I do not know how to thank you. A 1 month old new RLC-830A stopped working. Your video allowed me to restore it to 100%.
A very useful video.
Thank you 1000!!!!
Frustrating that they left out two wires to save fractions of a penny. Thanks for solving the modified wire layout!
I encountered the same problem, I have 3 cameras with the same problem, you saved me man 👍 Cameras are working now thanks to you...from Saudi Arabia thank you
Well that works ... fired up a dead camera Reolink 811a. Already had the kit so that's a complete freeby. Thanks for your time and efforts making the video !
I found the pinout online somewhere and did basically exactly what your doing. The plug got wet and turned black and the camera went offline. I cut the bad socket off and used a male connector to quickly replace it seeing how I had some cable couplers already. I was working on a ladder trying to do this and at first it didn't seem to be talking to my Reolink NVR but went down another time to check and it was online. Wrapped everything up and put it under the eaves so it wouldn't get wet again. Been working fine for many months since and they should make their unique pinout available far easier than it is as I didn't want to buy a new camera just for a water damaged plug socket.
I should have just taken it down but I thought it would be simple to just use the standard ethernet cable pin setup till I cut it off🤬
Fantastic, I had two POIs water got into even with protectors installed correctly. Making my own this time. Thanks repaired both and they worked first time. 🙃
Totally helped me fix my rlc 833a. Used the water shield but it was swamped and burnt. Wiring setup was exactly what I needed. THANKS!!
Glad it worked out!
This video is great, thank you!!!!! saved me from having to buy 3 replacement cameras, as the ones I had suffered oxidation on the copper pins inside the RJ45 jack. Now I own a new pass-thru crimper tool too! Much better than the old stub-end ones.
don't forget to silicone paste the male ends to prevent oxidation of the pins 😉 👍🏽
Dan, thank you so much for sharing this video. I had ran into the same problem with water damage to the end of my outdoor security camera. I thought it was toasted and about to purchase a replacement. Your video saves me $$$. Thanks again, and please keep up the good work.
Thanks so much for the easy to follow wiring diagram. This fixed my problem in a cinch. Thank you! 🙂
Thank you! Im gonna try this one later
Thanks for helping me figure out the pin configuration.
This post saved me. Thank you for sharing this, I have a RLC-823A that had water in the Ethernet port and broken pins. Managed to salvage it by following your instructions. 🙏
Great to hear!
This video just saved me a lot of money that's what it did!!!!!!!!!
Thank you SO MUCH for creating and sharing this video!!! Exactly what I needed! 👍👍
I got some splice boards desoldered the punch down blocks. Sliced the camera port, soldered to PCB for splice. Soldered cat 6 on other side, potted the monstrosity with silicone. Been back in business for a year.
Thanks for the video. I had watched a few others, but the colors of the camera cable were different: in yours the combination is exactly as in mine. However, in my case the problem persists. The camera gets power but doesn't give me image. I might try repeating the process but a few inches closer to the camera, past the spot where the cable splits into RJ45 and power jack.
thanks for sharing the pinout! it works ❤
gracias por tu ayuda chaval
Works fine , thanks
What size should the coupler be? Is the size standard or do you need something smaller to fit into the waterproof box?
thanks ,i have same problem ,i did what u advised ,but camera working only with outside power supply ,can u help?
Thanks for the video. What is the internal part of the camera like. I only need cat 5, not power or reset. Are they soldered inside camera or connected using a plug?
The night owl camera has an 8 inch wire attached to the camera with a female port. the Ethernet cable plugs into it.

Hey 👋
I have a quick question for you. I’ve been trying to connect one of my cameras that has been unplugged (outside). I can’t get it to pair back up with the system. I came across your video after several hours of failure and now I think maybe this is the problem. How do I know if the camera (for whatever reason) just stopped working, or if the problem is like yours? Thank you 😊
in my CCTV cam, I have green, white-green, blue, white blue, then 2 black wires, then 2 red wire
My wired color are different
The trick for this not happening ever is to fill the connection with dielectric grease. The water cannot displace the grease so it can't ever go inside. The failure rate of these "waterproof" connections without grease is very high. czcams.com/video/UsQZdZv4e90/video.html
All your missing is duct tape #therighttoolsareimportant
Sure I have 8 cameras, not cost effective to buy$ 50.00 strippers to fix a $50.00 dollar camera. However it is cost effective to buy a $50.00 stripper to fix
Your problem in Las Vegas.😜
The "crimpers" are under 20 dollars he said which they are and as cheap as around 10 dollars
Can't the connection be cleaned with alcohol or do they absolutely need to be replaced? The exact same thing happened to one of my cameras and I don't want to have to buy an ethernet crimper. AND...which ethernet connectors to use? I see cat6 on amazon but is that what is used? AND....do you need to replace the cable end as well seeing s it too has gotten wet?
this doesn't count for POE over gigabit or the LED on the keystone
Sir great post is very informative
