All new Katore Jumps, Rotorua. Will I even attempt these?

  • Katore jumps in Rotorua is a Dad's Army favourite. It is a mountain bike jump track that is split into three zones. The top two zones have been completely redone with the jumps now much bigger.
    I start this track with my friend Lindsay but sadly he crashes and breaks his collar bone. Will I pluck up the courage to complete the track?
    Today I am riding my Specialized turbo Levo. Maybee not the lightest jump bike but still great fun.

    Maybe turn down rebound one click on each end on the ebike and give it a whirl again , i find my Levo is either planted or poppy if i do a single click each way. Also more pump track riding would help , firstly you need to claim back the Redbull trophy from Lindsay but also your pumping needs to be on point to get speed for the next jump when they are that close together by the looks. Hmm and that crack when Lindsay took a tumble gives me shivers.

    • @bestdayevermtb2
      @bestdayevermtb2  Před 3 lety +2

      Firstly I should point out that I have never adjusted the rebound on any bike I have owned!!! The funny thing about making videos is you are seen as an expert when in reality I don't know what I am doing. I have Graham's shock wiz to play with so hopefully I may learn something. I am constantly trying to improve my technique. I think I may turn pro at 70.😅😅😅

    • @CarkeekW
      @CarkeekW Před 3 lety +1

      Ha, well i have two very simple ways to dial in rebound pretty close while still in the car park . When i got my hands on a shock wiz it told me all was good apart from 5psi more in the rear shock effectively so i must have a reasonable feel for it. Maybe your shop set it close enough ? Any how one click on each end toward "rabbit" and try something small that you know well and see how you go. Else Lindsay will have my number i expect and i can show you a cool local pump track at the same time .

    On the kenevo I’ve found that if you hit the first gap hard and fast with a couple pedals in and squash it like you’re in a race then it gives you enough speed to nail the next 2, the last 2 have enough space for a quick pedal so they’re no worry.
    On the step down to big gap I just don’t touch the brakes after the big corner gap, that landing is so deep and on the gap at the bottom the case pad is so big and forgiving. The track builder/tester put himself in hospital by nose casing the back of the landing before they decided to put the case pad in so that sucks.
