Sounds like you have a plan for sure Joe, we should start a club "brothers of the ratchet". I just spent 3 days in the garage myself, but I did wrench myself out of KLR hell, hope to sell off another one and be down to one good one this time next week. Last year on the Tenere I ran Dunlop trail max mission tires on my trip across America, put 10k miles on them and they look like I could do another 10k miles. Maybe a longer lasting option, made in America tire? I put a set on the new Blue T700 too, Mr Vtrack V1000 guy gives them thumbs up too. Apricate the update video, I almost texted you today. If they won't take chickens maybe a bushel basket of hummingbirds? Have a good ride tomorrow.

The Brothers of the Ratchet channel. Gotta say that one slow. Send me a pic of the 10,000 mile tire if you would Dave. Thanks!

Always a bit jealous of guys who can work on their bikes. I would'nt even know where to find the transmission on my bike. We have wonderful weather here in the UK at the moment, so the bike and me are making the most of it. All the best to you and Claus, sounds like she/he is in capable hands.

Hello Mark! Welcome. I may know my way around a spanner, but I can guarantee that I will quickly make a mess of things given any opportunity to do so. All the best. Joe.

Joe I have just spent 4 8hr days starting 6am-2pm on reassembly of my R100rs from rear crankshaft seal through to rear wheel as I explained and man have I been tired at end of each day but feel a great sense of achievement. Amazing you are literally about to do the same job! I’m hoping tomorrow Mon 13th to have ‘Clive’ 😂 running and complete a 1st test ride and check for leaks (Hoping for none). Enjoying your vlogs Joe and the progress on Mr K.

That’s exciting Dave and good to hear. I’m dragging my feet a bit because I know that once I begin, it has go to the conclusion. I haven’t been so far into the mechanicals as I will be going. I have to do the clutch for sure, not sure about the pressure plate. How difficult was the seal? I understand you have to block the crankshaft to keep it from moving before pulling the flywheel off. I’ll work up the courage here soon. Again, great news about your RS! If you think about it, send some pics of your bike to jdilpkle@gmail.com. I’d love to see them. All the best and good to hear off you Joe

Good morning Joe, it’s 615am here and just about to start wrenching. The seal was no problem I did use a tool to evenly draw it in and on mine there was a small seal on back of my flywheel, like an elastic band, not all models have them. I used Boxer Two Valve William / Brooks Airhead garage for info. I used Williams tip to prevent crankshaft moving forward, all good and used Williams method to remove main seal by levering out with a common seal puller and a bar as a fulcrum. I put a heavy duty clutch diaphragm on, it’s about 20% heavier to pull, I may regret that but will not know till I ride. Thought you should know.
I’m no expert self taught and YT trained 😂. I also did the seal on the oil pump but no further. All diy doable. I have many pics I shall select a few relevant shots and share with you. D

@J_BONDMI5 wonderful Dave! I’ll be looking to you for the straight scoop on the right way to do the wrenching!
Looking forward to seeing your steed.

Don't neglect the voltmeter while you're taking care of things.
On my R90S the original owner had added oil pressure & temperature gauges that matched the clock & voltmeter. In for a penny, in for a pound. 🌡️

The voltmeter is actually unhooked as is the clock. They both work, it I’m saving wear and tear on the clock mechanicals and the voltmeter needs looked at because it fluctuates when up and running. I’m open to any suggestions you may have. All the best. Joe
