      Thanks again for the kind words, just my luck with the parts. I kept the parts problem in as I just want to show people what it's like working on your own bike.

    Was wondering about the plunger assembly in two of the carbs. Possibly the secondary fuel circuit?
    What exactly does it do?
    I noticed in mine the springs are not the same ( possible previous owners DIY) and the bike hangs at high revs if I blip the throttle.
    Only one plunger seems to raise and fall, the other seems jammed, would this effect the carbs ability to return to idle quickly?

    • @Classicmotorbikes
      @Classicmotorbikes  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Shane, I'm no expert on the flatslide carbs, sometimes they are called a pumper carb as when you blip the throttle it squirts a little bit of fuel into the engine, some people do disconnect them, but I normally only deal with CV carbs. Sorry I can't be of more help

    Great video, 2 question please, do you have any idea how to remove the carburetor air box from a 1986 Gsxr 1100
    Also can I install Mikuni 36 on a stock engine?
    Thank you

    Very helpful videos. Thanks for keeping it real! Can anyone help me with figuring what a bike like this is worth? I have a 1992 gsxr 750 and once it is back into tip top shape I'm curious what it would go for now. I look on ebay and I see one going for almost 10 grand. KBB tells me its worth 2,300. (I'm in the U.S.) It has 18k miles on it. Everything is stock sans paint job.

      Hello Klay, glad you are enjoying the videos, not sure I could help with the value but there are some great Facebook groups that might be able to help, have a search for slingshot GSX-R and you should find them.

      They don’t sell a put together all in one kit for the flat slide carbs but every piece is still available piece by piece.

    ebay parts for carbs? Seems sketchy. I have heard it is best to get OEM parts rather than copies. Like for Mikuni carbs off Suzukis, get parts from Suzuki.
    Much respect though, as disassembly down to the individual carbs makes me nervous. Like I will forget the assembly order, or forget how it goes back together. Can you add a closeup of the old emulsion tube? Next to the new?

    • @Classicmotorbikes
      @Classicmotorbikes  Před 3 lety +1

      The carb repair kit comes from Japan so I'm happy with the quality, but your are right OEM is normally the way forward. I would take a photo of the old and new stuff but I don't have them anymore, I'll make sure to do it in the future 👍 I'd be lying if I said it doesn't make me nervous as well, it's all the small springs and linkages, but I'm lucky I can watch the video back if I get stuck anywhere.

      Yes, and different year carbs will still work. Stick with stock CV style cards not the flat slides shown in this video. MUCH easier to work on and they where factory
