Nuclear power is very clean and would solve Nigeria's energy troubles

The most important part is to know how to do it & maintain it for ourselves. This would solve the main energy problem of Africa in whole.

With the current crop of nigerian leaders, coupled with their penchant for mismanagement, this is just studio talk. Hard to see it making the light

The IAEA is welcome to give their opinion, but we don't have to get them to teach us or show us how to run it. Africa has it's own Energy commission. It would be much cheaper if we learn how to design, build and maintain it ourselves in the long run. Even our university students can run this, if they are provided adequate support.

Can nuclear waste really be contained safely without it leaking into the environment?
Either for energy or not Nigeria must have nuclear technology and produce a lot of nuclear weapons in the future at least 50 years from now. We just have more nuclear weapons than the most powerful nuclear power in Europe as a deterrent to protect ourselves and our continent so no invaders build military bases anywhere in West Africa forever.
This is what we want as intelligent citizens of the federal republic of Nigeria. Which means we only want governments that can grant us this so we can do it with perfection by playing our utmost priorities on the protection of our environment and putting health and safety first before anything. We need competent and professional Nigerian in charge of our nuclear race and energy work in it as patriots and not as the usual corrupt politicians and their party loyalists.
To prevent cancer from spreading in n Africa is to must stop importing drugs and food from the West. Even baby food. We have no food security and these folks don’t care if they give our babies diabetes in nestle food products because our governments are too stupid to verify what comes into our continent if it’s safe for consumption for our indigenous life anyway. The nestle products sold as m Africa for example will never be sold in Switzerland. These are the issues we must solve by placing our youths at the very centre of our ambition and goals. They will live longer and see it through in one generation alone. The next one will inherit a perfect system. It can be done and it must be done. This is the pathway to a better future for us. If we ever want to lead Africa someday we must be its greatest economy and its most powerful nation militarily. This is the way.

The only thing that get me nervous here is our nonchalant attitude toward infrastructure....hence nuclear waste and disposal.
With corruption in Nigeria and her leadership style scares me

We should be going for renewable energy, not nuclear energy. Or whichever one is easier to get right now… since we might not really have a choice in the matter anyway.
But yeah, renewable energy should be the ultimate goal for now. Maybe we could upgrade later. (Well, not ultimate. But just a main goal)
