  • If you are tired of your factory camera strap putting a strain on your neck, or those shoulder straps placing all the weight of your camera and lens on your shoulder, check out the Cotton Carrier. I have been using this system for 6 years now and absolutely love it. In my opinion it is the best carrying system for a camera especially if you are into hiking and birding like me. Great Video! Just purchased a Sony len 200-600mm and a Gimbal Head. I wonder if it's a good idea to attach the Cotton Hub under the camera instead of attaching under the Gimbal plate. Don't know, if it's possible to attach Cotton Hub or the CCS Universal Tripod Adapter Plate on my Gimbal plate and once it's remove from the harness, fix-it quickly on my Gimble. Thanks!!

Thanks Andre. It's likely best to attach the hub to the lens/gimbal if possible as this would better support the weight of the camera/lens combination. The Cotton hub should thread into the universal tripod adapter.

So if I were to use this with my 200-500 lens , should it be mounted to lens foot, and would this raise the rig up under a person’s chin?

Great question Steve. Yes, it would be best mounted to the foot with that lens. Depending on the length of the foot and where the threads it should only end up around the center of your chest. On my lens, the using the foot raises it 3" but the shoulder straps on the Cotton Carrier can be adjusted longer to accommodate or this.

@@explorethewildwithpaulroedding So this is where i'm a bit confused. if i mount it to the shoe/foot of the big lens, i'm then not able to attach that lens to a gimbal for bird photography. any suggestion on how to do it? I saw in your video you attached it to the camera itself rather than to the lens foot. Won't this cause stress on the mount since the lens is heavier than the camera?

@@SoumakDutta There is a tripod mount that comes with it where your tripod bracket mounts beside the hub for the Cotton Carrier. This allows you to take it out of the Cotton Carrier and put it on your tripod. Depending on what mount you use for your gimbal it could still work. My lens is not that heavy and since the weight is pulling straight down and not across the mount I'm not too concerned. I've been using this setup for 8 years and no damage to the camera mount or lens mount.
