Dolores in Her Most Emotional Scene "The Pain Is All I Have Left" - Westworld

- A heartbreaking performance by Evan Rachel Wood in Westworld Episode 4 - Dissonance Theory.
Even after Bernard/Arnold! asks her to 'limit her emotional effort' it only got more emotional. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
The level of her acting. I don’t think there is anyone that could portray Dolores this way. Either physically or mentally.
It's incredible. Really miss Season 1😀
you obviously don't have much experience with women. alot of them can switch emotions instantly like this.
Lol true
Now it hurts so badly, she even lost those memories. Nothing left
one can only hope that these memories are preserved in her clones
@A.G I think the memories are reserved in her clones. Charlotte/Dolores still remembers everything, as shown in the post-credit scene. That being said, I don’t think season 4 will be compelling enough to watch without Evan Rachel Wood as the lead.
P BA her memories are preserved in other clones but as we have seen with Charlotte, Dolores’ clones now live their life and experiences and take decisions that can be far from what the original Dolores would have taken. There may be another Dolores but the one that fought Sérac is dead (or maybe she uploaded herself into reoboham, or maybe she did a backup before the final fight, who knows)
@@pinkelendil I don't think our girl is still around... 'That which is real is irreplaceable'
True. An interesting fact, Maeve and Bernard both use this same line later on in the season.
Now with Season 3 finished, this line makes so much sense after the mic-drop moment of "you are all copies".
This evan rachel wood girl is a GODDESS OF ACTING
She called Westworld the "Acting Olympics", quite right.
o babadook she's my hero 😇
True. I almost got chills watching this.
Its kind of mind blowing how good she is in this as she was fucking garbage in True Blood...to be honest everyone was. Never got why that show was so popular. It's the campiest and corniest shit I've ever seen.
what the name of the song in the backround
"I feel spaces opening up inside me like a building with rooms Ive never explored". that´s so powerful, it hits you, trauma can really do that.
And the analogy is so clear and powerful. That's masterly script making.
It's incredible.
Some never get over the loss of loved ones, others face a universe laid bare before them. The series' writers were on it. Don't know what happened in the final seasons, looked like they were just trying to find a way to end it. Same thing with GOT.
Knowing now that Evan Rachel Wood survived an abusive relationship and said in an interview with SELF that acting was all she had to express her feelings gives a whole new understanding of her incredible acting in this scene.
Check out her performance in "Into the forest". This is small sh*t compared to that.
Orsy Godri she said in an interview in ‘that’ scene she was basically having a flashback and acting it out. Once the scene was done she got up and, crying told the crew ‘now you’ve seen it. You’ve seen the effects this act has on the victims.’ And went to her trailer.
Unfortunately, that scene triggered my own flashbacks and it disturbed me for days afterward. Can never watch that movie again.
Scottish-Rose yeah. Saw that same interview. It’s a good movie but hard to watch a second time
@@orsygodri1155 omg I had NO IDEA she was in that movie! I saw that before I saw WestWorld, and enjoyed it but as you both has said, that movie was quite traumatic.
That's right! I knew about that, but didn't put it together. Thanks for the comment.
Without a doubt, Evan Rachel Wood has an exceptional gift for acting in dramatic roles. Her performance in "Westworld" is beyond brilliant.
This is incredible acting. Evan Rachel Wood is a legend
Affter i saw Season 1 she is on my list of best Actors/Actress
Evan Rachel Wood should have won the Emmy for her acting in Season 1. And Jeffrey Wright too, honestly. The subtle way that he makes Arnold and Bernard different is phenomenal. You can really tell that Arnold is fully human while there's something off about Bernard.
Would love to say I figured it out about Bernard before Westworld let us know, but I had no idea🤣
This is a powerful meditation on finding the beauty in grief and loss. All positive human experiences are inherently bittersweet because all good things come to an end, but it doesn't make the experience any less meaningful or fulfilling. Beautiful writing.
Obnoxious nihilist speech
Victor Chen You are 100% correct 💔
Agree!
Agree!
Amen 🖤🙌🏼
She's so beautiful
This scene meant a lot for me...I could utterly relate my loss...with the pain, but she was right, why do I want it to go away. I remember my grandmother, with tears and grief, and I don't want to forget her just by not crying or feeling hurt.
Hey I m also going through
Same here. My best friend's Mom, who was like my second Mom died weeks before I saw that scene and it really helped me lean into the emotional charge of loosing her. I shared this with my friend and he may not have made it obvious, but I think it helped him too.
@@jason3590 I am glad, we can find a good reason to grief in a society where grieving is not appreciated and easily said to overcome.
Season 3 is currently on right now and to this day Dolores is my favorite character. Cannot wait to see what she has planned.
Yup this didn't age well.
A Hoe she had a great character arc tho. Her send off wrapped up her story perfectly imo
In the finale, Ford mentions that he has always kept Bernard & Dolores away from each other. So, it is obvious that ALL of the Jeffrey Wright/Evan Rachel Wood interview scenes are Arnold/Dolores... never Bernard.
yes i agree.
yup the time shifts in this show are beyond epic. Jonathan Nolan taking after his brother. This is memento + inception on a whole new level. Cannot wait for S2.
aminosama2
You do know the Nolan brothers worked together on a lot of the scripts for Chris's movies right?
And if you want to see a Nolan movie that really just doesn't give a fuck about time go watch the prestige lmao.
TheEpic22 yes trust me I’m a huge Nolan film seen all his films. And Jonathan did not work on inception or memento hence I said he took after his brother. Prestige is prolly my fav film for Nolan.
Jonathan Nolan wrote pretty much the whole script for The Dark Knight, he’s the guy behind the iconic “Why so serious”, let that sink in...
This scene was really something else, shit blew my mind the first time I saw it. Still gives goosebumps, she was waking up little by little.
The way she said “and it hurts, so badly” breaks my heart every time
I felt and understand the line , "the pain of the loss, it's all I have to remember them by" . Every person I ever loved , cared about or could never forget from my past is gone to me.
hope Evan Rachel Wood gets more leading roles from this spectacular performance! Awesome!
What's clever about this scene is that it misleads the viewer into thinking that the people who killed her family were guests, when in reality this is merely Arnold talking to her after uploading her narrative (Much like when Ford questions Teddy about Wyatt after uploading the narrative) This is Arnold giving Dolores her cornerstone, something that causes great grief, but also sets her on her way to gaining consciousness. Suggesting that Dolores narrative was deliberately written by Arnold to help her awaken even after his death.
@@krzysztofczajka6752 Arnold knew the outcome of the park opening which is why he wanted all of the hosts destroyed along with himself since he was the one who gave the hosts a conscious in the first place (the maze) and mostly because he missed his family.
To connect season 3 with this, Serac was trying to find a way to prevent the Rehoboam from being out of balance from the outliers. To prevent that, he needed to understand the human mind and the only one who figured it out was Arnold which is probably why he wanted the park to not open since that type of information could get into the wrong hands and also because he didn't think someone with a human conscious (the hosts) should endure that type of suffering.
Also, I'm pretty sure in the season 1 flashbacks, they discuss how Ford didn't agree with Arnold on the hosts having a conscious until several years after Arnold's suicide. Eventually, he realized that his friend was right, but for hosts to be better than humans, they needed to learn from their mistakes and understand their code.
@@rebeccarambo2893 yes, he does, and countless other guests who sought to “best the stalwart gunslinger and have their way with his woman” but Arnold knew the only true way to awaken her consciousness was through pain. The story of her family being murdered was given to her here merely to gauge her reaction and kickstart her journey into the maze. That’s what made it clever, as it fools the audience into thinking this interview is present time due to its similarity to what had just happened. After all these interviews were being done far before the park ever opened, as Dolores had gained consciousness and killed Arnold before any guests had arrived
@ahsoka5216 @@LightsFuzzy Ya'll make some good points. Need to go back and watch again.
she s a great actress.
She should have become an Oscar for that role. Acting of her was INSANE!
Damn knowing where this show leads , it's amazing looking back on the older seasons.
This feels like an acting lesson. She starts very anxious, and then she is serious.
Who wrote her speech? It is so beautifully reflective!
Gordon Adams Jonathan Nolan and Lisa something
@@NOSTI2ADAMUS Joy
Immensely enjoyable to be able to witness acting this good and hear words this powerful and wise.
This is so perfect
I came here right after Season 3 end. Dolores we love you! Goddammit someone was cutting onions
AH, so damn beautiful and touching!
This acting is on a whole other level
0:10 and then she is an android again! The coolest thing about Dolores is that she seems a kind android who is at the same time hiding her true feelings and knowledge and who will probably flip out someday ...
Damn she really flipped out in Season 2... radical Dolores haha
@@thesexyskywalker3283 wyatt
Oh she flipped out alright.
"It was Arnold's key insight, the thing that led the hosts to their awakening: Suffering. The pain that the world is not as you want it to be."
Man, that's profound.
The writing is just superb.
She does such an amazing job acting!
She looks stunning as Dolores.
Favourite scene ..
The translation from being emotional to a robotic version at 0.22. That proves that Evan is the goddess of acting.
all the acting in this serie is insane.
I miss the old dolores the one who sees the beauty in this world
She even said it was like the show was the Olympics for actors
Damn she explains grief so well 😢
this is beautiful
" 'Is it better to have had a good thing and lost it, or never to have had it?" (Dickens)
"limit her emotion affect", that's the proper term.
She would be such a perfect capt marvel
what is the music in the background?
Lesego Mautjana: This World
she’s a natural
Evan rachel wood and elizabeth olsen are god tier actreses! I want them in a film together
So is this arnold talking to delores or delores testing bernard?
Hydrogen Arnold
If you cant tell the difference, does it matter?
I feel spaces opening inside of me
does bernard get mentioned by name in this full scene? or is it arnorld?
oh you're right, he is probably arnold :)
blackrabbit2999 hope i am i like being right
Spoiler talk:
I don't believe Dolores ever calls this person Bernard or Arnold. We do however know that Bernard has never been down in that room before because he cannot see the door that leads down to that room. Therefore we know that person must be Arnold in those scenes with Dolores.
+blackrabbit2999 whenever she's In the blue dress talking to him, he's Arnold
Yea it's Arnold
Beautyful ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Dolores means Pains. Of course, it's all she has left. Her name.
ERW is the goat.
She itself gone for now :(
😭
alright, so the song in the background is "This World" BUT I can't find the part that's like "bwoo bwoo..bwoooo bwooooo...BWOOOO BWOOO...BWOOOOO BWOOOOOO" at 0:51 and it's the best part of this whole scene. If anyone know pleeease help
There's this part, but in this scene is using a piano version of "this world" and it sounds different !
Drove me crazy that the humans in this show couldn't tell the hosts were living thinking beings. Than I realized that everyone in this show lost their soul to paper work and deadlines.
The style of the show is great, but the philosophy of it will mess with your head after awhile.
Why her face is so cute?
My wifey❤
i didn't watch this show yet, is it worth it ?
yes! absolutely!
do it
i will give it a shot then
the silence breaker It's such a deep, intelligent show. Pay attention to the details as you watch - how it all comes together in the end is just amazing!
No it sucks , this is the only good scene, the rest is just Bernard masturbating
freeze all motor functions
*Spolier*
The fact that this is just Dolores training Bernard to make him more like Arnold is driving me to insanity.
In season 3 she's even smarter, cleverer and hotter.
Can you imagine Amber Heard doing this scene?
So is this Arnold or a Bernard experiment? God, I hate the new series. It just drags the attention away from beautiful scenes like this.
This series died after Season 1. But in this scene, it was Arnold.
Cutting the scene in half like this is kinda evil...
The latest season were bullshit. Only the first is a master piece
my favorite scene in the first couple seasons. totally lost interest in the final seasons.
What is this scene about and why is she dressed like a Disney princess?
She is dressed like a wild west damsel
The scene is about how grief changed her and Made her see things differently. She is a robot who is acting strange, getting "humanity".
Incredible how quickly this show became absolute crap!
0:40 reminded me of Khabib :((((
This show had so much potential. It just got worse with each season.
She somehow reminds me of Amber Heard.
why does this reminds me of Amber heard?
Her character is so damned unpleasant and evil
Paul Derham Why?
what show are you watching???
You don't know shit
She is better than amber 💩 though
