  • Amelie, a French-language romantic comedy film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet that is over two decades old, is one of my favorite films of all time. So naturally I wanted to check out where this movie was filmed during my last trip to Paris. The movie was mostly shot in Montmartre, a large hill in Paris' 18th arrondissement. Come explore the cute neighborhood with me and walk the footsteps of Amelie, and crack some Creme Brulee too.

Excellent! Next time we're in Paris, I want to hunt down the locations. The only one I know of I've visited is Gare du Nord. We took the Eurostar from London to Paris. On another trip we took the Eurostar from Paris to London.
The shot comparison shows how strongly he chose to grade the footage. This would have been in the early stages of digital film grading. I wonder if Jean-Pierre Jeunet would choose to grade that heavily now. I love all Jeunet's films and own them on Blu-ray!

Sounds like you are a big fan of Jeunet. I thought he deliberately color graded the footage to make Paris look more rustic and old ? 😂

@@go-outonalim absolutely! I agree that's the look he was after, I just think he could have backed off just a smidge. It's a personal choice. I shoot 4k video just for fun, using FLog and grading the footage in post. I have some grading tools (LUTs) that help achieve that old and rustic look.
      Cheers!
