For anyone confused, it’s the “worker’s rights” line which was off script by Page and was basically fueling the drama regarding Punk being behind Colt Cabana getting moved to ROH (which is untrue).

I was initially confused and thought that this was Hangman's last ditch attempt to actually create an interesting angle in this feud. I remember it being presented as a pretty bland Babyface v babyface thing in the run up to this.

This seems like a pretty benign wrestling promo to me. I remember reading it as Page maybe subtly calling Punk fake, but it didn't feel any different than what Eddie Kingston had said months earlier and that felt way more personal considering their history. I'm a little surprised and disappointed if this is the thing that set Punk off.

When I first seen this promo I knew there was some sort of heat especially when Hangman said "he will be defending All Elite Wrestling from you!" Knowing Punk just came in the company. I just didn't think it would lead to all this today.

Haven't been able to catch every episode of AEW, but I do remember catching this episode. I didn't really think anything of it. Just seems like a typical "you're an outsider Punk, this is my home, I'm not letting you take this AEW title." On the surface nothing too unique about it, but a good promo for their story in my opinion. That said, I don't know the full circumstances behind the scenes but maybe this promo combined with some REAL tension ended up stirring the pot with Punk. That's my two cents. No one knows the full details of what happened except for the people there, so until we there's something more confirmable (if that ever comes) all we can do is speculate the details.
I think I might start watching AEW.. if these two guys “really” hate each other. The matches and feud will be 10x better
@@Derod2012 Well, I don't think CM Punk is going to be one for at least a little while. I did miss All Our, but in hindsight, it seems I haven't missed much. Probably will just watch this week's set of shows as kind of a fresh start and take it from there. Also, I'm supposed to be seeing Dynamite live for the first time in Albany so there's that too.

@@Derod2012 Whatever ends up happening, I hope it's change for the better. As far as I can tell, no one is innocent here. Not Punk and Steel, not Omea and Bucks, probably even Adam Page is a little to blame. I'm not expecting anyone to kiss and make up, but I do hope lessons are learned here. It's great WWE is starting to turn things around, that said, I also don't want to see AEW fall. It'd just be one less place wrestlers can go to.

The Colt cobana subject is very real to punk and everyone in the locker room should know that punk was helping CC after they were both (CC and cm punk) sued by wwe. Punk did not have to do that. He CHOSE to help his friend. The lawsuit changed their friendship and they fell out of favor with each other. My question is, is hangman Adam page paying CCs bills now like punk did? If not he should have no right to bring that very personal issue up in public. I don't like scripted promos but the boys should know what lines are crossable. Wrestlers wives and children are never used in promos without explicit consent. Very real issues should be treated the same

Punk calling out Jeff for his very real life drug abuse issues and Jericho getting into Punk's alcoholic father - I don't think it's too out of line at all

A great example of a worked shoot promo (not punks pipebomb) is the Paul Heymans "you stole my life" promo to Vince McMahon during the invasion angle. One year later, Adam Page's career is rightly in the gutter and CM Punk aside from the injury is the most talked about guy in wrestling. There's a difference between a shoot promo like Pillman did in ECW where everyone kind of knew what was going to happen and nobody was burying anyone and this unprofessional garbage. AEW fans and wrestlers are in a bubble. If Page thought he wouldn't have been fired on the spot for doing that in WWE, he was dreaming. I bought that AEW was sports based wrestling but it's basically WCW on fast forward with a tiny fraction of the talent. I wasn't a CM Punk fan because I hadn't followed wrestling much since 2002 and still don't, but I'm becoming one now because he's the only one in that company who understood business and now he can't put over the decent people left in AEW because he knows they'll be punished for it. Wrestling is a business, not cosplay. I hated WWE for years, but at least now I respect that Paul Levesque is running a business, not a charity for indy wrestlers.

You said it perfectly! Punk was entertaining on the Mic in 2011 but never better than a mid-card wrestler. He has this disorder where he thinks of himself as a god, above the rules and beyond criticism or ridicule but anyone could have picked up a mic in 2011 and said things considered "things you aren't supposed to say" and made a star of that moment. Punk is an average mid-card, forgettable Wrestler and less than average athlete and his ego thinks he is in a league WAY beyond what he really is. They will, however, drop a lawsuit if said shared account has a sum of money that will absolutely derail their lawsuit in court.

Punk denies the accusation and kept getting asked about it by journalists and all that since the drama had spread (regardless if it was the bucks or not).
