  • We sometimes get the impression that Pentecost was “Opening Day” for the Holy Spirit. There he’d been, waiting in heaven for millennia, biting at the bit for his splashy entrance onto the world’s stage in the mid-1st century AD. He was the Johnny-come-lately member of the Holy Trinity. The Old Testament demonstrates just how fundamentally flawed this view of the Spirit is. Multiple OT texts describe the Holy Spirit active in creation, equipping the saints, empowering warriors, teaching, and intimately tied to the work of the Messiah. In this video, Chad Bird explores the ancient resumé of the Spirit to better understand how the Spirit makes his grand appearance already in verse 2 of the Bible-and never leaves.
