Hi Liz! I did the balloon-covered ornament several years ago - we have a big outdoor holiday display with tons of blow molds. The year that the creator of the yard flamingo (Don Featherstone) passed away, I did a tribute Christmas tree to him and his wife. Used lots of pink, yellow, orange, etc tropical colors that I wouldn't normally use for Christmas. Instead of buying dozens of new ornaments, I just balloon-wrapped ornaments I already had. Knitted Santa hats too for the flamingos! The balloons are a great way to try out a new color without the expense.
I've been doing the cookie cutter hack for 21yrs and it's still one of my kids favorite.

I love how u show just using things around the house to decorate with. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to decorate for the holidays. I like to find sticks, pine cones, etc. in my yard. Free natural decor.

My kids are much older, but never too late to mix in some pancake fun! Scatter a few of the cookie cutter pancakes with the round ones and fruit! I will be making the tree shaped napkins as well.

My husband is an HVACR tech and one year the only ornament hangers I had were those little pieces of string that come with the ball ornaments (probably all we could afford at the time)... Anyway I remember the strings weren't working and I was getting so frustrated!!!
He went outside and stripped some electrical wire and cut it in to pieces for me to hang my ornaments...
That's one of my best Christmas memories ❤️
Liz, when making a large bow, make a small slit in each side for the pipe cleaner to grab into. It also helps with bulky ribbon so your loops also twist and fluff out nicely from the get-go. Another method is to sort of zig-zag your ribbon and twist it in the middle so you always have the nice side of the ribbon facing out. 😉 I find that my bows are fluffier and don't shift with these methods.
I don't use pipe cleaners. I cut a short piece of the same wired ribbon and then cut a piece along the edge so I have a fabric covered wired strip. I use that instead. It blends in well.
Lisa, I agree. I worked in the gift wrap depatment and had to make many bows ahead of time. I always put a slit on both sides of the ribbon. It turns out nice.

@@maryc4745 I do the same! It blends in with the bow a lot better then an ugly old pipe cleaner. 😂
@@ann-utah1495 18:21 see where she folds it in half? Just cut through all the wires in the middle on each side just a little slit after you cut through all the wires! Hope this helps

Luv the idea with the balloon and Christmas balls and pancakes with the cookie cutters.....I switched to using zip ties vs pipe cleaners in making bows due to the more 'crisp' look and tighter hold... Thanks for all your ideas.... from Ottawa, Ontario

Liz, on your bow, you should cut a vee notch on either side of the folded bow in the middle (maybe 1/3 the way in) prior to wrapping with the pipe cleaner. You will be able to separate the individual sections way easier for a more fluffy, professional bow.
The scarf wreath. That’s a true hack. I love love love it.
I enjoyed all of these. The jar you put candle and mints in, I made something similar for Easter. Take a vase put a small cylinder or short vase in larger one. Pour the jelly beans all around in between the two vases and put fresh or artificial flowers in middle vase.

The scarf wreath I loved that. I did one with black and white checks and my neighbor loved it, gave it to her. Made another with green and beige plaid, the post lady loved it gave it to her, there is pattern hahaha I cannot keep a scarf wreath! So for about 4 or 5 years now I have been making them and wind up giving them away!
I need to find those command hooks! I have an extremely long mantle and those seem like a must.

Castile soap! I purchased the regular bars when my kids where young, put them in the tub, would loosley lather my hands and make the largest, longest holding bubbles through my hands! Best bubble maker!

There's a hack for putting the ornament topper back on. After removing from ornament, pull the ring of topper up to bring those 2 prongs together then put back in ornament.

I like the peppermint bowl & card holders. I do have a couple of questions. For the peppermint bowl - does the peppermint flavor not get into your candy? At work someone added peppermint lifesavers (wrapped) in a bowl w/ chocolate & it flavored the chocolate- no joke.
For the candy cane holders- do you think they’d be sturdy enough to hold a picture or Christmas plate?
