    We had Professional painters prep 300sq ft of concrete deck around our pool according to instructions including Muratic acid etching to a very clean surface, applied thin 1st Coat Granite Grip as base coat allowed 24 hrs to dry as we were applying product in Texas and morning shade was best for application. Following manufacturer's warning not to apply in direct sunlight or above 90 degrees. Second coat of Granite grip applied as video instruction did not cover, leaving unavoidable roller marks. Five different painters had a go at rolling, and after 24 hours determined the sand aggregate within the product was not homogenous and was not spreading evenly. 5 Gal covered 2 coats of 300 Sq ft. We bought 2 more gallons and applied the third coat with another 1/4 adhesive roller, still upon drying we have roller marks, hi-low aggregate, uneven areas visible. Another CZcams DIY guy posted same experience and said absolutely need to spray the 3rd coat, probably spraying the 2nd coat would be advantageous as well. Our painter concluded it is the product, not the rolling technique, if you are having issues on a large area, switch to a sprayer, as this video suggests, but does not emphasize. We are happy overall as the product appears durable and bonded well. Good luck guys.

    If my concrete is broom swept and already feels like 150 grit sand paper, is the etching still required?

    • @BehrPaints
      @BehrPaints  Před 4 lety +3

      Great question. If the concrete isn't porous, we still recommend etching. To do a porosity test, sprinkle a few drops of water onto the floor. If it gets absorbed fairly quickly, you may skip etching since your concrete is already rough. We hope this helps.

    Do you think I can "Hide" crack repair with this? When I patch up cracks with filler, the filler is never the same color and you can tell there was a crack there. Could this be put on top to "mask" and "hide" so that a new home buyer or home inspector can "NEVER" tell that there was a crack and repair?

    • @BehrPaints
      @BehrPaints  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Anonymous,
      Thanks for writing in. The Granite Grip is a great product that does fill in hairline cracks up to 1/8". However, if the cracks are larger than that, you'll need to repair those with a paintable concrete filler before applying it. Also, it's very important that all label instructions for prep and application are followed to ensure a successful project. And keep in mind that while two coats are necessary, additional coats may be required to hide previous surface imperfections or cover over dark colors. Good luck!

      @@BehrPaints Thank you for your response! One more question on the proper use of the acid to prep the floor. How do I get it off without washing it into my plants and killing my landscape or grass? Is there a special mop? Some people are saying to throw tons of baking soda at it before rinsing.
