    I don't do daily lenses... but the Ultra are great, except not durable at all. If you really do wear them 12+ hrs daily, they'll probably last 2 plus weeks. If you wear them around 7 to 8 hrs daily, then 3 to 4 weeks.

    Great Video, I'm a new wearer, I started with Air optix for astigmatism and I must say I'm impressed, 2 days are left until a switch to the second pair and still I feel comfortable after 10+ hours with a help of a small naturale tear bottle. Also the fact that it is more riggid than the others is very good for beginners because the lens is easy to remove and insert and also is very hard to fold in the eye and stuck.

    Bausch and Lomb Ultra are only good for two weeks- after that i could not wear them for a full day.

    Air Optix isn’t the flagship anymore, Total 30 came out in September 2021 and is exactly what you asked for in the video, the monthly version of Dailies Total 1. I’ve been a long time happy user of Vita and before 2 week Oasys for over a decade but I definitely want to try it out. Precision 1 was way better than MyDay and Oasys 1-day for me, but daily disposable lenses are just way too expensive.

      @AntonioTheOptom  Před 3 lety +3

      Soft lenses should cover most astigmatism but for people with a lot of astigmatism hard contacts do yield clearer vision. I like soft because they are much easier to work with but RGPs have their place in the world 😁

    I use Biofinity toric and I had issues with the stability of the lens when the cyl value was less than necessary. Once this was fixed, I have never ever experienced a rotated toric lens and I see perfectly all day. Acuvue Oasys have really bad lenses recently (2020-2023), they become unusable on the 3rd day due to loss of rigidity/shape.
    My personal trick for keeping the lenses clear and comfortable for an entire month is to use peroxide solution at least once a week. I am not always using peroxide, because my regular solution makes the lenses very "soft" due to hialuronic acid.

    I appreciate these reviews. I've recently been trying to wear the multifocal B&L ultra and now Biofinity Toric. It is been difficult for me to find the clearness as my brain can't seem to grasp the whole seeing near and far in one lens. My right eye Lens prescription is a little stronger in far-sighted and the left is for closer (Not totally monovision, as my eyes are pretty bad). When the doctor tried both eyes in the same level of power, I couldn't see close up to save my life. I've only had the Biofinity for one day but I'm not getting enough distance vision. The non-dominant eye is taking over in seeing near. I may be the 5% that can't wear the new multifocal contacts. ☹

    Vita was the worse contact I have ever had. Mine were monthly, I felt like it was constantly scratching my eye, eye’s itched all the time. I was constantly moving my contacts around to find a better position, at first I thought they were inside out, NOPE! Second time getting that brand and both times they were the worse for my eyes. They dried out so fast at the end of the day I felt like I was peeling a bandaid off my eyes. In one day they had build up that I couldn’t get off with the contact solution they were monthly and only lasted a week and half. Sucks they didn’t work for my eyes! Now I’m on a search for a different brand.

    I used Acuvue Vita Astigmatism for about 3 months, but tbh it was quite disappointing. I could barely see anything because of blurry in dark environments. And also, my eyes felt irritated (dry and itchy) only after a few hours wearing.
    I thought that I was not suitable for contact lenses and about to give up, until I saw Precision 1 Astigmatism just came on market. I wanted to say, my eyes feel way much better, though more difficult to attach and remove, I never experience any blurry or irritation any more even in darker environments, and I usually forget I am wearing contact lenses. The only drawback of Precision 1 is too pricey 😂

    Hey Antonio, I have a question. I went to my doctor yesterday for a yearly check and I was wearing monthly contacts that were 6 weeks old (I wanted to wait until my eye exam to order new ones). I thought he was going to tell me I should never do that again but to my surprise, he just asked me if they were still comfortable and told me that my eyes have very good lacrimation and that I could wear my contacts for 5 or 6 weeks if they were still comfortable. This is the first time I hear this. Is this normal?
    Also, I asked him for torics because I have astigmatism, but he told me that my astigmatism was so low that there aren't any contact lenses for it (I have -0,5 astigmatism in both eyes). Is this also right?
    Thanks a lot and thank you for the videos :)

      If your astigmatism of -0.5D is between 0° and 20° or between 160° and 180° - that's the physiological astigmatism that even people with perfect eyesight have and you actually should not try to correct it.

      Eye strain is most likely due to our behaviour as human beings in front of the computer, I would suggest taking regular breaks on the computer (i.e. 20 seconds after every 20 minutes), blinking more frequently and occasionally lubricating the eyes in the form of eye drops. I personally found the vita to be the most comfortable and unfortunately we don’t have the total 30s just yet in Australia. Blue light is probably not going to do too much here

    I have a -4.25 cyl on my right eye and the Biofinity Toric XR feel fantastic after about an hour of wear, but I feel them get a bit dry after about 4-6 and the movement of the contacts becomes noticable afterwards because I can feel them drying out towards the end of the day. I find myself seeing better with contacts than with glasses and was wondering if you'd know of other brand of contacts so I can compare my options and see what's available. The last contacts you mentioned seemed really promising but when I look for contacts that match my prescription, I only really come across Biofinity. Any suggestions?

    How do the Vitas compare to the oasys 2 week toric for you? The 2 week toric felt horrible but I only tried it for a few min at the office. The Vitas feel good after getting used to them but only been a week. The Ultras felt like sand paper after the first week, almost think I got defected ones but the first week was great.

    I was put on acuvue 2 lenses. I was previously on air optix Hydraglyde monthly’s and I find the acuvues harder to stick to the cornea than the air optix. The optix would move towards the cornea and stick after insertion. The acuvue I would have to move lenses to the cornea and when’s over the cornea it would not stick and if I blink they come right out. I have to keep playing with the lenses until it sticks.(Which I don’t like) once they’re in, they’re fine. Are the acuvues better than the optix? I also prefer monthly’s.

    • @rdwok14
      @rdwok14 Před 2 lety +1

      Why were you put on Acuvue 2? It’s a very out of date lens, came out in 1999. It’s a hydrogel lens with very low oxygen transmission compared to modern silicone hydrogel lenses. Air Optix is a silicone hydrogel but originally came out in 2008. Air Optix with HydraGlyde is the same lens but updated in 2016 with a different surface treatment. The flagship monthly lenses out right now are Alcon Total 30, Acuvue Vita, Bausch and Lomb Ultra, and CooperVision Biofinity. They’re much more updated and healthier for your eyes.

    • @AntonioTheOptom
      @AntonioTheOptom  Před 3 lety +3

      Lenses are awesome because it’s basically like temporary lasik that you can switch on and off so I wear them when I play sport or a night out but I prefer wearing glasses at work mainly because I genuinely enjoy wearing glasses - allows me to style my look better but also because contact lens overwear can make the eyes unhappy let alone the costs that stack up from wearing them consistently

      @@AntonioTheOptom I'm currently getting fit Corning's Dreamlens OrthoK (night lenses) because I really want to get rid of my glasses (I hate how I get a slightly blurred vision if I don't look perfectly straight through the center). However, the optometrists has switched the night lenses two times so far and it's still not an acceptable vision (halos at night and dim light). Before trying OrthoK, I tried basically every monthly soft lens out there, but it was always too dry. Also tried RGP twice (like glass shards...). Somehow, I completely forgot about the option of wearing dailies on a daily basis. As they only have to last a single day, the are thinner than monthlies and thus should be more comfy. As there seems to be quite an innovation going on with dailies (Total1, INFUSE), I'm excited to try them out after my night lens experiment. Any opinion on my situation? Cost doesn't really matter to me as you can tell from my trial of OrthoK's (70$/month).
      I have a video suggestion: Comparison of spectacles lens models. I'm curious how much aberration, weight etc. can be eliminated by choosing the most expensive one vs. a cheap lens. When buying new glasses, my optometrists just says "well this Zeiss lens model is thinner and lighter than that one", but he can't give me objective numbers to compare, which makes me crazy ;)

I find that the Acuvue contacts provide me with crystal clear vision and don't give me any eye strain especially when looking at objects close up. I can't say this for any of the other lenses, which is weird to me because B+L and CooperVision seem to make sharp optics (aspheric backbone) a selling point for their lens.

      @@musicchinook4009 I haven't tried the Myday lenses yet but I thought about doing it so thanks for the feedback. I've been experimenting with Oasys vita and so far they are the sharpest I tried for distance vision and have great contrast as well. Near vision isn't that great. Also acuvue multifocal is by far the best multifocal I tried for both near and far vision. The new alcon total 30 spherical lens gives great near vision for a normal lens (almost feels like it had a slight addition) but at the cost of slightly less sharp distance vision compared to acuvue vita. Next week I'll be trying out acuvue oasis for Astigmatism and compare them with biofinity toric. Hoping they'll give better contrast and stability...

      Great question!
      The ideal method is to have prescription goggles (but I find they are quite difficult to find and especially if your prescription is high you are left with no other options) so the next best alternative is to use daily disposable lenses because if the pool water gets into your eye it might soak into the lens, so dispose of the lenses after you’re done swimming. Probably not the best idea to use monthly lenses for swimming 👍
