Awesome stuff. I was hoping to see some of his rocket throws to first base. He will always be one of my all time favorite Cubs.
We loved him and the other 80's Cubs! What an arm and a great sense of humor! Long live the Shawon O' Meter!!!!!!!
Ye old Shawon O Meter! Good memories
I am happy to see a Shawon-O-Meter sign!
I remember Dunston. He was a stud at shortstop. He had a cannon of an arm as routine throws to 1st base had so much zip on them.
The short stop I grew up watching, great to see it, GO CUBS!
Nobody hustled more than Shawon Dunston.. He ran out every single ground ball as hard as he could..
Yup, he was a hitting machine but the Cubs management way of doing business didn't think he was worth it. That said he should've gotten his world series ring with the Cubs
Dont know whats better the highlights or hearing Harrys voice!!!!!! go cubs
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
4:15, there it is, the Shawon-O-Meter!!
Great memories here. I loved that we got a glimpse of the Shawon-O-Meter too.
My first baseball hero. He was awesome
Loved that guy!
*SHAWON-O-METER*
What a stud
missed those days a lots. 😢
Those were the days ❤..Shawn & Harry .. dont know if I should cry or smile .. most likely I was at most of those games
I feel like this list is incomplete without at least one routine groundout where Shawon scooped the ball off the grass and took two or three steps toward first before launching a 95 mph rocket that damned near took Leon Durham or Mark Grace’s head off. We all mimicked that play growing up and our first baseman looked at each of us like “Dude, chill! WTF? Do I look like I have catcher’s gear on? I don’t even have an actual first baseman’s mitt; we’re playing pepper ball in the school yard.”
😢 I remember nothing but good times with this guy. Rocket arm with Hustling body. He played All Out.
I don't know why they didn't show more of his defense? When you think of Shawon Dunston, you don't think of HR's, you think of his cannon arm.
W shawon dunston
That team with Dunston, Dawson, Grace, Sandberg was epic times. Only if we had better pitching then.
That's what I'm saying ,when we had the pitching they would trade them away. Mitch Williams,Lee smith,Greg maddux, mike belecki, etc
Dunston was great! Love hearing Harry Caray, Steve Stone, and Thom Brennaman making the calls. Takes me back to my childhood.
I'm not sure why this video isn't 4 minutes of Dunston fielding routine balls at short and then throwing them approximately 120 mph to Mark Grace at 1st.
Can’t forget the iconic “Shawon-O-Meter” back in ‘89. Good guy and so much fun to watch him play!
Sharon Pannozzo? 😆

Good days
I remember his first game. Lightning on the field. Heart of gold.
A rocket for a arm favorite player
The Rifleman! I love me some Shawon Dunston!❤️💙
Always loved Dunston, we had good teams I can't still believe we never won a world series at those times , normally it was pitching problems
Just saw Dunston Jr. play live in a minor League game. ⚾️ he plays for Lancaster Stormers.
Guy should have been a first ballot hall of famer
he was a good player
The first thing i always think of when i hear Shawon Dunston was the game he tied the MLB record by hitting 3 triples. If i remember right Luis Salazar was on first for all 3 triples and on the third one either Harry Caray or Steve Stone said they felt sorry for Salazar because he'd never had to run so much in his life. 😂
Cannon arm for sure, but a little wild with the swing. Early Javier Baez at the plate reminded me of Dunston in that regard.
Parts of his game left a lot to be desired, but the good was REALLY good.
Remember the Shawn O Meter?!!
1:30 he was safe.
Dunston was a mess as first round draft choice early 80s. Big arm, but also big head case. Not worthy of any HOF.
You must be a hoot at cocktail parties.
