Some advice. I heard you talking about critters getting into things while stored. If you spray pine sol in the area. They don't like it and will stay away. God bless
Excellent video Brandon & crew also have seen fuel filter cannister blow out like that before on Desiel motor because over due and that dirty fuel want drain out use Hot water 50% and plus 50 % vinegar flush out fuel lines plus before hit fuel injection pump plus injectors too also filters too! Bet that why manifold and gasket blew also super black ! When fire up get STP Total Treatment fuel injection and carb cleaner in fuel tank put 2 teaspoons of vinegar to plus some GM Automatic Transmission fluid type 2 or 3 in Brandon help clean up motor and fire up faster too on Cold Starts plus Hot Starts to ! May get smoke bit but clean out to then clear out and hope doing Engine Oil change plus filters to!
Depending on the hours on it I would pull the hydraulic pump and have it checked, if it scatters the whole system every hose, cylinders ect. would have to be removed and cleaned.
I don't know what favor of purple you use... but the Zep offering is good shit. The best is actually floor stripper used to remove wax etc. I usually go with ZEP there too. I use the garden sprayers for everything. Use a lot of the small hand sprayers.
That's the great thing about old equipment it was designed to run on any type of diesel be it clean or dirty. And many would be run on dirty diesel because it was a lot cheaper, cheap diesel means jobs being cheaper or/and bigger profits
Brandon -- I sure am enjoying these repair videos on the D8. Also since you mentioned that you did not video the part where there was some "choice words" I want to thank you for keeping your videos clean and as long as they are I will continue to watch.
Maintenance wasn't a priority with the previous owner! You are doing it right by going through and being sure that the inside will be as clean as the outside of the machine. Correct maintenance is the secret of long life for all mechanical equipment. You have to pay an arm and leg for one of these machines new, it is worth the cost of maintenance. Enjoy your videos and love the wide coverage of the many videos that you are putting out please keep up the good videos.
Good old simplicity at key! Them were pushers.. Good friend ran to d9gs on pull scrapers and they turned one up and gave it 500 more rpm and she rolled past the other 9g that usually needed the 7E to push it in the hard spots.
You might want to contact "Brian's Farming Video" on CZcams. They just replaced there tracks on there D8 and have the old tracks for sale. They look much better than what you have on your machine.
You just as well take all the belly pans off while you are at the fixing stage. Probably six inches deep in the pans. You'll be able to look up from the bottom side and see if you have any problems that you can't see from the top.
Those lines after years of heat are stiff as hell I own a 7 G an every time I see a hose issue I cry,, your lucky no belly pan removal,, you'll find don't use aftermarket parts stay with cat
Great work! Love that vintage caterpillar.
That’s great getting everything all done up correctly and avoid bs breakdowns. Really enjoying this project!!
I'm glad your dad is warming up to the camera!!!
Nice to know I'm not the only guy who rebuilds parts at the hardware section.
great job on the bushing and making the pin for it.. Matt from Diesel Creek would be proud of the work..
Now you done it. You cleaned it off you will find all kinds of leaks, great videos.

Love the TSC hitch pin solution. Simple and inexpensive!

Most likely that fuel tank has a lot of sludge in the bottom. God bless
I guess I'm the only one that saw the random piece of pizza at 6:38... I guess that dozer really is clean enough to eat off of...
I see you got the same golf shirt as me and every other welder I know. [ 18 holes] Keep video's coming great job.🍻
Amazing how "stuff" finds its way into the fuel tank.
Fuel filter = Crap - Trap 👍
Grease and check the universal joint while the covers are off.
Nice job! Where's Wilson, he should be helping.
Keep up the good work
Great video Brandon when you guys get done that dozer will run like a top 👍

I did similar work on my old D7s blade control linkages. New Heim joints to replace old clevis and pin linkages. It’s a great upgrade.
Thanks for sharing

High Pressure Hose . Keep those O Rings .
why t vodka in the combines andering if it would be good idea of putting a grease fitting in or on that pin to keep it llubed
If you could find a compressor out of a old refrigerator connect a hose suck out old fuel and oil put in drum would that help just thinking
I'll be damned. I've seen air filters collapsed but never a fuel filter
Go up to river bend hose in so bend they should have those fittings
Off subject but I have a set of L2 cab glass I would give you.

That red top pin is not tight enough in that bushing. It’s going to wear out faster than it should. Good luck to ya…

Yeah it needs one in time I'll get one for it
