Did you freeze the piped out flowers or bake them?
I chilled the pattern design in fridge for few minutes, then bake together with the sponge.

can I use cake flour instead of ground almond?
I dont think it's a good idea as wheat flour and nut flour are different in many aspects such as gluten, protein, fats, and moisture.
