As a teenager at the time, I still remember how all the Ray Of Light promo tour and award shows perfomances impressed me: I was so lucky to attend the 1998 EMA in Milan, Italy, where she sang The Power Of Good-Bye live: my first M live experience! But I think that Nothing Really Matters @ the 1999 Grammys is still the peak of that era! Here at the VMA, beyond the Kali-Goddess mood in the intro, she's also having fun on stage with Lenny Kravitz (lead guitar): he also enjoyed her on the Confessions tour in Paris, playing the same song!
I very much prefer the original vocals; her voice was shaky then but so what. It was a live performance and she was dancing/moving all over the place. It's understood that her vocal will be compromised. This version doesn't sound like Madonna; more like Cher's "Believe."
Good performance, the filters weren´t necessary it was the moment when the singers started to use the voice filters to cause an effect as Cher did the same year. Here wasn`t necessary, she was amazing.
She didn't need the vocal enhancer here. I saw the video of the rehearsals and it was without the vocal corrector and she actually sounded great. The decoder ruins it.
well, you obviously didn't watch the original performance, as it was hands down the worst vocal performance of her career, so I myself fixed the vocals (as much as possible), yes she sounded much better on the rehearsals, but they are out in the public for about a week, so I couldn't use those instead .

Original untouched vocals are better. Madonna has a beautiful voice raw and passionate is better.
