    If John was a consecrated Essene virgin, might Mary have been as well? And might that identity in common have been a reason for Jesus’ entrusting his mother to John?

      According to a private revelation from Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, Mary's parents were part of the Essenes. And the Essenes were eagerly waiting for the Messiah and making all sorts of preparations for the Messiah, including receiving divine inspiration which woman should marry which man (in order to produce the Mother of the Messiah)
