The Aprilia SR 150 is just a lot of enthusiasts have been waiting for, when it comes to automatic scooters. It looks smashing, drawing inspiration from Aprilia's racy superbikes, has a 150cc engine that promises to set your pulse racing with its likeable performance and sporty handling. Of course, the Aprilia name on the scooter is enough to entice a whole lot of enthusiasts, irrespective of whether they're college students or superbike owners. So while it seems to tick all the right boxes, we're trying to see if it can do justice to the Aprilia brand by being exciting enough to ride.

Is the seat and suspension Comfortable enough for long distance travelling?

I need to test drive
Today I test drove the SR150 for 20 minutes and put it through its paces and I found it to be really horrible. The suspension feels like I am riding a bicycle from the 90s like the BSA-SLR bicycle. The bike pulled on one side, maybe because it was new dunno. The build quality by the looks of it looks good but the whole body is nothing but plastic, there is absolutely no use of metal whatsoever on the body. The Service adviser said that even the foot pegs are plastic and I was like WTF? Also there is no side stand and it cannot be fitted as an accessory. Also the SA said that this does not have a monocoque chassis so dunno about that.
The braking was very good and the pickup and performance was awesome. The bike is very very tall and my wife/mother wont be able to use it at all. I have since dropped the idea of buying this due to the horrible suspension and use of all plastics in the body.
I think this bike is for enthusiasts and enthusiasts only and not for daily commute. Even for enthusiasts, make sure you have a back and spine made of steel otherwise I can guarantee back pain on this even if it is driven for short distances on less than decent roads

I bought the SR150 exactly a year ago. Impulse purchase. A year on and 14,000 kms later, I do not regret it. No major quality issues and the thing is a real mile muncher on the highway. I did a Hyderabad Mumbai Hyderabad and a Hyderabad Kerala Hyderabad trip and faced absolutely no issues. The bone-jarring ride gets better over time. The thing is not designed for bad city roads anyway. No wonder this is selling really well now.
you are just complaining about a racy vs comfort..any racy has stiff suspension for cornering . even if you drive a Lamborghini on Indian roads you will say suzuki wagon R is the best...They are like express the speed..not boring machines..

Is the ride too bumpy for daily city commute? I am looking to replace my Honda Trigger with a scoot, and thought this could be a good replacement with those front telescopic forks, I am little disappointed to hear that. I have test driven Vespa 150 SXL and Suzuki Access 2016 both of which were good enough for me, far better than Activa. Was hoping this will be in a better league.
Well, it is better than the Vespa, also you can go for it, the power is better than Activa and it good to ride.
what about service? is the Aprilia have enough service centers in India?
That might be a bit of a problem as it is a newly launched vehicle. They do not have a strong network of service centres in India as of now but you can expect it to improve in the coming future.

this looks like a cross between a scooty nd a dio...but seriously... it doesnot look from this age... it should have been launched 20 yrs ago...don't think this will make any dent in the market...let's wait and watch!

It should, However, I would still suggest you to take a test ride.
ride 40 to 50 speed until 2500km! use both brakes. dnt use for stunts. ride carefully in rain.

Hey!!! Was interested in knowing how fast was it than Suzuki swish 125 to 60 .And was curious abt the gross weight.I believe I m da first to book in Bangalore.
I will not be able to share the acceleration, However, the top speed is 92 km/h and the kerb weight is 110 KG.

Go for it (Aprilia SR150), it has got more engine displacement and power than Swish.

For normal usage, Activa and Aprillia SR 150 should be bought if you want a high performance scooter.

I'm not seeing this on either the USA or international Aprilia websites.
This one is exclusively for India.
Its sold as the Piaggio Typhoon in the US and as the SR Motard in Europe. You just didn't look properly :P
It's not a good choice if you're buying this for daily commute. They priced it under 70k it might looks pretty cheap but the reason it is cheap because they use cheap material in it. Would still prefer Activa, Access and jupiter .

They have been slightly on the firmer side and work pretty well.
This must have been equipped with rear disk would be better........

in such a big city like ludhiana where every brand sells piaggio shut down their showroom and all vespas are now idle at their homes please talk to piaggio for same

I believe it is tuned.
No they have.Its the same engine but the tuning is different.For more performance.The scooter goes above 100kmph and has mileage of around 40Kmpl since vespa gives that much.
+Aravind M indeep they have times the Vespa engine. also the crank case has been modified to fit in to the Aprilia.. though is churns out the same power as Vespa, it is peppier than Vespa and fast too..
