Donovan “Razor” Ruddock is one of the finest boxers to ever come out of Canada. The Jamaican-born fighter is a natural talent who earned a reputation as one of the most ferocious punchers in boxing’s history.
Ruddock was a left-hander fighting out of an orthodox stance, often relying only on the savage power in his left hand.
He faced some of the best heavyweights during his career which spanned over 33 years from 1982 to 2015. He retired with an incredible record of 40 wins with 30 knockouts, 6 losses, and only 1 draw.

Ruddock ,along with Foreman and Holyfield, are my 3 all time favorite boxers. Ruddock absolutely had the wrong fight plan when he fought Lewis. Had Morrison beat but got careless. Could have been world champion if he kept Janks Morton as his trainer!

Ruddock could have won it all, he had everything, but his corner and ring strategy probably could have been better.
Great Boxer? Hardly. Exciting fighter yes, but limited with a fragile chin. Had Morrison out and was crushed SECONDS later. Lewis destroyed him in 2. He was fearsome and dangerous before Tyson and really didnt deserve the rematch with Mike. Was the fight stopped early? Maybe, but it was only a matter of time. Beat old former champs and trail horses.
Measuring a few losses etc doesn’t pull him out of the great category. One of the best ever? No. Great boxer? Absolutely.
