The one time I asked "every i6 that comes in is high miles and still running smooth,why did they ever stop putting these motors into American cars" to which I was told that because they were so reliable and bulletproof was the reason. They didn't want people having cars that lasts forever.

      @@torben707 now I am 16 after 2 years I am going to get my license and I am thinking of getting w124 I really like the design I am thinking of getting diesel one like 250d or 300d

    • @torben707
      @torben707 Před 2 lety

      @@stefanstefan2105 The W124 is a very good car. Maybe the best Benz? It is extremely well built. However as you are a young man, i would suggest, that you go for a petrol engine. I can fully recommend the 230E (2.3, 4 cylinder, apprx. 136 hp and 215 nm). Its a very solid and fairly economical engine. The 6 cylinder 300E is a great performing engine and lift the car to a higher (driving) level. But there is also the "small" 6 cylinder - 260E (2.6, apprx. 160 hp) which is a very good engine also.
      You're about to get your driving license and therefore i think the petrol will be more fun for you. However the diesels are great, solid engines, but to the "slow" side in terms driving dynamic. Its just to different ways to drive.
      If you go for diesel, then i would take the 300d (3.0 6 cylinder, preferably the turbo version, apprx. 150 hp and 275 nm) for instance the 1993-1995 models. Really great, solid cars and great performing and agile and fairly economical diesel engines.

    Extremely rare to see pre 2000s mercedes in my country without it falling apart from rust. Tbh that is all pre 2000s cars almost. Volvos and Saabs are usually in best condition from that time period here.
    Gotta love these late 80s and early 90s cars though, so simple and yet so reliable (as long as the rust has been kept in check).

    A proud owner of a 92 300E with +600k km on the clock. Had to re-build the engine (at 425k km) and the transmission (around 300k km). Dunno what the previous owner did to it when I bought it with 220k km on the clock. It has a wider rear diff. than I think 89 and older. 3.07 vs. 3.27 or something like that. This should allow higher speeds but not sure myself. Couldn't go past 200km/h where I live before speed traps were installed.
