  • @bpturbo27
    @bpturbo27 Před rokem +2

    Bad oil , fragments , tiny particles got in and blocked the oil pressure ports , obviously if those fragments got in and blocked the intake cam phaser ports it also made its way in the oil pump , oil filter , hydraulic tensioner, v tech solenoids and the list never ends , keep your oil clean with a genuine honda oil filter and from my personal honda tech experience, cam phasers never go bad unless the is a lack of oil pressure due to invasive obstruction in main oil galleries in the engine or bad oil .

  • @jttech44
    @jttech44 Před 9 měsíci

    If you're swapping from conventional oil to full synthetic, the new synthetic oil will get dirty very, very quickly because the synthetic oil has a much greater film strength and a much better detergent package, so it tends to creep under buildup left by conventional oil and free it from metal surfaces.
    The procedure if you're going to swap oil is to do an engine flush, change to synthetic, new filter. Run the car for 1-200 miles, change the oil/filter again with full synthetic, then change the oil/filter again at 3000 miles, at which point you can resume using the manufacturer's recommendations.
    That'll get most of the junk out and into the filter in a hurry. Also worth making sure you're using good filters for this process, as they're what keeps the junk out of sensitive areas of the motor, like hydraulic lifters and VVT assemblies.

    My question is; if you install new one and you mistakenly lock it before installing it in the engine. Can the engine oil pressure on running or driving the car unlock it and make it start working normally. Or you have to unlock it before installing it in the engine ?

      You've probably already learned and gone and done what you wanted/needed to do, but perhaps my comment may help others looking for answers. (not to sound like some sort of know-it-all...)
      5-Point Torx head bolts. I asked my local machine shop to bust the bolts loose, because that bolt head is so uncommon. The only store in town that sells the correct size 5pt Torx socket, sells it in a *specialty set for $30. I replaced those bolts with 5mm allen heads (typical hardware store stuff); M6 x *1.00 x 35 I.I.R.C.
      There's 4 major pieces that make up the VTC gear aside from bolts, and inside it has 4 "Apex Seals" and a spring-loaded plunger.
      You've probably noticed already, but bolts on the face are not square with each other, so the exterior at least can not be put together incorrectly.
