For Tectone, the missing the shots is mostly tied to the chip you're running, close/medium/long range assist helps line up your reticle with the boss at that specific range and if it's off you miss, it's highly likely that Tectone's playstyle sticks him at the wrong range he's supposed to be, the main reason songbird is kinda easy to use is because of its blast radius, it's big, so even if you miss it usually hits unless the target was airborne, conversely it's easier to hit if you're the one airborne and the shot goes downward.

I think the steak and eggs podcast is probably the only podcast who’s ads and sponsors I actually watch through. The small sketches are so entertaining.
About the Pilebunker and melee tracking in general. There are parts that contribute to a stat called 'melee specialization' and that significantly affects how your melee tracking works. And there's a stat like that for all weapon types. Ranged, missile.. etc.
Unless the description is wrong melee specialization only affects melee damage. The stat that's important for making it easier to hit melee hits is on the booster called melee attack thrust and the starter booster is the best for melee builds.
The problem with Tectone's criticism of the aiming function in AC6 is he is neglecting the fact that you need to take trajectory into consideration. The way you and the target are moving also determines whether or not the shot misses.
Wait until he realizes that bullets and rockets in real life are not hitscan like Call of Duty.

Thank you, I was listening to you guys while I was passing a kidney stone and that helped ground me from the pain. However, I now have a pavlovian response of pure fear from hearing Tectone’s voice.
I think passing the kidney stone would be more fun then this episode. Listening to the host double down on his lack zof learning the game and getting better.
I have to say, the content of every episode is fantastic. I love the convo topics each week, the off-topic banter is always gold. But the most enjoyable part of every episode is the end credit reel. The snapshots of genuine joy are just priceless moments.

The auto lock on mechanic will aquire targets better / faster if you try to actively hold the target in your
Targeting circle, there are stats/ weapons that make it better or worse.
The idea is if you are centering them well you can lock on faster and get good shots off.

In earlier parts of the Armored Core series, we used to have a mini compass on the screen. Red triangles were enemies, and yellow triangles were missiles so you could kind of guesstimate when you needed to avoid homing missiles flanking you. The compass functioned the same in PvP so there were weapons that caused radar jams and there was a stat to resist it. We also used to have decoys you could deploy that would attract missiles and anti missile systems in our core which would automatically intercept which was purely RNG depending on how high the stat was. There were tons of depth and different builds we used to have. Armored Core 6 is much more simplified, don't like how the challenge of the game in PvE is to maximize stagger and damage to blow up the boss as fast as possible

23:00~ As a ps2 armored core fan, listening to Tectone complain about the mechanics of Armored Core VI is so cathartic. I once thought missiles were bullshit, then I learned how to dodge them. There is a mission in AC3 where you have to dodge missiles and you only get a hidden part when you take literally 0 damage from missiles.
Asmon misses point-blank Songbirds then says "I never miss" with such confidence. lol.

few tips for Tectone and people like him.. now that i heard what are his problems in Armored Core
- melee attack can be indeed canceled, you are not locked into animation. Either use quick boost button like you would doge.
- usually actions, like charging your weapons and such, can be canceled by Y as well.
- yes melee attacks can be dodged, thats why things like pile bunker ( "the drill" ) you use when the target is stunned, generally it is a good tactic to have a few high impact weapons to stun the target and then to unleash your high damage melee attack, if you want to focus on melee like that.
- when missiles follow you, start to strafe ( quick boost ) and when they get close altitude change or sudden acceleration in different direction shakes them off.
- be warry of effective and optimal range for your weapons, if you shoot a lot outside of that you are effectively wasting ammo.
- hard lock ( the lock on mechanic ), makes the weapons miss more, if you unlock the target and just keep the camera on target you will hit it more often ( that is not manual lock you can buy as os upgrade, but just a lock on mechanic that is there from the start ), coupled with keeping ideal range for your weapons, you will stun and melt your target pretty quickly.

My issue with differing release dates for gacha games, is the catchup for the events. I've been playing Konosuba: Fantastic Days, and all their holiday events are off by months. It's strange getting christmas and halloween event 3-4 months out of season.
I didnt even realize the April Fools joke event was a time limited event needed to be done in the one day because it was the wrong month. Just surprised the next day when it was gone.

I watch the whole podcast too, I'm not going to pretend like this is the best podcast I've ever listened to, but I do find myself listening to it a lot, even though I don't relate to a lot of the topics being discussed but there is sort of a seperate charm and just a good vibe to it that you just can't find easily elswhere, also the guests are often cool

I agree sometimes the conversation can devolve into repetitive, “I spent X amount of money, and i got this character” Thats just Gacha though in general wish it was not such a prominent topic. However I can still find a way to find comfort, and company in familiar faces.

AC6 is hard if you get married to a particular build. If you have a good variety of parts, it's easy. Also, the whole rocket deployment thing had me in stitches because it reminded me of the first few wipes I had on Margit where he would raise his staff and I would dodge, but he swung after the dodge and for whatever reason I couldn't get my lizard brain to understand that you have to dodge *after* lmao
