  • The Nancy Drew Adventure Game series (developed by HeR Interactive) is quite possibly my favorite mystery series of all time. The series is filled with excellent stories, brilliant puzzles, amazing characters, and most of all: nostalgia. Without Nancy Drew, I would not have the same love I have for the mystery genre as I do today. In this video, I take a look at what got me into the Nancy Drew video game series and what it means to me-and for further context, I take a deeper look into Nancy Drew: Warnings at Waverly Academy to show you guys just how special this video game series is to me. Hope you enjoy the short review and retrospective!

About The Nancy Drew Adventure Series: In 1998, computer games developer HeR Interactive began publishing Nancy Drew adventure games for the PC.
These games follow amateur detective Nancy Drew in various mysteries in which she oftentimes must solve a crime. Players must move Nancy around in a first-person, virtual environment to talk to suspects, pick up clues, solve puzzles, and eventually solve the mystery.

Oh man I LOVED these games when I was a kid, and I still do! Nancy Drew was what really got me into the mystery and horror genre. I started reading the books when I was I was 11 and then discovered the games at the library, the first one I played was Message in a Haunted Mansion too! And yes, holy crap it scared me so much I had to take breaks from playing it😂
Now that I think about it, these games are something I turn to now for comfort, even as an adult. Several years ago I got really sick and watched someone play them on CZcams while I was alone during the day and stuck in bed, and then I did the same thing again during the quarantine in 2020. I would not be the person I am today without Nancy Drew!
