastasia. While I agree that Crusch is probably the best person to elect in the short term, I think Anastasia would have more long term benefits. While her company would be the primary beneficiary of her rule, the boosted relation and economic leverage over foreign entities combined with the significant wealth increase to the country would bring more wealth to the country as a whole. While this wealth will most likely be centered around the top during Anastasia's rule, after her rule, it would most likely disperse throughout the other classes, especially if someone like Emelia follows after her. The nature of how her corporate interests expand within the country itself is another thing to consider. As Anastasia is an intelligent businesswoman, I think she would most likely use her leverage and funds to buy out smaller businesses, essentially absorbing them and their employees. While this may not be the best for the people, again, I am thinking about how it turns out after her rule. Crusch would simply lead to more of the same and Emilia's views could spark a revolution that may and or may not succeed. Felt and Priscilla aren't even worth considering since their desires and intents would simply lead to a downfall of the nation. So overall, this is my opinion on the matter, I do agree that morally speaking, Crusch and Emilia are probably the better picks, but with stability and forward looking growth in mind, I think Anastasia would probably be the better pick overall. I do like to play devils advocate as well, so maybe the love for Crusch and Emilia is why I'm going this way too haha.

Anastasia if only wanted to become rich I don't think Julius would follow her. Priscilla seems like someone with a dark and sad past who wants revenge or to end something. After arc 5 I think I'd call her the current strongest and wisest of the candidates. She was able to do something that even Reinhard Subaru and Emilia combined couldn't accomplish while she just casually did it with a seemingly useless non-combatant.

I'd vote for Emilia, for pretty much the reasons you outlined here; Her pro-equality policies would do a lot to help Lugunica, and heal the wounds of the Demi-Human War, and I think she's also wise enough to transition the Kingdom to a Republic or Constitutional Monarchy upon or even before her passing, and that's not something I think any of the other candidates would do, except maybe Felt, and her methods would probably be less of a peaceful transition than a violent civil war. If I had to rank the other candidates, it'd probably be (Pre-Memory Loss) Crusch > Priscilla > Anastasia > Felt. I can't say I'm the biggest fan of Crusch's pro-military policies, but she's at least a decent person, and smart and skilled enough to run the Kingdom well. Priscilla is basically the status quo candidate, which isn't great, but her luck would at least ensure that Lugunica prospered economically, if nothing else. Anastasia seems decent at first glance, but I absolutely don't trust a crossover between business and government, even if she herself seems to have a good head on her shoulders. Lastly, while I agree with at least some of what Felt is saying about abolishing the Nobility, her trying to actually put any of it into effect would start a civil war, and without any plan for what comes next, the country would fall into anarchy and chaos.
Anarchy in real life typically is mistaken for abolishment of government but is actually abolishment of state, the police and military, to what extent this would be is on different levels depending on who you ask, but most people agree we still need peace keepers/social workers, but not gunslingers whose sole purpose is too protect property. It would be best if a council of the three were elected, Anastasia, Felt and Emilia, but hey that's just my opinion.
When considering the Kingship one thing that needs to be analyzed is the power brokers in the kingdom. Lagunica appears to have a powerful nobility as well as a strong merchant class and the King does not appear to be an unquestioned ruler so the broader question is which candidate is capable of gathering support from the powers that be in the kingdom in order to solidify their rule. Even dictators are subject to being deposed if they don't keep their power base happy (it appears to be unlikely the Dragon would intervene on the King's behalf). While the selection is talking about which candidate is the most accomplished, more broadly there are likely a large number of political factors behind the scene which are hard at work making sure the selection only goes to a candidate that will benefit them, or at least isn't hostile to their interests. So in analyzing the candidates, the question becomes which candidate can accrue a sufficient power base among the nobility and mercantile classes to avoid being deposed quickly. She is a Lagunican noble who doesn't want to do much in the way of reforms that would effect the nobility. Her desire to end the pact with the dragon is questionable but it wouldn't impact the nobility or mercantile class very much so they'll be comfortable supporting her. Crusch offers continuation of the existing power structure and that works for the powerful men and women of the Kingdom. Anastasia is a foreigner which is one count against her as far as the nobility is concerned, and her being a commoner is another strike but her "rags to riches" story is likely inspiring to the merchant class and the underclasses so we'll call that one a draw. Anastasia mostly appears to be concerned with financial matters and she is not likely to institute any kind of sweeping socio-political reforms that would damage the profits or the privileges of the powerful. As long as she continues to profit she'll likely be ok with most decisions advocated by the Lagunican powers that be, and the nobility and powerful merchants can work with that. Priscilla is not likely to be favored by the powers that be. She's a foreigner, and a hereditary enemy to Lagunica to boot, but what's worse from the view of the nobility and the merchants is that Priscilla cannot be controlled. Priscilla does whatever she wants and she's indifferent to it benefiting anyone but her. She trusts her luck to carry her through. She's nearly impossible for the nobles to control and manipulate because she simply doesn't care what they think or want. They can't try to counsel her or even buy her off like they could with Crusch and Anastasia because she simply doesn't care; so they have no means of manipulating her rule. She's also too abrasive in terms of personality to be popular with the underclass so it's likely that Priscilla's reign would be characterized by an unstable alliance with various powers and her rule would end abruptly if and when her whims crossed their interests one too many times. Felt is openly dangerous to the powers that be. Her entire platform is dedicated to curtailing their power and their privileges. She's popular with the lower classes but without established support from the nobles or major merchants, it would be very hard to motivate the commoners to actually take effective action in her favor. That said, she is likely a child of the old royalty and that gives her status. If Felt got the throne, I would strongly expect the nobility to keep throwing men at her hoping to get her a consort or husband who could influence and control her. If he proves unable to 'tame' her, then the next best thing would be to try and get Felt pregnant as quickly as possible. Once she produces an heir, Felt can be killed off and the kingdom given over to a regent selected from the nobility until the baby grows up; a baby who will be carefully groomed to support the existing status quo and the interests of the nobility. This puts the nobility in direct control of the country and is not an unattractive position for the nobility to be in. Emilia is probably in the worst position of all. Her goal of creating an egalitarian utopia is threatening to the nobility for political, social, and economic reasons. She's literally threatening to upend the entire social and that's horrifying to the powers that built it and profit from its current configuration. Worse, she's a half elf so the nobles can't even get her to produce an heir and then kill her off to solidify the situation because a quarter elf on the throne would be an enduring reminder of the upended social order and thus would be intolerable to the nobility. If Emilia came to the throne, unless she had developed powerful alliances to stabilize the situation, she would probably be facing down a coup or a civil war very very quickly.
Exaaactly, to be honest, beyond her half elven heritage, the thing to fear most about Emillia succeeding the election is the possibility of something akin to the events surrounding the french revolution will occur... Except this time magic is involved, making everything WAY WORSE
Priscilla is currently the most popular candidate tho. Also, the Lugnicans don't actually know she is the daughter of the previous vollachian emperor, since she's supposed to be dead.
I'd vote for Emilia because she’s the only candidate focused on addressing the country's underlying problems by delivering real change and I wish country had more politicians like her. I think Crusch's plan is very short-sighted because wars between Lugunuica and Vollachia only stopped when the covenant with Volcanica was formed so abandoning it would inevitably led to war.

Crusch Karsten has my vote, for the short run and emilia in the long run though Crusch would be the best candidate for now until a proper public school system can be implemented moving towards a democratic nation with an educated population.

Crusch is a good option to create a more stable nation that isn't reliant on Reinhard/Dragons just to exist. However, like the video stated, her dream and her own upbringing blind her to the needs of the people that exist outside her ideal military state. Priscilla is your standard haughty monarch, but the thing is that she can probably improve the nation on all fronts but social. While she's personally nasty, she'll protect her people and has the divine luck to do so. But she's more likely to cut out and replace failing areas of the kingdom. So rip vulnerable groups that similarly don't fit her ideals. Of all the candidates, they're the best bets for a stable nation in their fantasy world. Emilia says things that I can agree with, but she's not a leader in any capacity. She can't move forward without someone like Subaru, Roswaal, or Puck pulling the strings for her. She's only now finding herself but is still missing half the vertebrae all the others started with. The other two are literally either status quo vs same issues as above but maybe worse.

I'm curious about Hoshin. If im not mistaken, like Felt, she also grew up in poverty. Her now being very wealthy and in a position of power, I wonder if she still feels empathy for those less fortunate than her, even if she doesn't show it immediately.
Definitely Crush if she still had her memories. She would be a strong leader in international affairs, protecting the interest of the people as well as protecting them from foreign enemies. On internal affairs all hard working people would be rewarded and be able to improve their standard of living. I also believe people in the lower end of the poverty spectrum would be able to improve their situation. As people in general get richer, there would be a better economy and more jobs for more people with higher pay. I also think Crush would make a military. Homeless people could enlist and be employed by the government. In the army one would get food and shelter and after their service they would get benefits from the government and a nice pay. So Crush has my vote if she still had her memories.

They are on good terms right now and their goals aren't mutually exclusive (Emilia cares about social aspect of the country, while Crush cares about military strength, self-sufficiency and independence of the country) so it's not too far fetched in case of Emilia being chosen.
The direction in which Emilia wants to go is the right one, but i doubt she would be capable of doing anything alone with her camp, since she is basically going against the whole ruling class. With backing from Crush, authority and respect that she posses in the ruling class, aswell as her divine protection, i think they could pull it off.
When it comes to Crush I'm not sure about the deal with the dragon, but if Crush actually cares about the country aside form the dragon, and wants to make it stronger, I don't see why she wouldn't accept Emilia's request for help.

I'm interested by how Subaru would effect things, even though he is a bit of a dolt, he has a better understanding of what system of governments work. though he would need to learn a lot more about politics and how to run a country, but if he did it would be cool to see him become somewhat of an adviser. Truth be told I could see all 5 of them would start a revolution, so there really isn't any safe option. Crush would have a smaller revolt than the others, but because she wants to cut ties with the dragon I would think that a large portion of people would either fear the Dragons Wrath or just be straight up more conservatives in there thinking.
I thought a little about how Emilia could subdue the racist minds of the people. The reason people are so bigoted is really because of the evil presence of the Witch Of Envy, so what if Emilia just became the opposite of that. It would be hard but if Emilia become one of the greatest leaders in Lugnica history then she could act as a counter balance to the Witch of Envy. Though that would be near impossible I believe it would be the most effective way, without starting another war and winning, besides if the demi-humans won a race war than they would just become racist towards human. Priscilla isn't all bad, you see in arc 5 when Heinkel threatens to kick Felt and Rinehart out of the Astrea lands, that Priscilla clearly says that the people won't follow him just cause he's the lord, especially after Felt came in and made everything better. So she clearly understands that she can't be a total asshat and will adress the problems that are brought up.

Overall, none of the candidates are focused on libertarianism and free market, aside from Felt, which doesn't really count since she's a child who doesn't know nothing, pretty much. So I'd go for Crusch, she's the one who suits the most for leadership, aside from her great experience in politics, management and her blessing, that allows her to know whether anyone is lying or not.
In a political spectrum, Crusch seems to be more towards a conservative monarchism. She doesn't seem interested to change the status quo and is only focusing on her modus operandi. Using the existence of current Establishment to her and nation's benefit is her goal, more and over.
Emilia lacks experience only. She'd be a good leader, very likely to lower taxes and use public incomes to help the needing people. With low taxes, the poor people would get more money to their own, the entrepreneur would benefit as well lowering their product cost production and selling for lower prices. More job surveys would happen and the Kingdom's economy would prosper.
The sames goes for Crusch in a lower percussion.

A pre-industrial society functions in a vastly different way than a post-industrial one. When most people live off subsistence farming then all of this free market stuff becomes kinda meaningless.

The State doesn't produce anything, but redistributes other people's goods. Who really makes economy grow is the market itself. The market nothing more that the common people, the individual owners, the micro, small and big enterpreuner, the economy is made by people by their own. There isn't something more expensive on Earth that something the State gives you "for free".
In a feudal society, most of the economy is dominated by subsistance farming. People produce just enough food to survive and have little surplus. Capitalism is based around surplus production. You produce not to survive, but to sell and adquire capital. People in feudal societies can't do that because there is no surplus to sell!
Admittedly, I know very little of the economics of the Re:Zero world. It is possible that their farming techniques would be enough to produce a significant enough food surplus to kickstart a capitalist economy, but even so, how would you propose that happens? It's a feudalistic society, remember? The vast majority of people don't own land but rather work in the land of their lord under a contract. If feudalism were abolished and capitalism implemented without any sort of land reform then life for the average peasant would barely change. Istead of working under a feudal contract that allows them to work the land and feed themselves in return to providing services to their lord, now they work the land of their boss while receiving just enough money for them to survive. The words change, everything else stays the same.
For a capitalistic society to prosper, the lower classes needs to have enough capital to purchase products and invest in their own small enterprises. In a feudal society, that's just not the case.

Let me say each potential rulers ideals in 2 ways. The first will be the nicest way I can put it and the second is the worst way I can say it.
Crush is an experienced ruler who already knows how government works so she knows who and what to appease. Anastasia is a businesswoman who knows how to make a buck and manipulate others to Luganica's benefit. Priscilla is high-ranking and willing to lend an ear to the troubles of the people. Emilia wishes to give as many people a happy ending. Felt wishes to give the poor a chance to catch up to the rich.
Crush wants to get the rich richer and the poor poorer. Anastasia wants to sell her people for a few extra bucks. Priscilla is too high-ranking and is willing to sacrifice the country for her esteemed self. Emilia wants to create a country where everyone has an equal chance to be fucked. Felt wants to make everyone a lawless criminal.
Crush seems like the best bet just due to the inequality of Luganica. Overall, Crusch seems like the best bet but I think Volcanica was just horny when he chose who to make potential rulers.

My vote's been sold for years now, and from my pfp you can tell who it will go to - Felt. As much as I like Emilia (and every other candidate), I believe Felt would still make the best candidate. I don't wanna go into spoilers, but it's safe to say she understands the poor and unfortunate people. Were Reinhard to influence her (which in itself would be quite hard, even for Reinhardt, as Felt is pretty stubborn), she could become a great ruler who accepts the government. Hell, even without Reinhard's influence she would make for a pretty good ruler. I don't believe she would endorse crime, as she was forced by life to become a thief, despite not wanting to. In Arc 1 she says she has no other choice, other than selling her body. My vote goes to her and I hope she wins, although Tappei seems to be biased towards Emilia.

Also, I believe Emilia's goals could be achieved another way. Be it ending racism or fixing that certain something about her past could theoretically be achieved without becoming a ruler. As much as I like and support her, she's my number two.

This may be an unpopular vote, but I'll say it just for argument's sake. I'd vote for Anastasia. While I agree that Crusch is probably the best person to elect in the short term, I think Anastasia would have more long term benefits. While her company would be the primary beneficiary of her rule, the boosted relation and economic leverage over foreign entities combined with the significant wealth increase to the country would bring more wealth to the country as a whole. While this wealth will most likely be centered around the top during Anastasia's rule, after her rule, it would most likely disperse throughout the other classes, especially if someone like Emelia follows after her. The nature of how her corporate interests expand within the country itself is another thing to consider. As Anastasia is an intelligent businesswoman, I think she would most likely use her leverage and funds to buy out smaller businesses, essentially absorbing them and their employees. While this may not be the best for the people, again, I am thinking about how it turns out after her rule. Crusch would simply lead to more of the same and Emilia's views could spark a revolution that may and or may not succeed. Felt and Priscilla aren't even worth considering since their desires and intents would simply lead to a downfall of the nation. So overall, this is my opinion on the matter, I do agree that morally speaking, Crusch and Emilia are probably the better picks, but with stability and forward looking growth in mind, I think Anastasia would probably be the better pick overall. I do like to play devils advocate as well, so maybe the love for Crusch and Emilia is why I'm going this way too haha.

After arc 5 I think I'd call her the current strongest and wisest of the candidates. She was able to do something that even Reinhard Subaru and Emilia combined couldn't accomplish while she just casually did it with a seemingly useless non-combatant.

I'd vote for Emilia, for pretty much the reasons you outlined here; Her pro-equality policies would do a lot to help Lugunica, and heal the wounds of the Demi-Human War, and I think she's also wise enough to transition the Kingdom to a Republic or Constitutional Monarchy upon or even before her passing, and that's not something I think any of the other candidates would do, except maybe Felt, and her methods would probably be less of a peaceful transition than a violent civil war.
If I had to rank the other candidates, it'd probably be (Pre-Memory Loss) Crusch > Priscilla > Anastasia > Felt. I can't say I'm the biggest fan of Crusch's pro-military policies, but she's at least a decent person, and smart and skilled enough to run the Kingdom well. Priscilla is basically the status quo candidate, which isn't great, but her luck would at least ensure that Lugunica prospered economically, if nothing else. Anastasia seems decent at first glance, but I absolutely don't trust a crossover between business and government, even if she herself seems to have a good head on her shoulders. Lastly, while I agree with at least some of what Felt is saying about abolishing the Nobility, her trying to actually put any of it into effect would start a civil war, and without any plan for what comes next, the country would fall into anarchy and chaos.
Anarchy in real life typically is mistaken for abolishment of government but is actually abolishment of state, the police and military, to what extent this would be is on different levels depending on who you ask, but most people agree we still need peace keepers/social workers, but not gunslingers whose sole purpose is too protect property. It would be best if a council of the three were elected, Anastasia, Felt and Emilia, but hey that's just my opinion.
When considering the Kingship one thing that needs to be analyzed is the power brokers in the kingdom. Lagunica appears to have a powerful nobility as well as a strong merchant class and the King does not appear to be an unquestioned ruler so the broader question is which candidate is capable of gathering support from the powers that be in the kingdom in order to solidify their rule. Even dictators are subject to being deposed if they don't keep their power base happy (it appears to be unlikely the Dragon would intervene on the King's behalf). While the selection is talking about which candidate is the most accomplished, more broadly there are likely a large number of political factors behind the scene which are hard at work making sure the selection only goes to a candidate that will benefit them, or at least isn't hostile to their interests. So in analyzing the candidates, the question becomes which candidate can accrue a sufficient power base among the nobility and mercantile classes to avoid being deposed quickly.

Crusch is probably the most likely candidate. She is a Lagunican noble who doesn't want to do much in the way of reforms that would effect the nobility. Her desire to end the pact with the dragon is questionable but it wouldn't impact the nobility or mercantile class very much so they'll be comfortable supporting her. Crusch offers continuation of the existing power structure and that works for the powerful men and women of the Kingdom.
Anastasia is a foreigner which is one count against her as far as the nobility is concerned, and her being a commoner is another strike but her "rags to riches" story is likely inspiring to the merchant class and the underclasses so we'll call that one a draw. Anastasia mostly appears to be concerned with financial matters and she is not likely to institute any kind of sweeping socio-political reforms that would damage the profits or the privileges of the powerful. Priscilla is not likely to be favored by the powers that be. She's a foreigner, and a hereditary enemy to Lagunica to boot, but what's worse from the view of the nobility and the merchants is that Priscilla cannot be controlled. Priscilla does whatever she wants and she's indifferent to it benefiting anyone but her. She trusts her luck to carry her through. She's nearly impossible for the nobles to control and manipulate because she simply doesn't care what they think or want. They can't try to counsel her or even buy her off like they could with Crusch and Anastasia because she simply doesn't care; so they have no means of manipulating her rule. She's also too abrasive in terms of personality to be popular with the underclass so it's likely that Priscilla's reign would be characterized by an unstable alliance with various powers and her rule would end abruptly if and when her whims crossed their interests one too many times.
Felt is openly dangerous to the powers that be. Her entire platform is dedicated to curtailing their power and their privileges. She's popular with the lower classes but without established support from the nobles or major merchants, it would be very hard to motivate the commoners to actually take effective action in her favor. That said, she is likely a child of the old royalty and that gives her status. If Felt got the throne, I would strongly expect the nobility to keep throwing men at her hoping to get her a consort or husband who could influence and control her. If he proves unable to 'tame' her, then the next best thing would be to try and get Felt pregnant as quickly as possible. Once she produces an heir, Felt can be killed off and the kingdom given over to a regent selected from the nobility until the baby grows up; a baby who will be carefully groomed to support the existing status quo and the interests of the nobility. This puts the nobility in direct control of the country and is not an unattractive position for the nobility to be in.
Emilia is probably in the worst position of all. Her goal of creating an egalitarian utopia is threatening to the nobility for political, social, and economic reasons. She's literally threatening to upend the entire social and that's horrifying to the powers that built it and profit from its current configuration. Worse, she's a half elf so the nobles can't even get her to produce an heir and then kill her off to solidify the situation because a quarter elf on the throne would be an enduring reminder of the upended social order and thus would be intolerable to the nobility. If Emilia came to the throne, unless she had developed powerful alliances to stabilize the situation, she would probably be facing down a coup or a civil war very very quickly.
Exaaactly, to be honest, beyond her half elven heritage, the thing to fear most about Emillia succeeding the election is the possibility of something akin to the events surrounding the french revolution will occur... Except this time magic is involved, making everything WAY WORSE

I'd vote for Emilia because she’s the only candidate focused on addressing the country's underlying problems by delivering real change and I wish country had more politicians like her. I think Crusch's plan is very short-sighted because wars between Lugunuica and Vollachia only stopped when the covenant with Volcanica was formed so abandoning it would inevitably led to war.

Crusch is a good option to create a more stable nation that isn't reliant on Reinhard/Dragons just to exist. However, like the video stated, her dream and her own upbringing blind her to the needs of the people that exist outside her ideal military state.
Priscilla is your standard haughty monarch, but the thing is that she can probably improve the nation on all fronts but social. While she's personally nasty, she'll protect her people and has the divine luck to do so. But she's more likely to cut out and replace failing areas of the kingdom. So rip vulnerable groups that similarly don't fit her ideals.
Of all the candidates, they're the best bets for a stable nation in their fantasy world. Emilia says things that I can agree with, but she's not a leader in any capacity. She can't move forward without someone like Subaru, Roswaal, or Puck pulling the strings for her. She's only now finding herself but is still missing half the vertebrae all the others started with. The other two are literally either status quo vs same issues as above but maybe worse.
Why cant it be a joint venture? Kinda like branches of government. Emilia can be the Voice for the people, Crusch can be in charge of the military and so forth.
I cant wait for The Prophecy of the Throne to come out so we can get some more in depth knowlage on the election. I doubt its canon but im still excited.

I'm curious about Hoshin. If im not mistaken, like Felt, she also grew up in poverty. Her now being very wealthy and in a position of power, I wonder if she still feels empathy for those less fortunate than her, even if she doesn't show it immediately.
Definitely Crush if she still had her memories. She would be a strong leader in international affairs, protecting the interest of the people as well as protecting them from foreign enemies. On internal affairs all hard working people would be rewarded and be able to improve their standard of living. I also believe people in the lower end of the poverty spectrum would be able to improve their situation. As people in general get richer, there would be a better economy and more jobs for more people with higher pay. I also think Crush would make a military. Homeless people could enlist and be employed by the government. In the army one would get food and shelter and after their service they would get benefits from the government and a nice pay. So Crush has my vote if she still had her memories.
