    I was in Dubai in March for a uni trip, fell in love and moving over there is in my two year plan. When I came back I found your videos and have followed you since 😊 Really useful information, I really like this style of video with you facing the camera and chatting away as if it’s like a youtuber & friend kinda vibe. Also love that there’s not a massive intro of rambling on about other things unlike a lot of youtubers out there. Direct and straight to the point!
    Really great video, well done hun 🤗

      it’s cute to see that someone actually fell in love in Dubai, that has been one of my worries about moving there coz I kept hearing that it’s hard to make relationships

    Everything you said is 100% true. Recycling was a huge bugbear for me when living in Dubai along with constant taxis! And I know so many people who got into HUGE amounts of debt and couldn’t get out of it because of the over the top lifestyle.

    Hello, Mabel nice vlogs don't stop, My opinion is that Dubai is a great city one of the best in the world, whenever people make a decision it always has a consequence either bad or good so the best thing is to plan ahead and family should have a role on that so no regrets occur afterward, when you travel somewhere you must have a goal you would like to achieve especially away from family, it's not easy but it's reality, in the end, no one to blame for shortcomings but people themselves, sorry i took so long but the truth has to be said, good luck ans best wishes.

    I used to live in Dubai, and I agree 100% with each point. Especially the lack of public transport / not very pedestrian friendly.
    Personally from my experience in the 90s and 2000s at least. I felt there wasn’t much of a Dubai community. Lemme explain
    So Dubai has many different cultural backgrounds. But in e.g USA or Canada or UK, most of the people will still socialize and be a community together even if different cultural values. But in Dubai? I never seen or experienced that. Groups felt more divided and stayed within their same circle etc. Idk if that’s how Dubai is now, but it’s what I honestly experienced back then

    In reference to your last point, I think people will assume certain things about British people in Dubai because it tends to be the party-loving, materialistic British who reside or holiday in Dubai. For example, a British musician who loves poetry etc ... that's not the type who will move to Dubai. They will either stay in Britain or maybe move to Berlin

    It bears mentioning in Jul/Aug and couple months before and after it is too hot for almost anything. Leaving the best idea an air conditioned space. But I hear British rule in UAE so go ahead and enjoy. Hot weather is small price to pay considering the opportunities and possibilities for a British in Dubai.

    Moved here 3 months ago and missing home so much! Dubai certainly not big on recycling. Brunch I haven’t done but the food here is just not the same as back home… is it also just me or are people lazy here because basic services are so cheap? Like washing your car, cutting your own grass if you have any, cleaning your house ect. I’m trying really hard to see what I actually like about Dubai, and honestly the only thing I enjoy is the safety, clean public transport and quick government services

    • @Chainbreak2023
      @Chainbreak2023 Před rokem

      No they are lazy! The idea they don’t do that much but hire abs abuse maids to do their basic work for them us mind boggling! They do nothing and all they do is shop shop shop and pile on the weight get sick with diabetes and die young! Working out 🏋️‍♂️ or cycling I understand the weather can’t permit that , but one can in the cooler winter months, is not a thing there! Only the expats do that! They abuse their workers. Money is the god that they worship

    On one hand I'm hearing "Oh Dubai is so safe, great, fun etc." then I watch these other videos that tell stories of women being jailed and blamed for being brutally raped, drinking alcohol, for greeting a man with a kiss on the cheek etc. and that low wage workers are treated as slaves. So is Dubai super amazing or is Dubai a shiny fun trap that takes away your rights and freedoms once you make one innocent mistake?

    • @mabelgoulden872
      @mabelgoulden872  Před 3 lety +8

      There is a lot of modern slavery in dubai which is awful. I have never known anyone arrested for anything you mentioned though I know western media has these stories in the past. I have heard of drug related arrests however but if you follow the rules I would say you’ll have no issue at all. 👍😊 it is super amazing though everyone will experience it differently I’m sure just like any country or city
