SHE SANGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! the vocal range.... honestly!! the lows, the belts, the whistles... this is truly (one of) the hardest pop songs ever
I just know the crowd was shooketh watching Mariah hitting the whistles up close and personal. Like the audiences are very rarely that close to the stage and WHEW!!!
Loved the reaction and Mariah's energy in the performance was everything!!! Those growls and belts did THAT for me!!
I love the liberty she takes to make changes to the song. Like imagine having to do this almost every other day on tour. Demanding af.
This might be my fav Emotions performance. The MTV unplugged performance has a special place in my heart tho.
PREACH! Like every word, it's funny because for me what sets the Unplugged Emotions apart is the intro, & what sets this apart is the acapella outro, so its really a yin & yang deal that might qualify for a tied win LOL
your HAIRR i love it! i love how raw this performance is, like you can tell it's 100% live because she slightly misses some cues but at the same time it's vocally perfect, and the Bb7 at the end 😍
also my favorite performances of emotions are arsenio hall 1991, music box tour 1993 (i can link u the specific one lol), adelaide 2013 too, for some reason that one just hits, the agility, her whistling over the playback and attempting some prime notes/melodies, the intro and bridge omg..
and also 2010 emotions had great belting

I do, and Im gonna incompoerate more of a mix, but as far as the music I definitely have a preference for 90s Mariah in terms of melody & the singing styles, but I know that the post Daydream Mariah is much more personal & literal to her life in terms of the music & harmonies, so the next MC 1 I'm doing is something from Rainbow & I got alot of Charmbracelet to get to because it's a era that I wasn't a fan of for a long time until recently & now Im a lil obsessed with it too like a new album.

I feel like you have an aversion to current Mariah or assumption that she's not that good and only talk about the first 6 years of her 30+ year career. The throwbacks were fun, but I (we) would love you hear your thoughts on current songs, or current interpretations of older songs. I'd love to help with any recommendations if you'd like.But can we please please please get out of 1991???
And in return I appreciate you vocallizing your concern, the short answer is YES we will be getting out of 1991 & the 90s in general, but it's a fine line with me that's different than most reactors where when it comes to artist in Mariah's case, I'm a bit more interested in the years I wasn't aware of, and my production ear REALLY craves older things, & in me starting out on this & getting comfortable with it all, when it comes to her (as well as a few) I try to go with what moves me in the moment, and the 90-93 era's always naturally come to my mind first. But I can assure you every era will be represented, and this conversation has influenced me to mix in some of these 2000s & 2010 MC's too, as well as me talking about her music in other formats (an upcoming Podcast where I spend entire shows talking about my favorite artists catalog's, I can spill that she's episode 3, but I'd like to keep that open to if a new albums coming this year). And again thank you for this dialogue and keep it coming, it means alot that I do want the fanbases of these artists that I'm inviting in to be respected & considered.
