    ABOUT ME
    As a licensed architect, professional renderer and design consultant for 25+ years, I watched as sketching and designing with pencil in hand was slowly replaced by design with a keyboard and mouse. But the Apple Pencil makes drawing by hand relevant again, and these courses in Procreate, Sketchup for iPad and *Morpholio Trace will get you back to the drawing you love, and restore the pencil to its rightful place in your design process.

    That’s actually fascinating that you managed all that with procreate. I’m a mosaic artist and I see high end Mosaicists creating drawings on sketch up or coraldraw… i don’t know how to use these. I found your video and thought screw it if this man can do all that with pro create I can use it to demonstrate mosaics :)
    Thanks bud!

    I am a recent subscriber and wanted to say how much I enjoy your content. I am not an Architect or designer but instead a swimming pool builder. Would you recommend Procreate or Sketch-up for designing pools, plumbing schematics, etc? Thanks in advance for your input.

      Thanks for your kind words! SketchUp is a Victor based program, so it can give you a very good drafted plan or elevation or perspective in a few minutes, but procreate is fantastic as a kind of sketchbook for the 21st-century, allowing you to use all the tools you are probably familiar with Photoshop to Take your sketches to all kinds of wonderful places, and then share those sketches out, and even to scale those sketches retroactively, so that you can import them into sketch up. So just keep in mind that procreate is a pixel base program, like Morpholio Trace, so your lines are simply altering pixels, and you are unable to export a 3-D file or even a dimensioned 2-D file to CAD. On the other hand, you can scale your drawings and procreate, so that they are easy to work over in SketchUp. Does that help? Bottom line: use procreate as a 21st century sketchbook that combines the familiar interface of the pencil with the powerful editing tools of Photoshop; but use sketch up as the thing that will hold you accountable and force you to commit to real world dimensions and sizes. PS: I’m recording this using Siri, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes or typos.

    Impressive! Do you make CAD construction drawings yourself or outsource them?

    • @iPadForArchitecture
      @iPadForArchitecture  Před rokem +1

      We outsourced the actual CAD drawings, but the people who made them used our schematic design drawings as the basis for their work. Thank you for your question! What's your interest in Procreate--do you use it in your professional work?

    The biggest advantage I see is that this method helps architecture students stay connected with traditional means of design which was pencil and paper :) also it helps keep architecture connected with art. Soon, with AI, there will be no need for humans at all and the only advantage we will have is the ability to connect people with the Earth and art in a human way. The machines are coming :)
