I think Liverpool beat us in the FA cup in 1921, then had to wait till 2006 for the next win in that competition! Man utd had a really decent record against Liverpool for a long, long time. I'm sure you've seen the '79 fa cup semis...just as fun to watch.

This was the golden age of the United - Liverpool rivalry. Football was miles better then. It was less popular than it is now and there were less tourists and trendies. The game doesn't mean shit now compared to this.
It's crazy how events could have turned out differently in 1988/89. When I think about it, in the odd reflective moment. If we'd beaten Forest in the Cup Quarter Final in that season, Hillsborough doesn't happen. As we'd have played Liverpool at Maine Road or Goodison again. That disallowed goal in our game against Forest, which should have been given. How things turn out.........
The horror of seeing it unfold on Grandstand was horrific, can't imagine the horror of being there, was so glad when Liverpool went on to win the cup,in a very decent game against Everton who no doubt lost family+friends was so fitting,I think the whole country probably felt the same
@@craigoliver8712 I was on the Leppings Lane end for our league game against Sheffield Wednesday a couple of months before the disaster. We were directed to the corner pen by the banked terrace around 2.45pm. The central tunnel was closed off the day we went there.

Let's just put to bed that Sparky was offside.....pause when Strach's plays the pass through, Hughesie was at least level with no.4 and possibly another defender too.

Great atmosphere, great game, no VAR. Those days are long gone unfortunately.
Exactly mate. God, I miss those days.

Mine as well, Peter. I totally agree with every word of your comment.

Much as I loved Fergusson's united, the games turned into brawls under his management. - particularly the Arsenal & liverpool matches

I don’t know what the commentator is talking about Norman Whiteside never did a bad tackle in his life.
👍😆

Oh what a night,yes!!
When players knew what it meant to play for the shirt and gave 110%. Not like the 2 bob ponces of today
That Utd team had lots of piss poor games an players didn’t always give it everything
Maine never got that crowded when city played there!😅👹
Thought big Norm was on thin ice in that game, but how the fuck MacDonald never walked for the tackle on olsen baffles me to this day🤔🤨
