  • We were on Deck 10 of the Pacific Encounter and we think we had one of the best balconies on the ship. But, which is the best balcony and is it right for you?
    We had a fantastic view of balconies on other decks from our deck and in this video we do a review of the Pacific Encounter balconies to help you decide which balcony is best for you.
    As the Pacific Adventure, is almost identical to the Pacific Encounter this video should also apply there. We haven't been on the Adventure yet so can't say this with absolute certainty.

    We were on deck 9 and loved it as we weren't overlooking anyone like the above decks and we had direct view straight down to the of the water below where we saw lots of little flying fish and a sting ray and some other strange orange looking creatures as the ship was travelling along. Even though we had balconies above us it didn't bother us as we were always facing the water so didn't even think about it much. Having the footstools was also a great bonus. They are only small on deck 9 only big enough for 2 people at a time really.

    We're booked on deck 11, I think that will suit admirably. I have no intentions of entertaining or sunbathing, but sometimes it's nice to just get out and smell the roses (or ocean, as the case may be).

      @robandalicruisetravel  Před rokem

      Hi Robyn. We don't really use the balcony much either and we certainly wouldn't be complaining if we got a smaller one but it was a bonus to be able to sit with our feet up with our morning coffee or pre-dinner cocktails. Given the choice we would probably go for deck 10 again because of the balcony but probably wouldn't be paying extra for it.

      Thanks for the support and comment. We got really lucky with our cabin as we booked a guaranteed balcony so could have got anything. We had a balcony similar to the Deck 11 one on the Coral Princess and, although it was small it served our purpose for that cruise. The bigger one is definitely nicer though.

      Hi Tanisha and Robert. Lovely to meet you, so to speak. I got a copyright strike on the video I mentioned in Tony and Rachel's livestream earlier today so I took the opportunity to go through it and trim it down a bit. Managed to get it down to 26 mins which I am happy with. When it goes over 30 mins I get a little nervous that it is too long. We have loads more footage from the Encounter to get out before the Luminosa cruise in 4 weeks and then we will need to get that out before our New Year's cruise on the Royal Caribbean Quantum of the Seas, which looks like a fabulous ship. Then we're going all 'la di da' for Valentine's on the Queen Elizabeth. Sometimes I wonder how we have time to work with all the editing. Anyway, no doubt we'll chat again. I subscribed to your channel by the way. Take Care.

    I love watching you videos, finding them very helpful. We only live about 20mins apart, hopefully we will bump into you on a cruise one day.
    Can you do a video on how you chose a cruise or how you go about getting good deals/sales. Is there any tips or hacks on booking. Do you do all the research yourself or do you get a travel agents to do it for you. I’ve always planned and booked our cruises/holidays, just wondering if I should change my way of booking as there is so many choices these days.
    Also a video on the different theme nights, when I last cruised in 2015 everyone got involved. Is it still a big thing on cruise ships.

    • @robandalicruisetravel
      @robandalicruisetravel  Před rokem

      Hi Maree. Thanks for the suggestion and I think we can manage to do this. We have been looking at doing some more tips and info videos from home as we can't cruise all the time and are in the process of making a 'studio' at the moment to start these in the New Year.
      Theme nights seem to be different on different ships. On P&O we found there are still a lot of people joining in but not so much on Carnival. It might be because P&O make more of a deal of it that Carnival where it really is just for a 45 min deck party. We are about to go on Royal Caribbean and we believe there may be a couple of theme nights on there but they do not release details pre-cruise so I can't imagine there will be a lot of uptake. Will let you know.

    • @robandalicruisetravel
      @robandalicruisetravel  Před rokem +1

      Hi Frankie and thanks for watching. It depends on what you want to use your balcony for to be honest. We like them for the amount of light you get in the cabin and the ability to get some fresh air. The only time we really use it is in the late afternoon when a bit of sun on the balcony doesn't matter. It is very rare that people actually stand on their balcony looking at people below so I wouldn't get too concerned about that. To be honest we think you will enjoy having the mini-suite more than having a bigger Deck 10 balcony. Would love to hear your thoughts on that though when you get back please and have a fantastic cruise. When do you go by the way?

    • @frankie3213

      Thanks@@robandalicruisetravel- this is our first mini-suite and first time on P&O, your comments made me feel a bit better. We are doing the Comedy Cruise over the ANZAC weekend in April, so just a short trip. We have had balcony cabins before and do like to stand outside to get some fresh air, but we don't really sit on the balcony much. I have seen some of the river boats that have french balconies or panorama balconies - which keep the space inside but still have the light and fresh air - I think these would be ideal on a cruise ship.

    • @robandalicruisetravel
      @robandalicruisetravel  Před rokem

      Hi Frankie. We don't really sit outside that much either but it's more because we are too busy doing other things than not wanting too. We love to have a look over the balcony in the morning when we get into a new port or take in the sunset at night. Never been on a Comedy cruise. Please let us know what you think as we may do one. The short cruises are so much more convenient to fit in with work.

      Hi Debbie. If it's any consolation, although we had a bigger balcony on deck 10, when we did use it we stayed under the covered bit mainly and never really looked over. Couldn't tell you what the people were like below us if you asked us. We just went to the edge to get the views occasionally. As for the shade, it's only not shady when the sun is on that side, which is only half of the day. See, look on the bright side. It's a balcony with fresh air and light. We hope you have a fantastic cruise anyway.
