    I love that you don't just teach the technic of how to paint but more so the mindset we can have to not get so frustrated and down about ourselves and our artwork. You teach us what art is truly about, and how to not get caught up in the lies we believe about ourselves and art. We are more that just the paint we put on paper. I think that's what makes you so special, the artist you deep down is so beautiful and wise, and it just so happens to shine brightly through your artwork.
    *I hope that made sense the way I put it, but if it didn't please just know that you are a very very wonderful person, and you are very much appreciated and loved by everyone who watches and learns from you. So thank you for being you.* 😊💜

    I can tell you’re using Arches because it can handle all the water 💦. My cheap Canson would warp like a bad time machine.
    If your using cheap paper, don’t be discouraged, just use less water and you’ll need to move the paint more as it will not diffuse as nicely!! You can do it, and if it turns out bad, it’s possibly just your paper 👍🤷‍♀️

    Hi there! Although I loved watching you create your moon..your COMMENTARY was invaluable! What stood out to me wash your thoughts on how we should all sit down to ENJOY and play with creating. Few of us out here are overly gifted artists..and we can look at our work and begin to feel bad about ourselves. Your reminder that we do this to put out creative and kind vibes into the world is a beautiful thing! Focusing on the NOW and recognizing that NOW is all we really "have" spurred me to begin working with watercolor..after all it signifies "letting go" and "movement" ... I've been painting with watercolor for 2 months now..and I wouldn't say anything that I've created is 'frame-worthy' or particular good but I am reminded to ask myself ..."Did you enjoy the process Joanna?". Thank you for your encouragement, thoughts, and peaceful mantras! We are all to remember that it's not about becoming DaVinci but becoming at PEACE.
    Please post again soon!

    I don't know which I love most the painting or your words...well yes I do know it is your words that are so true. I honestly just love watercolors. I have no real idea of what I am doing. I just plop color on the paper... then like you said just love to see the brush touch the paper and watch the color move. I just play with colors, knowing I am not a talented painter... but that I still can be an artist because I love the way I feel. I decided a few years ago just because I don't know techniques whether paint, writting, photography or clay. I create something, and only if I see it. I am an artist, for so long I thought you had to be recognized as one,by others. Thanks as always!!!!🌚🎨💦💡🖌🗒👩‍🎨

    I've been doing a lot of watercolouring the last few weeks and I do it because I want to learn about it and get better. I was afraid to start painting something, when I got new paints, because they were kind of expensive and I didn't want to waste them on a painting that might not turn out as I had hoped, but in the end I just started painting something and while the result surely wasn't the best: I did learn a lot in the process. And that's the most important thing to me. And yes... I'll be staying home until the kindergartens are allowed to open again... so, lots of time to practice! xD Stay healthy!

    Thank you, I really really needed this. And actually I wonder if anyone could give me some advice or just reply...
    I'm struggling with perfectionism a lot, as well as fear of failure and ultimately being scared to draw. I keep dwelling on the past when I drew every single day, made finished pieces, had cool ideas and posted my stuff online. Now, I've lost touch with art and my creativity because of my 4 year degree in physics (asian parents, what can i say...). I still doodle every day, but I'm not making artwork that is "complete/finished" that I can post online. I'm also unable to convey my ideas or emotions on paper like how I used to. This makes me really really sad... I know I do have talent and I love art, but I feel my creativity is slipping away. I'm in my last year and I want to chase my dreams of making a living with art. But I have to first be able to draw again... My mind is blank and I only draw the same things over and over again, I can't create finished pieces and I have no cool ideas. I feel so hopeless. Sorry, I just wanted to let this out. Mako, I really love your videos ;w;

    • @Makoccino
      @Makoccino  Před 4 lety +15

      I think it's all about what you define as failure. If you don't like an artpiece you can either decide to look at it in a more positive and productive way or negative way that doesn't bring you anywhere! Every artpiece you create you learn something new. Even if you don't like something about it, you can think about what exactly that is you don't like and improve on that the next time you try. You can never find it out if you don't create a ton of art that doesn't look great. No one produces artpieces in one go, it takes time and effort to develop the idea you had in your head and translate it onto the paper! As I said in the video, don't be so hard on yourself! Remind yourself why you want to create art in the first place and get into a routine of creating! Maybe you can schedule in time into your day, every day to just doodle, paint, drawl, to create momentum. If you haven't painted in a while, you just need to get back into it by slowly warming up your creativity again!

      @@Makoccino i love this video and I relate so much to this comment on being afraid to start again....I ache to, but I overwhelm myself with how I will "mess it up"...so I end up not starting....but this video and this comment here you gave are just perfect. It's hard sometimes to remember it doesn't have to be perfect on the first go and I feel like I'm wasting paper(even my cheap paper) and paint i can't afford to waste....but as you said, I guess I need to remember that good or "bad" ,it's all relative and can all be something to learn from if I have the right attitude! Exactly what I needed! I'm nervous, but also excited, to try things again :) thank you so much for all you do!! You probably can't fully know how much it means to all of us :)🥰

      @@Makoccino me again ☺ so, I was super inspired to just push through my fear and get some paint out...I ended up doing an acrylic pour and then, because of this video, I got out my watercolor paper and taped down full sheets (I can only afford cheaper canson paper) and used a glass to make 8 small circles so that I can sort of just get comfortable on the couch (with rods in my back, replaced knees, ra and more, comfort or pain is a major factor for what I can do) and have several different little circles i can play in trying different things...just to try it out. How dumb is it that just drawing out, and softly erasing to make them light and imperfect, the circles in pencil is just so satisfying. :)☺😊 i love pencils too. Anyway...just had to tell you that this video helped me so much today! Thank you!!!

    As you said, the moon goes into different stages. Also I didn't realize you were painting for an hour until you mentioned it. It's hard to tell from the video but I find it a helpful information to know since I expected results quite in the early stages.

    Last night I was using my cotton watercolour paper (a tiny sketchbook came free with my Paul Ruben paints) and it just clicked. The paint did what I wanted and the effects looked so much cleaner. I was just doing a skyline view from my window with just sequential lines for trees, but it was so good. It was hot press but I still loved using it.
