Only just watched this. Very impressed. Am currently doing the Adventures in Plastic version of fab 1. That pink spay paint is the closest match for fab 1 very nice😊
Tremendous work, Martin. You had some intricate pieces to work with on this project. I was holding my breath when it went into the caustic soda, for fear of losing the headlights. Super paint match. Great detail work. Thumbs up from Switzerland, as always! 👍
I have that same model of Lady Penelope's Fab 1 which I got from a friend as part of a model trade. It still has its sliding roof and fold down grill, but the ammunition is missing. The only thing I did to this model was paint chrome along the sides to cover up the scratches, and touch up the body with matching nail polish.
Lovely restoration Martin and everything very well explained, got me wanting one of these now, gonna have to start looking on ebay😉😊 the pink was a pretty much perfect match and plenty shiny without laquer, brilliant job, love it👌👍😊 Take care, all the best, Nick.
Fantastic job Martin! That's going to display well and certainly one to be proud of. Nice video to watch and glad our 2 seated friends found some diacalm to sort out their little issue
Absolutely perfect Martin! I have this in the Matchbox version. I can hear Parker asking Lady P, "What do you think ma lady?" Love this casting and the result!
Hello Martin great restoration. When they came out I was too old. So I never had one. Great paint work .hope you and your family are keeping well regards Glyn
Well done on this puzzle Martin..you did an awesome restoration. As you said, it does not always goes the way you want it to. I have done restorations before and at the assembly point I totally messed up and had to start all over..But thanks to video editing!!!!
Blindly I had one and the missiles I would get be careful you’ll have someone’s eye out 😂😂,FAB Martin I wonder what Jeff meant we he would say ‘ I’ve got a hot one penny’ hehe poor Parker never got a look in FAB one got destroyed in thunderbird 6 it was in the cargo hold of sky ship 1 ,nice work mate 👍🏻😊all the best ,Mark
Wonderful Job Martin !! Your cheap pink paint looks perfect, better than some I've seen. Nice to see how all the internal gubbins works, surprisingly simple, compared to the likes of the 007 Aston. You were lucky to get an undamaged canopy, even the pink stripes. 👍👌😁
Thanks very much its appreciated, yes I was very lucky with that window unit I had been searching for many weeks ,and it payed off Yes the cheap paint was a bonus its very close . Thanks for your continued support my friend 👍
It's grrrrrrrreeeeeaaaat mate nice job on the fab 1. I remember seeing one of these when I was a young nipper snapper. I never had one though but I did have a bat mobile and a yellow submarine. Good old Parker..... I put your bags in the hair plane melady. Stay safe mate catch ya on the next one.👍
Outstanding Martin! As always. I do mostly Matchbox cars because corgi and Dinky are hard to find in South Carolina when I do there to costly for what they are. People see them on the internet and think there worth more than they are.
Hello Martin... love your vids...would like to see you do a corgi number 1126... that's the Ecurie Ecosse Racing Car Transporter... I did one but I can't get it back together...Keep up the good work!!!!
Amazing restoration. My concern would be the cheapness of the spray paint as it will probably discolour soon due to the inclusion cheap dyes and pigments.
Another fantastic restoration Martin, the "cheapo" pink spray paint looked perfect. Great commentary as always, and thanks for taking the time to show viewers how the missile launchers work. Looking forward to your next video, keep well and stay safe. All the best. Peter.
As always a beautiful restauration. And nice to see a glimpse of your dog;) One question why not put screws in the base for maybe fix something in the future like a spring or so ?
I could have ,but thay don't get played with so chances of it braking is minimal, I do use screws when the posts a narrow or very short. All the best Martin
Beautiful car to start with, fantastic end result! It amazes me to see that window in one piece, really to candidate to break after the first time it's played with! Oh yeah, it that a kingsize? Stay safe, cheers.
Thanks very much its appreciated, yes I was very lucky with the canopy, its a bit warped but I wasn't going to mess with it, no its not king size its just dinkys scales aren't that accurate.
Martin another wonderful resto looks great I also restored this model mine only needed a Parker and the missle's at the back an the main one out front but do you think I could find a pink spray paint I gave up looking I painted mine metal gold and it looks sweet Id like to get a nice original in nice shape job well done Martin
Awesome video Martin. A new subscriber with several original Dinky supermarionation-era models from my youth. Your video offers excellent insight to getting them in working order again. Question, if you don't mind - is there a specific rivet size for reattaching the base? Thanks again.
Hi how do i polish the silver bottom part mine is a bit dull ps i have never heard of autosoul i know nothing about cars what other stuff could i uses to polish it up .. kind regards karen .
Thanks very much, you don't need to know anything about cars Karen, auto sol is a metal polish witch you can get from a shop or store that sells car cleaning products, or if you have a rotary tool you can use the wire wheel attachment, or fine wire wool witch you can get from a good DIY store. All the best martin 👍
Hi. Really enjoyed that. Great result! I have one of these I'm hoping to restore over the winter months. just a couple of questions. Do you remember the total cost of the replica parts you had to buy? Also, is the paint you used acrylic based or enamel (oil) based? Thanks!
Very enjoyable video with great results, thanks for showing. What product/method did you use to polish the windscreen and canopy, please, and what size of rivet do you need to fasten the body and undercarriage together at the end?
Thanks very much, you can use sanding sticks the sort the ladys use for there nails the multi sided ones are good because they have the polishing or buffing side . Or wet and dry starting at about 240 and going up to about 3000. If it's not to badly scratched you can use auto sol metal polish , Finish of with clear floor polish . The rivets I use are 2.5mm . I hope this helps. All the best martin
