Getting ripped in half by Fuhrer Ugly had to have been one of the most gruesome injuries a hero suffered, next to getting turned into ground beef like Tank Top Master did or melted by Vomited Fuhrer Ugly. Fuhrer Ugly was just a menace in the MA arc.

This is the type of stuff that makes OPM interesting. It's not just about a guy who can one shot enemies. The story and world building gets really deep and has a lot of meaning in it.
many people like/notice only the more blatant shonen aspects OPM parodies but this is truly what makes it a good continuity

I feel like this is the whole basis of OPM because he beats everyone in 1 punch. They show the other characters development as a way to depict how strong monsters are b4 Saitama offs them w jus 1 lol simplistic yet genius
5:50 So, in the end Garoh was totally right about society depiction of heroes based on appearances rather than deeds. In the end, no matter how hard Amai Mask tried his best to please and protect society they turned him down and even tries to kill him when he had never done anything bad to them.
Yet, Saitama shows him what a true hero is like. Even if society turns its back you continue to do good regardless of what everyone thinks, a hero doesn't do good to look good or to please themselves but because doing good is just fun and you can do it as a hooby.

Its a common theme with super hero stories. Societies reliance/fickle loyalty to their heroes and how that effects those that try to save them. My Hero Academia has a big theme of how Hero Society is inherently flawed and its lead me to believe the way Deku becomes "the greatest hero ever" is by somehow ending all quirks. Cause there is no Hero Society without Quirk Society.
But yeah, Society is all too willing to turn on its heros at the SLIGHTEST tremble of their power. A society that relies on superheroes tends to neglect their own independence and community, it also breeds villains who wish to take down the heroes their worlds depends on too much.

I wish Amai Mask is the reason why there's a shift in the story where not just humans, but heroic or dutiful monsters get a chance to make a difference in the world. OPM is the kind of story that can use a narrative like that one, just to show the full extend of the morality in OPM.
As far as regeneration ability goes, Amai Mask is somewhat similar to zombieman. Of course zombieman survived much worse than being ripped in half and face caved, but still... who knows... probably Amai Mask can survived those kinds of damage too?
Zombieman is not equipped with extraordinary strength like Amai Mask does, though...
Zombieman does superhuman strength though. He can bend metal bars with ease.

Amai mask has become one of my favorites because I feel he represents the true human perspective in all this, in victim-hood, perseverance is born…..
He is the perfect example of how the society corrupted him, made him into believing that outer beauty is more important than the inner beauty if you are a hero which actually turns him into a true monster. But in the end the society had *Betrayed* him when he showed his true form, his true appearance, just to protect the innocent people's lives around him against that hideous Clown monster, in other words Sacrificing himself to the public instead of giving up on his fake human form like a selfish coward. He chose to do which only a true hero will do to protect the innocents lives when he reach to the state were he have to change his own appearance to finish that Clown's entire career and his life out of it. After his sacrifice, they called him a monster because of his appearance after what he did to them all this times. Thus, the public chose to ignored his good deeds but chose to disrespect and staying away from him because he is scary looking monster? The Society *Is* the true monster here...

@@LegendTD Prisoner is in love with the idea of transforming to gain tthe power to protect his "boyfriends", just like a Magical Girl gets a new transformation when she needs to win a the end of the episode, Prisoner mutates his body to gain the ability he needs the most at any moment (like when he needed protetion against Nyan and his body hair became armor).

Saitama beats the true evil alien that just wants to destroy in order to find a good fight. Then he beats a guy that thinks he's trying to be absolute evil when its only ever an outer shell. And he may fight a monster that doesn't actually want to even embrace evil but feels pushed to it.

I believe that he is a vital compontent of the story since he is tied to the Mad Cyborg mistery and he is also the only person who knows the entire true story of Genos's past (which is something that will come back to relevance sooner or later, since there is many loose threads open about his backstory).
Maybe he will come back as a cyborg of some sort or an A.I computer that saved all of his mental knowledge like Zola from Marvel.

Amai Mask is opposite of Garou. Garou wants to become a monster and Amai Mask is hiding his monster appearance. I got a theory that Amai Mask himself is an ugmon which is an ugly person that transformed and gained powers based on his ugliness. So Amai Mask was an ugmon that reversed transformation into a beautiful man but when he uses his powers his ugliness is exposed that's why he tries to end the fight as quickly as possible before anyone can see his ugly monster form
I feel almost like his regeneration is part of him reassembling his human self over his ugly self again.

He's the coolest hero.
Amai mask, Garou, and Saitama would get along really well. To them, being heroes isn’t about the fame, but the impact. Garou will be the villain, because he thinks that’s the best way to save people. He doesn’t need to appear as the handsome good guy, he just needs to do good. Saitama is the hero for fun. He doesn’t need the fame or praise, he just wants to do what is right. Amai Mask exists as the perfect hero, because he molded himself into that image. He views the existence of that perfect hero as crucial, because he knows that people need that symbol to hold onto (like All Might or Superman). But Amai Mask doesn’t put that image first. When he got revealed, he asked for Saitama to kill him, because he realized he could no longer serve as the perfect symbol anymore, so even with his death, he wanted Saitama to take up that mantle. He wanted Saitama to kill him, so that Saitama can be the next symbol. It doesn’t matter who is the symbol of heroism to Amai Mask, all that matters is that a good and powerful person who will put others before themselves and can deal with the most hopeless of threats is taking on that role.
TLDR. All three would happily sacrifice themselves if it helps others.
sweet mask started out like saitama and garou, trying to be beautiful on the inside and helping people, even picking up litter. However once he became a monster and transformed himself to be beautiful, he became more vain and lost his way, however now he's finally remembered his original goal and regained his senses.
@@ProjektTaku not really. Like saitama and Garou he always was heroic. He obviously has some backstory we do not yet know what makes him more ruthless than Saitama. But his values are just as heroic nonetheless. He was never vain. In fact, he despises pure vanity such as the idol group who wanted to be heroes for their image.

Months ago when I read this in the webcomic what Saitama says is important. "You're just getting started, it will get more interesting"It rang home to the truth behind his power, Saitama must know something about awakening/monsterfying the world doesn't and this was hinted in his fight against Garou where despite his many transformations, he knew it all bluff.

at first we all hate him then we all feels sad for him.
You know I have some theories on the aimai mask story (when the manga catches up).
When people hate him in his monster from. It was because he was involved in the hero association hero ranking system. His monster from is the window they need to get revenge on a piece of the system that is corrupt and incompetent.
I also think why he seems to be a good monster is that in order for the monster cells to turn you into an evil monster, it has to be from a FULL choice, you cannot be tricked or forced. Or perhaps there might be a monster in his family line.
The reason why he became a famous star is to attract star struck girls... but not for himself. You see he was talking to Saitama about human evolution, and selective breeding is part of evolution. He wants to attract girls so he can coral them to strong heroes so they can give birth to stronger heroes.
(That maybe why most of the hero association females were on the top wifue in hopes they would find strong heroes and have strong babies).
Aside from the depth of One Punch Man's world, I love the idea that OPM and JJK have a similar thing goin on with "monsters" vs "curses" 💛
I love Amai mask and I think he's the strongest non S-class hero(excluding Saitama) and I believe he is stronger than half the S class heroes

All Heroes with unusual and inhuman powers are considered Monsters, even Saitama himself is one.
The difference here is that in the OPM universe, special abilities will start to manifest based on strong and intense desires or emotions, or A.K.A Monsterization.
Phoenix man form can be seen as a hero if he was to be one, because he's still just a man in a suit, and the suit mutated and gain powers from his desires. And then there's Tank Top Master, whose belief in the tank top is greater than anyone, the Tank Top performed CPR to save his life, the thing is sentient and probably granting TTM his powers, hence his philosophy to his followers is to believe in their tank top. If TTM chooses to call himself a monster, then he will be one, same goes for Tatsumaki and Psykos. Both are Espers, but one chooses the Hero title and the other Monster. Homeless Emperor is just a human with powers granted by God, but he still call himself a monster.
Monster is pretty much translated to Villain, like in MHA a quirk user can either be a Hero or a Villain and with OPM its Hero and Monster.

damn that's a fascinating thought. Perhaps Saitama breaking his limiter is an invitation for all the strange things that has happened in their world.
I think this likely has to do with the nature of prophecy in the OPM universe. Like, without diving too hard into the sun-moon dichotomy Egyptian mythology hypothesis, if there's a moon, the sun will someday rise to defeat it -until next time.
It's not quite like Saitama exists in a vacuum either. As a kid, monsters were mainly the subject of TV shows while also being a fact of life. He was as much shaped by the world around him through mundane means, at least as much as prophecy.

I have no friends since my daughter and I fled to Ohio, from Florida, under the instruction of child services and police, just to have her wealthy, wanna be, drug boss, only fans, sugar daddy using , wealthy mom, get a fancy lawyer to take her away from me and leave me broken and confused, simply out of spite .
Point is, you seem like you'd be a good friend, I just want to find someone that also has been through trauma or depression, PTSD, etc, likes anime and at my age (37) I don't even remember how to meet or make friends.
Not to mention the virus hit at the same time I came to middle of nowhere Ohio. Funny how these stories on the news with semi wealthy people, their house burns down or some tragedy happens and the world chips in and helps them, yet money is the one thing that led to me going from having a child I raised alone everyday...to nothing, just due to money, even though her mom was nowhere to be found for the first few years, never wanted her, abuses her etc...
Life is so confusing..I'm about the kindest person in the world. Been single for years now, on disability and just started supplementing by working at....Walmart....which is harder then I thought, and Im not dumb, not lazy, just the world has taken it's toll on me. I'm too kind and loving for it, so much anger, people get joy from harming others etc.
Anyways, I'm sure I could do a thing whatever it's called, go fund me, to try and help with the cost of a lawyer and getting the daughter I haven't seen in 2 years five months and 13 days now back and safe, but I just don't like using others, even for a just cause, doesn't seem right.
Plus I don't think anyone would even help, I just want to make friends and find a way to make money on my own, it's interesting how you(Zhoniin) and others, found CZcams and figured it out, the tik tok, you tube, only fans etc world is just past my generation I guess, and things I can do and handle are from home, as dealing with Walmart is very hard and I am only allowed to earn so much to keep my much needed medical etc.
Just rambling and hoping God sends me some friends to talk to, even if noone lives in Ohio, or Florida where I'm trying to get back to, I know there's good people out there, but I was isolated for a few years it seems, between severe depression and Covid when they took her away from me after doing what I was told to save both of our lives.
Things like these videos and others keep me going, just wanted to let you know that...I often think how or why I'm even still here or still trying at all. But I find little hope and joy in spots, therapy has been a big help etc.
Anyways God love you all, and between following marvel and DC, as well as some of these anime arcs, and UFC it gives me some hope and happiness sometimes.
I know it could always be worse, I just see how people are now that I'm directly in the public at Walmart....and they seem, even worse then I remember. I'm so kind yet been called a racist, cracker, idiot, all for doing my job and checking people's reciepts, between that and seeing kids in the store being abused by their parents and thinking of my own daughter...it's really hard.
Not sure if this is a plea for help or friends, or just me rambling as I drink coffee and get ready for the drive to Walmart for my 9th day, but anyways, I wish you all peace and love, cedar point will be opening soon, maybe I'll go there one day, maybe I'll once again find friends and love and direction, family, someone to talk to and lean on, maybe God has a plan....or maybe not.

In my opinion, I don't like that Handsome Mask might be a shapeshiftter. To me his handsome form is what he became after he underwent monsterification. His negative emotions and obession made him monsterize. Hopefully the shapeshifting nonsense is just speculation by Super S.
