Creating Isopod Morphs with Derrick Niehaus

Isopod morphs have been a part of the hobby for years now, but Derrick Niehaus has created some fantastic forms. We’ll talk about some of the morphs he has created and/or collaborated on, and talk about pro tips for those of you who would like to work on your own isopod morphs!

Not sure how to respond directly to the person who’s also from Australia and who asked about the isopod hobby here and morphs, but in the hopes they’ll see this comment - there’s a decent isopod hobby community and it’s growing! 🙂 We also have Orange, albino, leucistic, pied, koi and orange koi, milkbacks, lava, and a few other interesting and unique morphs that people in the hobby are working on currently.

This is off topic but I can think of no one else to ask. If I wanted to breed a line of hot pink guppies how would I go about it

In some ways, isopods are similar, in that guppies can mate long before they are mature, and will produce multiple broods from a single mating…so separation of males and females from a very small young age, and then putting just the ones with the traits you want together, is the basic idea
