Sound demo / no talk video of the hotly anticipated Nyx V2 Drone Synthesizer from Dreadbox. Listen to many more sound examples and read the full review (in German) here: [link]
The Dreadbox Nyx V2 is larger, has more patch points and now a reverb that can be modulated. A dual filter, complex routing and two bassy and growly oscillators make for fantastic bass sounds and eerie drones in space.
Here’s what’s covered in the video:
0:00 How to program that Nyx Bass
1:18 Drone and LFO Modes
2:15 Reverb Modulation
2:41 Vibrato, PWM & S/H
4:24 Sync and Filtermodes

filter sounds great at high resonance, and the reverb integrates beautifully
Love Dreadbox's stuff!
I'm definitely getting this one to add to the neutron
Thanks a lot for this demo! but ... the nyxxxxx seems to have a very strong noise! is that because of your recording device or the very poor audio quality here on CZcams? how does it sound when you connect your highend headphones directly to the thing from greek?
Best I've heard so far.
Can someone tell me how the dip switches should be set? I think mine is messed up.
again thank u
I’m awaiting a firmware for that damned little stop during the drone mode... have you notice it?
Haha...Seven Nation Army is one of my go to things I play when I try out a new synth.
Is your external keyboard just sending midi information or are you using it as a sound source too?
Just Midi
OMG, that filter! Love it, it is so damn juicy!
I have the V1 and V2; you confirm that the drone mode has a little interruption due it is a loop?
Not a loop. It’s just one continuous note. No interruptions.
Check the Dip SWITCHES (backside) & please make a SPECIAL VID about the fakin nais DRONE-MODE ! :DDD
Max Bill 👍
I can't get why no one is going to compare the nyx2's REVERB with the v1 one in those demos, it's so far the biggest doubt about this synth
I agree that a side by side comparisson on the reverbs should be done. I have the v2 and I really like it for bass and acid stuff. The reverb is usefull for drones, but kind of a one trick pony. It is dark, and kind of all or nothing. Nick Batt has a review on it and said that the reverb on v1 is better sounding. I have only heard v1’s reverb on youtube, and I prefer it to v2’s reverb from what I can hear.....maybe the algoritm can be improved in a future firmware update.
White stripes from a black and white box...🤔
If this would be poly tho...
You should look into the Abyss. It’s amazing.
@@HotStrange i've looked into the abyss once... never again...
I'm in a Sams car yeah same. If I ever find one used again I might have to buy it. One of the best sounding synths I’ve ever heard and no one wants to get rid of theirs. Understandably.
