A showcase of all the custom MH textures I've made...

- Over the years I spent messing around in SFM, I spent almost the same amount of time in GIMP messing around with textures. Some of them are completed, others are not and never will be, Some have a lot of effort put into them, while others I just turned up the saturation. And with so many textures, I decided I'd spend WAY TOO LONG making this showcase video with a lot more effort than I could've put into it. Seriously though, I could've just had them spinning on a platform instead of end up with 41 separate segments...
Many of these textures didn't even have names until this video. And this is just the tip of the iceberg...
So yeah... This only covers about a quarter of all the custom textures I've made...
There's about +20/30-ish more textures sitting around doing nothing...
Might not cover those, unless this video explodes for some reason.
Copy-pasta for deh CZcams gods:
Dis Monster Hunter animation is brought to you by "SFM", a software in beta since 2012 - Krátké a kreslené filmy
The Rusted Kushala wasn't a shedded skin, it just died waiting to get into Sunbreak
You mean it was "dying" to get into Sunbreak?
@@jakomioftherose2434 No, it’s not dying, it died.
@@Lokheim you missed it, didn't you?
@@nargiaz7368 Probably, since I don’t know what you’re talking about
@@Lokheim I’m dying to get a joke, got it?
The different shades of colour would be an interesting mechanic to be featured in a game.
It helps to differentiate each encounter to make it just a bit more interesting.
Imagine you're just doing a Rathian quest as usual but you see the Rathian that seems just a bit bigger than usual with less saturation, implying it's an older Rathian.
But to be fair not many people would care, they will just annihilate whatever is the quest target.
Maybe when you hunt two of the same monster, both of them could have slightly different coloration to help distinguish them, especially if both are in the same area.
Let's pray that they implement something similar in MH6, this would totally add more to the "realistic" aspect of the in-game world
I know the smaller monsters do it in rise but it’s subtle
I’m not sure about larger ones tho, but size differences are apparent
@@egg4666 Yeah, monsters in Sunbreak defo have had their size variation cranked up to the max. And yeah, it really does make each encounter just that tad bit more unique and interesting!
For me I look to see if the monsters on quest seem a bit bigger than others or if they look a bit smaller but it would be nice to see like more older looking monsters like maybe Barioth with more fur
I love at the end of how the shedded kushala started to ionize into the metal look
Thats how its portrayed in his ecology.
You mean oxidize?
Someone else in the comments said this as well but it's worth echoing. Imagine having all of these avaliable and the game picks one of the various skins to use per monster. So you hunt Rathian, but she can be anywhere from very muted green to literal emerald in the sky. And if they did named hunts where you find, "a well aged and particularly strong specimen that people have nicknamed (blank)" and it's a hunt Red King or one of the other more detailed alternate skins.
I noticed something. The “regional” variants look like they are from a highly detailed version of monster hunter stories.
more like the original games before world where they were vibrant in color
For real how bad ass would it be to get to fight and see the red king diablos in game from the first art book, what I would give to see that
Also for real black diablos should be reclassified as a variant
Also imagine how cool it would be if we got to see a kushala shedding its skin just like in the ecology video but in game
It'd be cool for elders to like "regenerate" and for kushala it'd be shedding it's skin because let's be honest the elders are difficult but their lacking a certain punch to distinguish their hunts from normal hunts
@@thatnoctutnallizard4600 I know there fights have gotten a lot better just look at kushala in rise he's the best he's ever been, I'd like to see a return of mechanic from older games of fighting the same elder over various quests and regains with the health and part breaks carrying over
Black Diablos should just be a normal species like rathian
That's why I really wanted those rumors of Rusted Kushala coming to Iceborne to be true. I imagine it would've been a two-staged fight. First you'd star of fighting the regular Kushala Daora: slower than its regular counterpart with less wind attacks, but capable of inflicting bleed with said wind attacks, due to all the metal flakes it constantly sheds. Then, at half health, it would push you back with a huge gust of wind, in order to safely molt into its second phase. Here, it would logically take a *lot* more damage, but also become much quicker and use everything at its disposal (i.e. the mobile tornadoes in Rise, more frequent and bigger giant wind blasts and the wind beam it also learned in Rise). Would've made the fight a lot less annoying in the first phase, and a lot more exciting in the second, due to it becoming more of a glass cannon like Rajang.
@@blobvisfan666 totally everything you just said is awesome, always thought it would be a nice touch to come across a rusted kushala and have it molt later in the fight, or even just watching it go about its days and just decide to molt into a regular kushala,
My question is would it be possible to have a monster that casually can transform from normal to variant and back agien? Would rusted kushala mabye need to be scraped as a variant and just have kushala go through this natural life cicle in the fight?
This just goes to show how much effort Tea Common can put into a video when he's passionate about it versus when he feels like rushing things. I like the fact he doesn't just show the best of his work, he shows in detail even the smaller parts he did.
Ok, how about a mod that just lets you drag in multiple skins for each monster and the game randomizes the skin for each encounter? :D
Imagine if you mixed pink rathian with the rathian skins and then had no idea how powerful it would be until you actually fight it? Pink normal rathian, bright green pink rathian, large faded red azure rathalos. Gold and silver should stay distinct though.
Good idea, it would bring more diversity in the game
The regional textures remind me of the og versions of the monsters, how the colors were way more cranked up in 1 and 2 before they decided to tone them down in 3
i do wish World's Rathalos was abit more vibrant witht he red, like your one, i think that looks perfect
the Gold dust Glavenus looks interesting too, is that like if 1 lived in Elderado?
also i weirdly LOVE the sandy Diablos, it's a small detail but it makes so much sense
I feel like Glavenus would be the one brute wyvern that would actively seek out hunters and make nesting places near settlements. Not necessarily to kill humans or raid livestock, but to watch and imitate how hunters use their weapons so as to have an edge against other Glavenus in the inevitable interspecies conflicts for turf and mating rights.
@@user-wt8zh1bx8y i could see something like that, hell maybe that is how HellBlade got so skilled
but i recon most likely they do what whales do, learn it from their parents, then learn from other Glavenus they come across to add to their skills
@@user-wt8zh1bx8y now I wanna see a glavenus attempt a true charge slash
@@SalveSandWonk isn't that the (correct if wrong) short hop doing small amounts of damage then a flip that does tons of damage?
I still can't get over "Malzeno" 😅
Funnily enough, I think both the more natural, desaturated colors and the expressive, vivid colors work/are valid. I can’t really say what one I would pick over the other because I genuinely love them both.
That first golden Glavenus is beautiful
So hear me out, a Caverns of El Dorado expansion with Goldrex and Golddust Glavenus (and a few other monsters that are gold colored ofc)
I love your work! The textures over Rathalos and Rathian are exccellent, specially the "Guardian Ratha"!
i love the subtle differences you put in each monster
So entertaining to watch! This just makes me want a game that focuses more on the exploring of the world with monster variants and age differences like juveniles.
These were awesome. The idea of regional shades of color is a great idea, but I gotta say that your Golddust Glavenus was my favorite. Those looked friggen sick.
I beg you, Tea, make these a mod for world or rise. I'd love to use these brighter and more unique textures.
Between all these, you just never miss.
Especially regional blue, Yin Rathalos, Red King, and Niha
Guardian Rathalos: large and very old Rathalos variants known to dwell in mountainous regions. They aren’t as effective at flying as they used to be, but their physical strength and firepower are immense, allowing them to still be the dominant predator of their environment.
Purple boi/Rathalos: a rare genetic mutation of Rathalos. Much about these monsters remains unknown due to how elusive and few in number they are, though some reports claim their poison is much more lethal than a regional Rathalos.
Yin Rathalos: believed to be closely related to Silver Rathalos, these powerful wyverns are rarely seen and even more rarely survived. Favoring more harsh environments than their cousins, they’ve been known to challenge elder dragons for territory. Reports claim their fireballs are blindingly bright.
Yin Rathian: the female counterpart of Yin Rathalos. Oddly enough, their colors are much more mute than other Rathian variations, contrasting the sky-blue of Yin Rathalos. It’s thought this is because the flashiest males display to attract mates, making bright colors in the female unnecessary. Some reports claim her fireballs are laced with poison and a sleep agent, similar to an Espinas.
Sandy Diablos: these Diablos live in the most barren and harsh stretches of desert, and the fierce heat forces them to stay underground most of the time. This is why their skin seems more dusty and sandy than other Diablos.
Red King Diablos: a Diablos subspecies found in volcanic regions. Their skin is heat resistant and their horns are hard as iron, allowing them to dig through volcanic rock. Like their desert cousins, they feed on sparse vegetation and are highly territorial, driving out other herbivores from their feeding grounds. When enraged, their bodies can heat up to the point simply touching it can set you on fire.
Goldgrex: a Tigrex subspecies found in the caverns of El Dorado. They control the caves created by Kulve Taroth during her own territorial patrols. The bulk of their diet is Rheneplos, one of the few herbivores hardy enough to survive in the caverns. When they attack, they cover their claws in heated rock that hardens over time, making their claws heavier and hit much harder, though this also slows their movements. Usually they are the dominant predator of the caverns, but there is one rarely seen monster that rivals them.
Gold Dust Glavenus: this rare species of brute wyvern is thought to be just below Kulve Taroth in the El Dorado food chain. Large, powerful and intelligent, they’ve been known to follow the mighty elder dragon and slice chunks of gold off her tail. They then attach and melt these onto their own blade like tail, superheating it and allowing them to cut through rock and metal with ease. They’ve been reported to mesmerize the movements of their opponents to better counter them, including hunters. As such, the guild exercises extreme caution on any who wish to hunt them.
Titanium Kushala Daora: these elder dragons are well known for their metallic skin, but this variant takes it a step further. Their skin is of such impressive density and weight, that some researchers are impressed it can fly at all. It’s still unknown how exactly they gain these attributes, some believe they ingest certain minerals to harden their skin, while others believe it’s simply what happens when a Kushala grows very old. If the latter is true, a Titanium Kushala could be many thousands of years old. They are known for preferring physical attacks unlike their cousins who usually use wind, and they also have much greater physical strength.
Note, these are all just my thoughts and speculation. The creator probably has their own lore behind these designs, but I thought it’d be fun to think some facts up myself.
These are some nice lore notes here.
I don't actually have lore for those, the only ones I do have lore for are "Golddust" and the "Yín Raths"
I think Guardian is Actally Base off of Guardian Ratha form Stories 2 if you noticed the Scaring on It Face but I Would Like to see Guardian Rathalos For A Short Animation or two
Those “regional” skins for Rathalos and Rathian literally fix one of my biggest gripes about MHW. Well done.
Stunning work, would love to download some of those. The efforts put in the presentation are impressive too, i hope this blows up
Great to watch, the animation bits with the monsters running around or doing their thing was reminding me of the "Monster size comparison" videos
I wish there will be a "shiny" system in MH6, where all monsters have different versions of their actual skin without being a variant or a sub-species.
That was really well done. The animations were amazing. Id love to see what other textures you have
The fact you got the Crimson "Red King" Diablos from the Lore is a blessing upon CZcams
Holy SHIT, bro, these are amazing. Please, continue these. I love it. I love it so much. I already loved your work but now I love it even more. You've gotta be my favorite creator. Ever.
Man those transitions are just as dope as the color choices you made
Make a bright orange Rathalos with yellow belly and call it "The Game Freak".
That was really cool dude, I'd love to see more!
These are bloody gnarly.
Saw the rusted one and immediately thought it's dead lmao. Love your regional colour schemes
woah dude how this was really cool to see actually
now this, puts a smile on my face
Why are you not a MH developer?
But seriously. You put so much more life into your interpretations. It has to be a real thing!
i know, right?
Too hype to see your other textures :D
I like the return to the original rath and diablos colors
Imagine in addition to hunting gold crowns for the largest and smallest for every monster, you also have a chance at getting different mutations that are both unique enough to constitute it being there, without having to be a new monster. Very much like what we have in MHWorld and the rare endemic life.
"Golddust Glavenus" is such a cool design! I feel like it could be an interesting fight too if leaves explosives "gold" dust/powder (similar to Magnamalo and Teostra) after it's attacks. It's colour scheme is also really attractive with the deep purple/black mix in contrast to the molten golden yellow. Love the design! Fantastic job!
I didn't realize how much the transition from new world to old world was desaturating the monster colours, basically all regional variations look like their old world counterparts
god id love some of these textures as a world or rise texture pack mod honestly
especially the brighter raths and that golden glav
Gold Glavenus was something I didn’t know I needed till now
It seems like your planning on making a mini series of your own with your own texture monsters. I’d say go for it it this is the iceberg tip.
The reason why we didn't have variable skin is probably for immersion when you turn those materials into weapon/armor. Too much work/memory usage for potentially immersion breaking feature.
What about Golden Jho? I still remember back then when we saw that one perfectly sun bathed Jho and thought it was actually a variant of some sort. Please, make it become a reality!
Literally just Starving Jho
Or you know, tempered Jho
"Niha" Nargacuga looks absolutely gorgeous he could be like a variant.
Great job!
Velkie looks so pretty with those more vibrant colours!
The more vibrant ones look kinda exotic
I really like em
a lot of these are really cool! I really like the Gold Dust Glavenus @ 2:42
THE GREEN RATHIAN IS SO GOOD its like mossy forest and i love it
Really great reOriginals. Really selling out on the Caverns of El Dorado monsters :p
man, wish i could add some of these to my game, they look awesome~
Liked these. Would love to see the rest. Maybe the fabled white Alatreon makes your cut next time.
Holy shit, that yin rathalos is gorgeous. Genuinely need that in the game ASAP. :)
So cool!
So many great ideas
1:38
finally the actual "Red King"
Tsuburaya: 'no, we not color our "red king" with red colour...'
I love the more saturated colors that you use. One of the things that disappoints me about modern games is that the "realistic" ones look so dull.
How ironic the "guardian" rathalos is sleeping. Jokes aside, these are neat.
I was so ready to see a Malzeno with a Velkhana texture
These are all really cool! wonder what you use the Regional Color variants for!
I seriously loved the sandy diablos textures too much 😆
I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being a feature, it goes in hand with size variation, it's something that happens to real animals and would be pretty nice to look at
Diablos looking deep fried in thumbnail
“wassup my niha” - some hunter that got turned inside out by nargakuga
As some other commenters mentioned, it would be great if the base game had a few more color variations on monsters, like the brighter red on your Regional Red Rathalos etc, just to spice up the world a little (after all not every animal has exactly the same coloring and shades as other specimen of their kind).
I do like most of your new textures but a few seem a bit to artificial or ...how should i put it... look like plastic toys, for example the Yukima and Malzeno variants of Velkhana or the Shedded Daora
Anyways, great work! I love what you did with the Diablos' skins :3
1:38 missed opportunity to call him “Diablos Rojo.”
Most of them are really reeeeeaallly cool 👀
Especially the glavenus and yin rathalos ❤
We need more shorts with the named monsters.
This is so badass
Song/music is Arena: Large monsters abound
Guardian Ratha😭❤️
You should totally show us more. You don’t have to do all the cool animations either I just like seeing the new textures you made.
Show the other textures or we riot. Also Yin Rathalos is such an insanely cool concept.
Yo these are so cool how do you make those custom textures?
These look so cool!!
Also can someone please enlighten my empty brain what game are these from/for?
Soooo cooooooool...
Well done👍
These look amazing! Do you ever think you'll release them as retextures for MHW?
2:12 I actually though that was Malzeno for a sec lol.
If these retextures were made into an actual mod I would download them coz they look amazing ❤
I think it would be cool to see these in an official game.
daaamn these trasitions
So I'm not the only one who's considered the possibility of a purple Rathalos!
whats next? fan made MH game? im in it!
slight recolours for different regions would such a cool little detail
I now want Golddust V2 Glavenus to roam around in the Caverns of Eldorado
Ah yes my favourite Monster, Malzeno
"Much like ourselves, Monsters are individuals who are shaped by their own experiences and surroundings. However, most Hunters only encounter more dramatic alterations: Deviants, Apexes, and the like - while more subtle changes usually result in a Subspecies over multiple generations. No, what I discuss here are the more subtle shifts - how one Rathalos may appear more vivid and colorful than another, simply because of its particular diet. Or how some Diablos appear more 'grainy', these individuals subjected to more frequent sandstorms. And nothing to say of their behavior - much like Deviants, individuals who survive different circumstances will learn different behaviors. A darker Nargacuga may have learnt to be much more of an ambush predator - their umbral fur making them practically invisible in deeper, darker forests.
Of course, attempting to classify these specimens is an exercise in futility. It's impossible to categorize individuals, and a Rathalos is always a Rathalos to a Hunter, regardless of size or saturation. Still, I have decided to document my findings as best to my ability - perhaps there are trends to observe that, with time, could be compiled into useful information. Perhaps certain shades or colorations can help determine individuals who are more docile around people - or have a tendency for certain attacks.
For now, of course, I will simply settle for my own satisfaction - and a reminder that every Monster is an individual, with their own unique histories."
YIN RATHALOS LOOKS SO SIICCCKK
“Mom can we get Sunbreak”
Mom: “We have Sunbreak at home”
Sunbreak at home: 2:11
The Yin Rathalos was INCREDIBLE LOL :0
Easily my favorite
You did Really Great Like to see Stoires 1 Fatalis Colors (I Assume the Some of the Monster Are Some what base off there Stories Monster Color and some of them are Pretty cool Colors Like Azure Rathalos and such I be Looking forward to see how great the rest of them will be
I still hope one day we'll actually see a rare species of Diablos and it be that fabeled "Red Diablos". And no, I'm not counting that Hyper one with a cactus gimmick from Frontier.
the "regional red" looks so much like the Rathalos in monster hunter stories 2!
I feel Chameleos would look pretty good in green
Now I want red king and goldust as subspecies/rare species, and for kushala to have different colorskins based on the mineral he ate
It would be cool if the monsters had color ranges so if you had a quest for two of the same monster they could looks slightly different maybe increase immersion
