Interesting what you said about quantization of the drums. When I heard this song last year, I noticed that the snare and double bassdrum feels too «on point» and static. Anyway, the main riff and feel of this is song for me is a throwback to the Kill ‘Em All era in a sense.

Wanted to take a minute and thank you for these videos. I find recording engineering fascinating.

I love the solo for Lux Æterna. It's nasty and dirty yet a lot of people have given Kirk flack on this album. If you dig into this entire album, every song has a hint of their past music and styles.

I like it. Even though it reminds me of a hybrid of Hit the lights mixed with Dream Theater and Iron Maiden and the Drums sound like
they applied Drumodyne (melodyne for beat correction :-) cause they sound very tight regarding timing compared to (cough cough) the past.
All in all i still love them . I grew up with their music so as they dont repeat the Garage inc mastering there is hope

To my ears the guitars sound fine in the mix, at least is it not another Justice for all without bass guitar or all drums like St Anger! Me with my music, I make sure it all gets to be heard, especially the bass and drums but not to drown out the guitar - it pokes through with enough to not overpower the bass (thankfully) as it would if others recorded, edited, mixed and mastered my band's songs - I did it all myself. I have remixed/remastered a few songs since uploading them onto streaming apps! But not added those yet. One such song took me on and off 3 years to remix and remaster it from scratch!! It is called 'Long Gone'.

I like the cleanness of the production I know it sounds a bit synthetic but I found that more arresting and involved me more as a listener than And justice for all which is the other album of theirs I knew. I know I only owned that on cassette but I remember it being extremely dense to the extent that the words were pretty incomprehensible and it was just an effect with the whole song. As a conservatoire trained classicist that really bothered me with that album less so in this song. It went totally against my training as a singer compared to other bands of that era such as Iron Maiden I listened to in the early 90s, and some of the Ostrockers like Karat's Albatross I'm just starting to discover online in heavy rock and metal. I hadn't known about Karat until a few weeks ago. Neue Helden by the Puhdys I like also. The likeness of Iron Maiden to a lot of Ostrock is unreal they were the first metal band I ever liked coming from the UK. This is Neue Helden czcams.com/video/nzOmiZqwMLU/video.htmlsi=nCDz2CjftVVsGzL7 I loved the first Iron Maiden album the whole of it and Hallowed by Thy Name czcams.com/video/HAQQUDbuudY/video.htmlsi=ASJP1pTYC2o4Z48D. This is probably the best Iron Maiden song ever The Trooper. czcams.com/video/W4DfbinBgL4/video.htmlsi=y4pk34YNqoaDZzpo I do like metal but I love so many genres and I've neglected my love of it for so long. I've got a massive musical heart for pretty much everything. I was taught from a young age to be very late 20th Century from my music tutor at school and like every piece of music that comes my way from Plainsong to Slade and 00s German Hip Hop. I'm a big Sido fan so many tracks I like of his Liebe is a later one I like and I like Samy Deluxe's Poesie Album and Cool Savas Krone too. I lived in Germany for 7 years so I love German music pop and classical.

Sounds like “Kill Em All” intentionally.

Yes. This song is a call back to their first song Hit The Lights. Sonically, I think, they were trying for a similar sound/feel to that. Other songs from 72 seasons do sound different from lux aeterna, especially Inamorata.

What doesn't sound like Metallica to me is how basic it is, not very interesting musically.

This song is literally based on the new wave of British heavy metal that literally gave them inspiration to create the band in the first place. If you're a fan of metal then you should hear the bands that this song had inspiration from
