Thank you brother needed this, because I’m always worried what people think ✊🤘🏻
I’ve been blind for 10 years, and just started growing my beard again last fall. I always loved facial hair and love to embrace being a man, it’s frustrating from time to time, because I can’t see myself in the mirror, and just using my hands for eyes. However , I feel I am too critical and self-conscious way too much lol
I really appreciate your advice, and this channel, makes the beard experience more enjoyable. Much respect brother.

This channel has been a huge help to me. I used to always trim. The moment I had fly aways or anything like that id trim it off and then wonder why my beard wasn't growing lol. I take very good care of it now and use the Aberlite to straighten and deal with stray hairs. Really all you need is a bit of patience and self-confidence along with a beard care routine and youll see the positive results.

In my humble opinion, what have we seen about other beards, either in real or ficticious people (photos, movies, series, our bearded neighbor), can grealty influence our own perception of what an "ideal" beard should be. Not only we are our worst critics, but we add that awful plus of "idealness": beards meticulously shaped like in stone or marble sculptures, standing proud, unmoving, hieratic, geometric... _perfect._ A powerful illusion.
Guess that's a downside when it comes to our gregarious, imaginative species.
And at the same time, one of our best attributes that made civilization possible... and even beard styles!
Thanks as usual and stay bearded!

I'd been struggling for about six months, trying to decide if I should trim or not. I never really had a goal length, but had decided to grow long because you never know what you like until you try it...
I enjoyed the journey, but reached a point where my obsessive critique was out weighing the fun.
I sent in to Beard Advice Live and pretty much confirmed what I was thinking. I ended up taking about half the length off from over a foot down to just over six inches...
But all the things I learned letting it grow, have made my beard better than when I was at this length the last time, and I couldn't be happier with the change, but I also took about six months to make that change, so I was prepared...
I really feel like this is MY beard now...

Another great video breaking down the fact that we are our own worst critics. The longer I’ve been on this planet the more I realize this to be true with not only beards but everything especially self image. The old saying “the grass is always greener on the other side” is soooo true and we must acknowledge that and try to move past it to be the best self we can be
For one, I never mention my faults when someone complements me (for me I have a TON! Lol) I see a lot of people doing this whenever they get any complement, “thank you but… I wish my beard did this… or, yeah but see this part isn’t right…”; etc and so on. No more “yeah buts” in my vocabulary
Confidence is 100% key! We have beards! And we rock them the healthiest way possible. Just like Dan says, just because you notice it, doesn’t mean someone ells does. ROCK WHAT YOU GOT YO! Great video Dan!! 💯💯💯👊🤘

I am the most critical of my beard to the point I ramp up my anxiety on whether to trim, use more oil, balm, butter, hairdryer or whatever. One thing I think needs to be added is to check your own anxiety and stress.
Remember the reason for growing a beard. Aside from vanity... its your beard. Your face and at the end of the day your beard isn't for anyone else, it's for you and you alone. So in the brilliant words of one of my favorite comedian... FTP.... FUCK THEM PUTOS!

lol.... I am always "critical". Don't care what folks think/say. Just my pride. I let you know before that my beard was 5 inch. Love it. But had left-over aspects of using a #10 guide... causing a "layering" look. Ugh. So I trimmed a 1/2 off the entire outside edge. WOW.... that helped a lot. Will let it go till Sept. then do it again... then repeat. That should be the end of the layering. Then I'll reach for 6 inch+. Guides are great for shorter beards... Did great at #4 guide. But the #10 really made a "fuzzy" look. Just updating and sayin..... and checking in to say HI, Dan!
    Love your encouragement!

If they are watching this, well, hopefully they realize they found it! I have a recent story I will share. So, this past Friday I had to go to a graduation, I was rushed big time and spent nearly no time styling my beard. Now, I was not stressed about it but knew without a doubt it was not even close to what it could be. Anyway, I had three people at that graduation comment in a positive way on my beard. I didn't explain to them how good it could look. 😂🤣 I just took the compliments, said thank you and moved on.

Ok I have to give my two cents on this one. I have been growing a beard for about five years now, here’s my story. I would grow my beard and as soon as the flyaways would show I would trim them this would happen about two three times a week. My beard would look terrible, shave it off and start over I would stress over trying to have the perfect beard that I would keep messing it up, seven months ago I started over again and I swore to myself that I wouldn’t touch it other than trim the hair around my lip, for about four months my beard looked terrible after a few months later my beard looks great!

As humans we are wired to see the negative, but this can be changed with practice. Look for the positive in yourself and others. See the good in yourself and others. Decide and focus on what is actually important. Learn how to let go (or not ruminate so much) on the things you can't control. Focus your time on the things you can control (within healthy limits). Easier said than done, but with practice, we can all change our mindset and be happier with ourselves, others, and the world because of it. Jim Parry
