This is all part of the ride that us Jazz fans will be on for the near future. I'm all in and will remain positive while watching this team take shape and grow together. Summer league will be fun and maybe worth a trip to Vegas.
I don't know if Filipowski will be a player or not, but interesting fact! Kelly Olynyk has a wingspan of 6'10".
You need to watch more of his film David! He’s a much better shooter than you make him out to be. Steal at 32!!
Flip is going to be a passing big that can also stretch the floor. Nothing more, nothing less. That's still a solid rotation piece and gives the Jazz something they don't currently have on the team
Lock needs to watch more filipowski. I could be wrong but it sounds like he is giving an analysis on a player he hasn’t watched enough of
I agree with him on Filipowski. Jazz are going to regret not picking Tyler Smith significantly.
Filipowski shot 35% at the three this season, not bad. He improved 4% from the year before.
What a draft!
A negative wngspan is way more important for shorter players. As a 7 footer, its not that big of a deal. In fact shorter arms corrolate with better shooting percentages.
Let's hear it for the short wingspan player. We try harder.
David is way too quick to dismiss people based on single datapoints. Kelly Olynyk was the same height as Filipowski, and had the same wingspan.
Do you think we will get Clay Thompson or Paul George? They are both looking to move teams.
Hendrix is the most likey to become our top 20 player under 25. I think he will get a handle before williams and seems very likey to be a top 10 defender soon
Great show Locke! Overall, this draft seems boom or bust. Hate the early preemptive praises the Jazz are getting. Need to see how they develop over a couple years. Ok to hope the will be great, but realistically, maybe 1 or 2 will still be in the nba in 5 years.
I was hoping the jazz would take a look at the hone town kid from the utes in Carlson. When they grabbed flip it was like they were on the same page of thinking, but Carlson may be a better defender. Both can shoot the 3
Listening some episodes I missed earlier. You keep saying negative wingspan is rare. Well Lauri is tall player with negative wingspan too, you don't need to go further than that to find an example 😄
He will probably be a less efficient, but better defending zach collins which isnt a bad thing. Gets more minutes against big lineups at pf and can be the 5 out center/pf with lauri and taylor taking on rim protection duties against smaller lineups
Damantas Sabonis, spin moves work and i think Filipowski's skill is a little more than dribble shoot pass. Its IQ and adapting on reads. I guess we'll see summer league if his moves are a bust

I know a bit about it. Basically he's got a Mormon girlfriend who is about 6 years older than him, who has convinced him to completely cut ties with his family from New York. He won't even speak to his family, and his family is making a very public fuss about it, saying he's been indoctrinated into a cult. Teams have thought their relationship was a bit concerning and passed on him because they didn't like the drama.
Rumor has it - and this is strictly rumor - that he kind of tanked in workouts with some other teams because he was hoping to drop to 29 and be picked by the Jazz, so he could live in Mormon country, because his girlfriend wanted him to be here.
He dropped out of the first round instead, but did get the team he wanted with 32nd pick. But dropping out of the first round will probably cost him millions of dollars, and leaves him without a guaranteed roster spot.
According to Pelton i think Furphy was high up.. i get we have wings now but why'd we pass on him at 32? Did we just want a big..
I could see Lauri trade for picks and some veteran coach/leadership kind of player.
With these drafts they could have something building up in the long term.

@@odman7945 As the story goes, there was a young farmer who had collected a large basket of eggs. She got excited by her larger than expected yield, and decided that she would try to hatch the extra eggs and raise them into chickens, which she could sell for a big windfall to make some extra money.
But as she was walking along trying to count the eggs and trying to figure out how much money she was going to make on the chickens she would raise, she wasn't paying attention to where she was walking and she tripped, spilling the basket of eggs and breaking all the eggs, ruining not only her extra eggs, but her whole yield of eggs, leaving her worse off than if she hadn't gotten the extra eggs in the first place.
The moral of the story - don't count your chickens before they're hatched - is that you shouldn't make plans in the future based on something that is not guaranteed to happen, because making plans based on uncertain future events is likely to cause you to make mistakes in the present that will mess everything up.
Like trading away an All Star talent because you've got a handful of rookies that you kinda like who haven't even played in a single NBA game yet.
If anybody thought that any one of these guys was going to be anywhere near as good as Lauri Markkanen, they would have been taken with the #1 pick.
First off, Kessler should be used more offensively he's got game and they don't.... 2nd- filipowski could play the 4 along side Kessler.
