Ahh, Trail Ridge Rd. I was in a Ford Transit Van transporting belongings for a client north of Edwards. The previous two times I was at RMNP, the road was closed for the season. There were warnings of snow on the day I was to get to CO, continuing thru the weekend. I kept following their Twitter feed for updates. Even without a permit(forgot all about that), the ranger at the entrance was nice enough to let me drive thru. Finally got to see all of the park, saw it start to snow at the highest elevation, and had a wonderful drive back down to Edwards, taking some back roads. RMNP is wonderful, as is all of CO....
Thanks Alice for highlighting RMNP. Went for a week last late September and had a great time with lots of hikes and waterfalls. We stayed near Estes Park and really enjoyed visiting the town as well. We Spent 1 night at the Stanley hotel and enjoyed the ghost tour but didn’t run into any ghosts.
I love Rocky Mountain National park. My profile picture is actually me at the summit of Longs Peak in 2018. I dedicated the first 6 months of that year to lose 130 pounds so I could hike the summit. It was something I failed to do when I was in my 20's in the early 2000's and it always bugged me. I was just at the park a few weeks ago for a quick visit. I plan on going back in July to do some hikes. In fact, this video has given me some great ideas for hikes to do, so as always, thank you for sharing!
This is a great summary of the park. I live in Colorado and go there a few times a year and love it. Have been there in all 4 seasons. It is definitely worth going any time of the year.

I love RMNP and Estes Park dearly. I go every year, and count the days between visits. I've been to Hawaii, Florida, and many great states, but absolutely nothing compares to the beauty of the Estes/RMNP area.
Lol, mine is banana pancakes too...except I put blueberries, walnuts, protein powder, collagen powder, cinnamon, and a touch of vanilla in the mix as well. They're great for packing as a snack for later in the day. This video will be useful as I continue planning my mid-July trip to Colorado. Seeing The Black Keys at Red Rocks was part of the motivation and will end the trip, but plenty of nature and hiking before then. Thanks, Alice.
My wife and I visited RMNP for the first time a couple days ago. Even with a timed entry pass the line to enter the park was extensive. How 34 was closed before getting to Alpine Visitor Center so was disappointed not to be able to make it down to Grand Lake. Despite this, it was a great day.
I'm a huge fan of this channel - so much great information (and inspiration)! The beginning drone footage is from Guanella Pass showing Mt. Beirstadt and Mt. Blue Sky - two 14ers outside of RMNP. Other spectacular RMNP hikes include Sky Pond, Mt. Ida, Chasm Lake, Odessa Lake, and the Gorge Lakes basin. Thank you Alice for all your work and congrats for your climb of Longs!

Enjoyed seeing a lot of familiar scenery but disappointed to see all the fire damage since my last visit to RMNP in 2014. Been spending more time in the National Forests/wilderness areas of Colorado for a bit more solitude and fly fishing. Thanks for an updated look at the park in Fall.

Great video and lots of cool facts. I saw the correction about the Colorado river and it’s destination. One other one…. The burn scar just north of the Kawuneeche Valley Visitors center wasn’t from the Cameron Peak fire. The CP fire was at the very north part of RMNP. The burn scar near Kawuneeche visitors center was from the East Troublesome Fire. It’s also the same fire that caused the town of Estes Park to be evacuated after it jumped the mountains and burned along Bear Lake Road, and into Moraine Park. Beautiful scenery and like you said, so much to see and do. I lived in Estes for the last 5 years, it’s such a special place. Look forward to your next videos!

Awesome scenery. The Rockies are sublime. A person has to experience the pristine environment at least once in a lifetime. A picture or even a video does not pay tribute. I have been fortunate enough to be able to live nearby for the last 10 years, I am talking about the Canadian Rockies in Alberta Canada 🇨🇦 Thanks Alice for sharing. Great video, thanks for sharing. We visited RMNP a few days ago and hiked to Emerald Lake on icy/snowy path. It took us about 2 hours to get there since we stopped a couple of times, took tons of pics but the view's amazing. Will definitely visit again.
My husband and I are staying in Estes Park for 4 nights in early October. We are planning on hitting RMNP two days while we are there. I am kind of hyper about planning so this was helpful. We are a little unsure about what sorts of hikes to try since we are definitely not used to high altitude! It looks like there are some easy hikes to try!
Great episode Alice! We visited the west side in September of 2020, and were there for the 1 st snow storm of the year. We were not able to go over TRR to the east side. I was shocked to see that fire rip through that area a month later. We stopped on our way home on this year's trip and got to stay in Estes for a few days, the east side was gorgeous. Both areas are so beautiful and yet so different. I loved seeing your over view of both. I really enjoyed Lily Lake too. I found Sprague Lake to be my favorite though 😀

Pretty park nice trails and beautiful lake but i think the Smokey mountain national park is more beautiful its green with so many beautiful trees and streams and eagles and water falls but rocker mountain national park is beautiful as well thanks for posting
Smokies are great too but not as many or really any big mountains to hike. Very different anyways but you’re right both are beautiful and lots of bears in the Smokies

Moose in Colorado is a surprise, lots of hunter head there for the elk. Yellowstone area can have snowstorms in July, so you might want to take chains for your tires.
@@AliceFordAdventures they have ski resorts, it's weird to see emus wading through ? 5 feet of snow next to the highway in their winter ( our summer ).
I think Wold Basin is great because going to Ouzel falls you pass a few and can continue on to 2 more as well. Ribbon Falls is also really cool. Best hikes: Chasm Lake,sky pond or 5 lakes loop
FYI everyone. 13:35 You can also access this area via Allenspark. From there you can begin a hike from outside of the park so you do not need to worry about entrance fees and reservations.

It’s still pretty early for Longs and there will certainly still be snow and ice near the summit. Definitely bring micro spikes and check with the parks backcountry office before they always have day of trail conditions. Only other wildlife I saw was elk
A "couple of dozen" parking spots at Bear Lake ? There are about 212 available parking spots at Bear Lake. Also, the Colorado River flows to the Pacific Ocean, not the Gulf of Mexico.
If you are planning to go visit this place be careful, you'll need a reservation, and or if you don't have one you can get in after 3pm, But only so far up, not all the way up!
This video is really well done. I hate to come off as a mean troll, which I am not, but I should point out that your grammar needs a boost in a couple of places. Information is really well presented and helpful. You worked hard on this and it shows. Oh, one more little thing. When you show a waterfall, it's probably better to leave the music off and let us hear it. Overall, I wish more people would make videos with the high quality of this one. Thank you!
@@alastairpaisley6668 No most national forests allow dogs, wilderness conservation areas may not though. State parks are very dependent but most do allow dogs. Always best to check before you go

Actually, the Colorado River ends up at the Gulf of California rather than the Gulf of Mexico.
It sure does there is a colorado river that goes to the Gulf but it’s in Texas. My mistake

Yes there sure are. Deer mountain is a good mountain, Twin Sisters is also decent, I would Amos recommend the 5 lakes loop although it’s not a peak

Drones are not allowed in RNP, nor other national parks..... How did you get a permit?

One small correction. The Colorado River doesn't flow to the Gulf of Mexico, it ends up in the Gulf of California in Mexico.

Are you allowed to hike in the park with your dog?
No. Dogs are only allowed in some campgrounds and on roadways. Almost all National parks have banned dogs on trails.
