    Your hair is so beautiful 💕. All this advice I absolutely 100% agree with. Used it all on me but my hair growth actually started when I stopped going to hairdressers. Currently got very similar, waist length hair. Some extra advice would be to wash hair in lukewarm water rather than very hot (which I used to do), not to use too much shampoo on the entire length but just the scalp and don't rub them too much with a towel. Wish everyone success growing their hair.

    Girl I ain't got 4 years, I'm tryna quickly grow out a horrendous haircut
    *Hair update: Thanks for all the likes and comments everyone 💖 I did try rice water and coconut oil but felt like they didn't do anything. After several months I finally accepted that I had to chop off nearly all of my hair just to make it even and the same length, but I was blessed by the hair gods because the lady I went to for the haircut absolutely did everything in her power to leave some of my length while giving me a really pretty haircut. I loved the way she cut it because it made my hair look like I got a blowout everyday and I fell in love with the length, it's slowly growing out and is currently up to my bra strap. Hope y'all are doing well in your hair growth journeys!

    1. Don’t trim too much of your hair. She also says she cuts her own hair. But if you want a dramatic change in length, then see a professional stylist.
    2. Don’t apply heat to your hair. Let your hair dry naturally. If you apply heat, be very careful and don’t go over the same strands more than once. Don’t apply heat often, and don’t touch the part of your hair closer to the scalp, so say you want to straighten your hair. Make sure the straightener only touched the part of your hair below jaw level.
    3. Avoid hair extensions.
    4. Stop dying your hair. She states she has never dyed her hair. If you really want to get your hair dyed, do it at a hairdresser. Don’t go for cheap stylists either. If you can’t afford it, then don’t dye your hair. It’s better anyways. Also try to avoid dying the roots.
    Products she uses:
    She says she prefers raw, natural ingredients
    -Vatika Coconut Oil (rub from root to tip, wrap in shower cap and sleep with it on)
    -Pure Organic Castor Oil (massage into scalp and stimulate the roots with your fingers for about 5 minutes)

    The tips provided within this video include:
    1. Avoid cutting your hair, it slows down the process of growing meaning your hair is constantly restarting the growth cycle
    2. Avoid heat, damages hair and results in dry hair also slowing down the process of growing
    3. No hair extensions, results in thin hair meaning reduced volume which again slows down the process of growing your hair
    4. No dye, damages hair often making your hair dry and reduces the speed of growth
    5. Use castor oil to massage into your scalp and roots then massaging it down to the tips, this provides nutrients to your hair and increases the growth speed
    Hope you found this helpful everyone!☺

    Why does this video have so many dislikes? I thought she did a really good job describing her personal hair journey and giving tips that helped her. She was also honest about her psoriasis (my sister has this and she’d never in a million years let that out) which is, I think, a really cool thing for her to embrace it and give others going through that same struggle her advice. Thanks for the video! I’m trying to make my hair thicker and more healthy and I’m definitely going to try some of these tips!

      Celeste Newton not really. If hair grows on average 6 inches a year and she’s been growing it for 4 years = 24 inches and she started from shoulder length hair which for the average human woman is bout 8 -10 inches. That’s not fast. It’s a bit less the average. The main reason why it’s “long” is that she retained the length. That’s all

      Well what did you expect? 1 month?

  • @ladydough
    @ladydough Před 5 lety +12

    One thing for people in the comments; not everyone's hair will get this long. The women in my family have extremely slow growing hair. It took me four years to get above shoulder length hair to hair that almost hits my waist. Only time I cut it was a few months ago and only about an inch off. I noticed using coconut oil (only on my scalp since the coconut oil messes up the rest of my hair since it's sensitive to protein), castor oil, and rosemary oil really helped my hair grow faster. Also, we all have a terminal length. The women who have hair past their feet have a fast and long growth cycle (probably 7-10 years which is abnormal). Your hair will only grow for how long your growth cycle is before it starts to fall out and regrow to that length. I didn't know this until recently. A few more tips: Drink water. Take your vitamins. Have a healthy protein, calcium, and healthy fat filled diet. Reduce stress. Exercise. Get enough sleep. Check for health conditions and get them treated. Only wash your hair once or twice a week unless you have a scalp condition. Use sulfate and silicone free products. Learn your hair type and porosity level. If you notice your hair is worse after high protein treatments, you could have protein sensitive hair and you need to stop using protein filled products. Don't use heat unless it's very rarely or light heat if you have low porosity hair and you need to open the follicle to absorb treatments. Be careful with some heat protectants (the Dove brand damages my hair). Sleep in a braid. Sleep on a satin pillow. Don't use regular hair bands, use gentle crink free ones or scrunchies. And make sure to dust your hair every few months and cut individual split ends or knots when you see them (buy nice scissors though). Not everyone has super healthy and strong hair that grows really beautifully no matter what they do. Some people, like me, have to take extra care of their hair just to maintain softness and healthy ness

    someone probably already answered but:
    transitioning hair is afro textured hair that is being transitioned from being exposed to straightening chemicals (i.e. sodium hydroxide, usually called a "relaxer") to being completely natural and chemical free. The hair is usually quite damaged and dry during this process. Shea Moisture is usually targeted toward afro textured hair types (like mine) but other people sometimes find these type of products work better for their textures than generic or common brands (Herbal Essences, Neutrogena, etc). Hope that helps!

    I’ve had scalp psoriasis since I was 9 and for a really long time I never knew what it was! My mom always thought it was dry scalp or residue left from products. I also feel like it’s not a very talked about subject but I’ve seen a lot more girls talking about it on CZcams lately so I love that you mentioned it! I would love to see a hairstyle video from you. I try so hard not to wash my hair constantly and knowing some tricks to disguise my psoriasis would be lovely. Also, I loved your video and I thought you had a lot of good information in it I’ve heard a lot of similar things from beauty gurus so I don’t know why there are so many hateful comments on here. Girl you need to try the Briogeo Scalp Revival charcoal exfoliating Shampoo, I also have scalp psoriasis, and that shampoo is a life changer. It is expensive, but if you use it once a week it can last you a while. I personally, use it as a treatment, and as a clarifying shampoo specifically after oiling my scalp (which i do mainly to strengthen the hair follicle and prevent breakage that can be caused by the psoriasis). I'm so glad you mentioned that you have to deal with scalp psoriasis, I feel like no one talks about it, and it's such a nuisance when you're trying to grow out your hair thick and strong.

I went on a sugar and yeast fast for 2 weeks and my psoriasis went down by 98 percent and it’s only come back recently and I plan on starting the fast again next week to get it back under control. I really do feel like we can control psoriasis and eczema a lot more than we realize..anything that shows up on the skin is because of something off internally. I hope this helps somehow (even though it’s very scattered haha)

It was as long as yours is now and it was beautiful and I have a really unique soft brown colour. At the age of 15 I cut it off to my shoulders and I loved it, I don’t really miss my long hair, I love my hair and I like it short or long as long it’s healthy. Now I’m 16 and I’m growing it again. I've always loved red hair and I used to dye it red all the time, I got what was called a "natural dye" in a box from the drugstore and it was supposed to be gentle because it was supposed to be natural but it wasn't gentle at all, I always had fried hair. Then I discovered henna which gives me the same red I love but it actually makes my hair stronger and protects it and doesn't fry it at all. So if you want red hair or brown hair or you just want to dye the roots I really really recommend henna. If you want blonde hair you can also get it naturally, there are some sprays out there that gradually lighten your hair colour and aren't as damaging as dyes. You can also use herbs like cassia, rhapontic and chamomile to dye your hair naturally, you have to apply many times if you want really bleached looking hair but it's worth it because it doesn't damage your hair. If I wanted blonde hair I would do that.

    sulfates = salt, silicones = plastic (in many conditioners), you need the -ate to take off the -cone and you need the -cone to make your hair shiny and not look dull. you can definitely find shampoo and conditioners without those though. i found length wise, using a 1:1 mix of apple cider vinegar and water on your roots and massaging it in helps a lot (didn’t need to up my wash routine either). a good mask for the ends to help mitigate split ends is 1 large egg yolk, 2-3tbsp oil (olive, coconut, etc), & 1tbsp honey.

      so happy to hear you enjoyed the whole thing! I would deffo cut down the amount you dye or begin going over to balayage as it helps your roots have a break and grow strong! I would say castor oil takes a really thorough wash to get out as its quite thick but the coconut oil comes out easy with 2x shampoos. Might take a lil more effort than normal but your hair will grow so so much faster 💕

    • @ladydough
      @ladydough Před 5 lety +5

      What I've learned is to not fully wet your hair before you put the shampoo in. Get it barely damp and wet the shampoo in your hands then work it is to a thick lather (the oil will bond with the shampoo better here). Then rinse out and rewash again but focus on the scalp more and let the residual shampoo go down your hair. It'll get it all out and if you don't wash your hair often, it won't hurt your hair to double wash unless you're leaving the shampoo on for too long. My mom's hair stylist friend told me that double washing your hair cleans it the best and she was right. My hair doesn't get that oily anymore like it did when I would only wash once and now I usually wash my hair every 3-5 days. I'm working towards doing it once a week.

    Oh my goodness I'm so happy I found this video. I have psoriasis on my scalp as well. The front and back and the nape of my neck at my hairline. That's where it's worse. I can't seem to find anything. I also have super greasy roots and super dry ends. I never find the right balance. It's so frustrating and depressing and hurts so bad when it's flared up really bad. This is the best. Thank you for this video. Sending you love.

    This is so true I was straightening my hair every day, even if I wasn’t going out for 3 years! I dyed and toned and bleached it religiously. It never grew past my shoulders, because the ends were damaged and the hairs would snap on my shoulders and basically cut itself. My hair didn’t even look that damaged and the snapping isn’t very visible t does happen. My 2019 resolution is to not use any heat and I can already tell the difference :)

    When I stopped using weaves my hair grew a lot thicker and longer when I stopped relaxing and let me natural curls grow through
