The Mother's Voice: Message of 31 Dec 1954 and a Selection from Sri Aurobindo

“No human will can finally prevail against the Divine’s Will. Let us put ourselves
deliberately and exclusively on the side of the Divine, and the Victory is
ultimately certain.”
Now I shall read to you two questions which were asked and Sri Aurobindo’s answers.
It’s not that the questions express a very high state of mind, but I am afraid many
people let themselves fall into this kind of mental state. And so I think the answers
will be very useful to many people also.
Here’s the first question:
“It seems to me that the number of people in the world accepting the truth of
our Yoga of Transformation would not be as large as those who accepted
Buddhism, Vedanta or Christianity.”
Here is Sri Aurobindo’s answer. Notice his humour. I draw your attention to his humour.
“Nothing depends on the number. The numbers of Buddhism or Christianity
were so great because the majority professed it as a creed without its making
the least difference to their external life.
“If the new consciousness were satisfied with that, it could also and much
more easily command homage and acceptance by the whole earth. It is because
it is a greater consciousness, the Truth Consciousness, that it will insist on a
real change.”1
The second one:
“You have said that the aim of our Yoga is to rise beyond the Nirvana, but in
the Ashram there are extremely few who have reached or have tried to reach
even the Nirvana. To reach even the Nirvana one has to give up ego and
desire. Could it be said that even a few sadhaks in the Ashram have succeeded
in doing so? Surely everybody must be making some effort to do this. Why then
are they not successful? Is it that after some effort they forget the aim and live
here as in ordinary life?”
The answer:
“I suppose if the Nirvana aim had been put before them, more would have
been fit for it, for the Nirvana aim is easier than the one we have put before us
- and they would not have found it so difficult to reach the standard. The
sadhaks here are of all kinds and in all stages. But the real difficulty even for
those who have progressed is with the external man. Even among those who
follow the old ideal, the external man of the sadhak remains almost the same
even after they have attained to something. The inner being gets free, the outer
follows still its fixed nature. Our Yoga can succeed only if the external man too
changes, but that is the most difficult of all things. It is only by a change of the
physical nature that it can be done, by a descent of the highest light into this
lowest part of Nature. It is here that the struggle is going on. The internal
being of most of the sadhaks here, however imperfect still, is still different from
that of the ordinary man, but the external still clings to its old ways, manners,
habits. Many do not seem even to have awakened to the necessity of a change.
It is when this is realised and done, that the Yoga will produce its full results in
the Ashram itself, and not before.”

My grandfather died recently. He was a devoted follower of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo. I miss him terribly, and appreciate these videos for making me feel close to him once more. Thank you.

We are lucky to live in the ERA of SriAurobindo and The Mother.
The number of people treading this path of transformation would be less than the people following Buddhism or Christianity. Most of the people following Buddhism took it as creed (and so their number was great). For those who took the Buddhism to their inner consciousness, the aim was to reach Nirwana. Even for Nirwana, one has to renounce (get rid of or destroy) his ego, his desires. It is not easy - but it easier than the aim that we put before us: integral transformation. Even those who are here (doing Yoga in Ashram) and have got some success, it is their internal struggle and success only. What is needed for transformation is to change our external person - being. It clings to its old habits. Divine Being is doing its work - and it is its wish - design - that will prevail; it is we what is needed of us: change our not only internal being - consciousness - but also our external person. This is message I got from my divine Maa. Now - what I feel - in 2020, we find we humans are still struggling against anti-Divine forces in our "inner consciousness" and our external person is as hard in its habits as before - clinging to its old habits. As Sri Aurobindo has said, Divine is not in hurry because an eternal time is pending before it. Our best attitude would be: Divine wish will prevail and that we should be on the side of Divine.

I recently visited Auroville, and I must say the Mother & Sri Aurobindo's blessings are there. The universe that they have created is abundant and peacefully beguiling. And I knew it then, that I'm coming back soon.
I had visited Pondicherry in 1993.
Request you to kindly look up the meaning of the word you have used : "beguiling". It's better not to use words one isn't sure of - as it conveys a negative sense. But then in India we don't bother to learn something well. No personal disrespect meant to you here.
I also want very desperately to visit auroville pondicherry.. Hope so the day will come soon
