    If you put 1 twist in your strap it will not vibrate in the wind going down the road; )

      I always put a twist on both ends. But I would advise putting all ratchets on passenger side. If you get in a pickle and you need to pull over to adjust ratchets you are out of the road way and hopefully wont get hit.

    Binders should be in the center on each end.so it has a equal pull from both directions

    I’m moving a 20 ft container tommorow and had not thought of using straps as well as chains. Trucking is easy. Securing is tricky Or something like that. Good job!

      @@TruckandTravel actually it traveled well. One mistake I made the front chain non binder side I accidentally attached reverse. Net result was lt pulled same direction as the rear binder instead of opposing. Rookie mistake. It loosened.and box moved slightly on extreme rough road. The last mile was 4 wheel drive. I will watch your video again as I want to perfect process to move our 20 ft job site containers. Many thanks and safe travels. Takes no brains to be a driver. Takes all you got to be a good trucker!

    It's called a rub rail for a reason,to protect chains an straps,straps go on the inside if the rub rails,if u were to rub up against anything u would bust every strap,2nd u don't put all the binders on same side the end straps have ratchets on same side center strap rachets go on other side or all the pulling stress from straps is all pulling to the ratchet side,so if their staggered it pulls evenly straight down,,

    I always put the ratchets on the driver's side because then I can see them if something happens on the road but like you said we all do things are own way

    Leave more slack in the front/ rear chains before applying the binder. If that would slide the least big it will tighten the chain and you won't get it off the load

    Getting sideswipe with the straps on the outside of the rub rail can totally unsecure your load. Thats why you keep them on the inside bro

      And the straps are exposed for the entire height of the load. A sideswipe could tear a strap anywhere, not just at the rubrail. Strap outside the rubrail is not against the rules.

    if you need a little more leverage you could gently use a cheater bar on those ratchet straps or tuck the strap through the handle hole and pry up on the strap with your shoulder, nice video

    If you twist your straps they won't make the fllapping sound as your traveling you hear that loud noise as your driving when you don't put a twist in them

    You'll lucky having flat deck the entire length like that ... with mega ramps or the smaller ramps ... chaining that rear ain't as easy 😦

    U wanna make it easier an faster,,cut a 20 ft chain in 5 ft lengths an put a big clevis slip hook on 1 end of chain an no hook on the other end,just hook clevis hook on each container corner tie down an put binder on each chain on the side,cuts time in half an alot easier

    Hauled about 100 of them now...
    What's DOT specs on strap spacing and width?
    We've been using (5) 4" winched down ...2 closer up front...then every 10' till the rear...
    Is it regulation to chain the rear up?
    Also....what's the minimal width straps allowed 2"-?

    How do you find these container loads? I see them driving down the road all the time when I'm in my semi. Looks like an interesting hot shot business.

      We got them off load boards. They normally didn't pay well when we did them. They weight wasn't bad but the height catching all the wind, makes it a little rough on a pickup trucks transmission.

    Not sure about where you are, in Australia the ratchets dont count as part of the load, so they can sit outside, not way out, but if they sit outside the trailer they are not considered part of the load... if the handle fell down and stuck out heaps, then thats a fine.... Australia has thousands of dollars in fines, its crazy.... I think the truckers are honking at your partner as she is very attractive, just saying

      It's been awhile. I don't remember the weight that the chains can handle. It doesn't hurt to hover chain or over strap for DOT.

    I'll be hauling a 20ft container on Saturday.. We were just going to chain it like you did... Are the straps necessary? Obviously if doing straps on a 20 we'd only do 2 I assume, being half what you hauled?

      Personally I would do. 2 straps and 2 chains. I like to over do stuff. Just remember it doesn't hurt to ver strap, only hurts when you don't do enough.

    How do you secure 2 20ft containers on a 40ft flatbed? Just use chains on both ends since you can't access the center points on the containers and strap it down?

      Should be able to use chains in the center. I over do stuff. I think you could get away with 1 chain and 2 straps per container. If you are using a pickup truck, these containers will get your transmission hotter. I've noticed the tall items work my truck harder then if it was flat and heavier. Be safe, you got this.

    If you EVER almost get hit by the IDIOT drivers out there texting and driving when your having to check or adjusting your securement you will switch to curb side securements and storage box mounting!! Keeps the Traffic from Splashing you in adverse weather ect. It's just SAFER!

    You could put your binder on the back instead it might tighten up both sides of the chain more evenly.

    You don't have the pin lock setup on your trailer, would sure make it easier and safer, just my pinion.
